However, since then, the technology has been under constant controversy with clubs often ruing that VAR was not doing what it had set out to correct.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After a string of&nbsp;decisions went against Wolves due to VAR in the 2023-2024 season, the club decided to pursue the route of abolishing the technology.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"There is no blame to be placed. We are all just looking for the best possible outcome for football and all stakeholders have been working hard to try and make the introduction of additional technology a success," Wolves said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"At my age you have to be open to everything. You're talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that," said De Bruyne.&nbsp;</p>

<p>'If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet. Then you have to think about what that could mean next. But at the moment I haven't had to think about that yet," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>De Bruyne said he has spoken extensively about a move out of Manchester with his wife Michele Lacroix, who is said to be receptive to an ‘exotic adventure’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I still have one year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen. My eldest is now eight years old and knows nothing but England," said De Bruyne.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Casemiro, who had been playing in a makeshift backline in the absence of key defenders had put some horrid performances in the lead-up to the final. It was perhaps the reason why Ten Hag preferred to go with Sofyan instead of him while Raphale Varane and Lisandro Martinez formed the centre-back pairing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, after the controversy snowballed, Nordin took to social media and said he had no 'ill intention' of making such a 'speculative' statement and that it was wrong on his part.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Today during an interview on television it was suggested that my brother only played in the cup final due to an injury to another player. My response to this was pure speculation and my only motivation was to defend my brother who was on the field due to his own merit and hard work," wrote Nordin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the move was announced, the 39-year-old commented on Mbappe’s Instagram post which stated – “My turn to be excited to see you light up the Bernabeu.”</p>

<p>Although a free transfer, it is reported that Real Madrid will pay a signing-on amount of $100 million to the Frenchman. The deal is the most expensive signing-on fee as the Los Blancos prepare for a new era of Galacticos.</p>

Yes, I'm a millionaire, but I don't even have time to spend the money'.</p>

<p>Demands on players have increased in recent years, as tournaments expanded and new competitions emerged, with players and managers criticising that the calendar demanded too many matches. <p>Spanish police said on Friday (May 31) it seized 11 tonnes of forged soccer tops to be sold in Spain in the run-up to the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in London on Saturday (June 1) and the European Championship in Germany next month.</p>

<p>The seized goods include tops from Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, France's Kylian Mbappe, Spain's national team, Real Madrid and Barcelona.</p>

<p>The fake shirts were found among other forged products such as luxury watches, leather goods and electronics when agents were searching 15 heavy-duty lorries, police said in a press release.</p>

<p>The investigation started last April when two tonnes of counterfeit shirts of Spanish football clubs sent from China were seized.</p>

<p>Police found out a big shipment was bound to Spain before the Champions League final and the Euro finals, and set up an operation with more than 20 agents.</p>

<p>Police estimate the whole merchandise would have a market value of more than six million euros ($6.50 million).</p>

<p>AS Monaco's Mohamed&nbsp;Camara&nbsp;has been suspended for four matches, the French football league (LFP) said on Thursday, after an anti-homophobia logo on the Malian midfielder's shirt was covered up during a Ligue 1 match.</p>

<p>French Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera had called for "the strongest sanctions" against the 24-year-old. Following Oudea-Castera's comments, the Malian Football Federation issued a statement in support of the player.</p>

<p>"It is important to remember that players are citizens like any others, whose fundamental rights must be protected in all circumstances," the federation said.</p>

<p>On Thursday, AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro said the club supported the French league's anti-homophobia campaign.</p>

<p>"It was a personal initiative from Mo&nbsp;Camara," Scuro told French media. "We will have this conversation with Mo internally. Internally, we will discuss this situation."</p>

<p>Camara's management agency, Unique Sports Group, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p>

<p>Last year, several Ligue 1 players refused to take part in a gesture of support against homophobia, which called for players to wear a shirt with a rainbow-coloured number on the back.</p>
