I have tried numerous different meditations over the years including Vipassana, Sahaj, Sudarshan Kriya, yoga nidra, sound healing, flute meditation, candle meditation, pranayama and others. For every morning of the week, I decide to wake up and meditate, only feeling paralyzed by the amount of information I already have on the topic of wellness and thus, not able to meditate. I suffer from information paralysis perhaps.&nbsp; 
 
It’s no different with fitness. There’s a gym, HIIT, Pilates, yoga, aerial, boxing and other formats of meditation, I can’t pick one and stick to it without feeling FOMO.&nbsp; 
 
Recently, I explored the new long-stay wellness programme at Dharana at Shillim where I was taken by surprise by their simple regimen for wellness. Yoga once a day and a simple sound healing supplemented with a pranayama lasting around 45 minutes. It was a regimen that seemed too easy to miss and maybe that’s why I stuck to it - even after I went back home. Sure, compared to the diverse yoga and meditation rituals found today, the same yoga and meditation ritual sounds boring and unintellectual. However, it’s doable. And I need to practice meditation and yoga, not just learn them and feel confused and overwhelmed with knowledge.&nbsp; 
 
There was a certain ease I found in life beyond the monotony. Even though I was in the same environment in the middle of nature and lush Sahyadri mountains, I observed new things everyday and found beauty in it. Be it clouds chasing over mountain tops or noticing the stunning flower that blooms once in seven years and realising how my life might be similar to that. Life is perhaps not a long race but a slow one and the slowest person wins was my takeaway from the flower that blooms once in seven years. How touching. The nature walk was simple unlike my extreme adventure Himalayan treks, but it was enough to make me reconnect with myself.&nbsp;

As someone who has never stuck to the same kind of cuisine for more than two meals, I was surprised to see how easily I adapted to eating healthy food for every meal. Be it Indian thalis, Buddha bowls, roasted bell pepper soup or broccoli salad with almonds sliced on it - the spiceless food started tasting better with each meal. Moreover, a cooking class I engaged in made me realise I am capable of preparing simple and healthy meals for myself. Millet pulao and sweet potato chaat barely take 15 minutes to prepare.&nbsp; 
 
As someone who tends to intellectualize more than put to practice, I realised the importance of practice. With each breath of pranayama, which I was taught in grade 3 of school, I realised how little I know about how to put pranayama to practice. I know the theory of breath and how to do pranayama but without practice theory does not help at all. I realised what I needed most was going back to basics and implementing basics. Even putting basics to practice is challenging enough. 
 
The importance of connecting with Earth for wellness cannot be ignored. As children, I played in the mud or on school grounds. However, as an adult I have lost touch with the Earth element. Growing spinach on a farm during the retreat felt like going to basics again. I had read about gardening but surprisingly I planted the first ever plant of my life at the retreat, at the age of 25.&nbsp;

Our work in the Aghanashini mangrove forest is not just about conservation, it’s about creating a balanced ecosystem where nature and the community coexist. We’ve conducted multiple assessments on nature capital here, ensuring we understand the true value of this biodiverse wetland. By halting harmful projects and playing a key role in securing the Ramsar designation for the region, we’ve safeguarded this ecosystem. As a wetland of international importance, it will now receive increased protection and become eligible for international funding for conservation efforts.&nbsp; 
 
2. As someone from a background in Finance, what inspired you to transition into Environmental Conservation and Responsible Tourism?&nbsp; 
 
I have always been marveled by the wonders of nature. Nothing gives me more joy than being in the natural world. Nature is the very foundation of our traditions, culture, economy, and lifestyle. At a deeper level, I felt a calling to protect and work with nature, seeking models that allow us to do business in harmony with the environment while conserving it. I believe there is immense potential for profit in nature-positive economic models, especially when we incorporate technology, science, innovation, and inclusivity. This approach not only sustains natural ecosystems but also drives growth. The experiences I've gained from starting and growing business ventures, along with creating value, have become invaluable as I embark on this new path of entrepreneurship and stewardship in nature.&nbsp; 
 
3. What is your vision for supporting the Government of Karnataka's tourism strategy, particularly in fostering sustainable and nature-conscious tourism along the coast?&nbsp;

While the opportunities are vast, it’s crucial to turn this vision into action by establishing a framework for accountability, building core infrastructure from the ground up, promoting ease of doing business, and embedding nature-conscious principles into every aspect of development. Luxury Italian shoe company Tod's on Thursday named John Galantic, a former top manager at Chanel, to replace founder Diego Della Valle as chief executive.

The appointment comes after L Catterton, an investment fund associated with luxury giant LVMH, made a friendly takeover bid for Tod's in February, which allowed it to delist from the Milan Stock Exchange.

Galantic's "proven experience in the luxury sector with a specific focus on brand building will help Tod's Group to increase its growth potential globally", the Italian firm said.

Galantic was president and chief operating officer of Chanel between 2006 and 2023, and also sits on the board of Ferrari.

Della Valle, whose family founded Tod's in 1978, will stay on as chairman along with his brother Andrea Della Valle as vice chairman.

In the wake of the takeover bid, the family has a 54 percent stake in the company, with L Catterton controlling 36 percent and LVMH retaining its 10 percent stake.

This mosquito-borne disease causes severe swelling in the limbs and other body parts, it can further progress to a chronic stage, including lymphoedema (tissue swelling) or elephantiasis (skin/tissue thickening) of limbs and hydrocele (scrotal swelling) leading to disability, profoundly affecting the lives of millions. However, India is fighting back with a multi-layered five-pronged strategy to make the country LF-free. This includes Mission Mode Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaigns, Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention (MMDP), Vector Control (Surveillance &amp; Management), High-Level Advocacy and Innovative Approaches like exploring alternate diagnostics.&nbsp;

Social mobilization intricately links every part of this strategy to another. It empowers communities to take ownership of public health interventions by bringing together local stakeholders, health workers, and civil society as one to transform top-down government strategies into grassroot level movements. Social mobilization is thus essential in creating an integrated approach to LF prevention as it helps spread awareness of the biannual administration of essential drugs along with vector control strategies. To overcome impediments to MDA implementation social mobilization is important. It helps in increasing the coverage of preventive treatment by overcoming misinformation and reluctance towards treatment. This helps in adapting messages to fit local contexts. It also overcomes cultural and logistical barriers, and encourages community members to proactively participate in MDA rounds, especially in remote areas. They employ a mix of methods, including door-to-door visits, street theater, local media, and social networks, to spread awareness about Lymphatic Filariasis, correct false beliefs and encourage participation in MDA programs and other prevention tactics. Public appeal videos disseminated via social media channels by prominent leaders encourage widespread public participation in MDA rounds.

In the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, which are some of the most high-burden states, an MDA coverage of 92%, 95%, and 90% was achieved, respectively, demonstrating how grassroots engagement boosts participation even in the most populous regions. In UP and Bihar, social mobilization has been facilitated through Filaria Patient Networks, which proved to be helpful in overcoming drug resistance in these states with a turnaround of 76% in drug compliance. They organized over 2000 MDA activities to reach 134000 beneficiaries. Medical colleges and rotaries have also launched awareness campaigns, supervised MDA activities and community events, and resource mobilization in different endemic regions.

The critical challenge in fighting LF is the stigma attached to the physical manifestations of the disease, which leaves many affected by the disease isolated from society. In fact, many patients are considered “cursed” and face exclusion from social events, are abandoned by their families, and lose employment opportunities. Patient support groups (PSGs) have also played their part in providing a solution to this by educating and assisting patients about healthcare services and to avail them equitably. In Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district, PSGs have been coordinating with the Health Department to provide MMDP kits to the patients and educate them on how to manage LF symptoms.

These stories show that when government efforts are backed by the strength of people, they can reap substantial benefits and large-scale impacts by enhancing community engagement and health-seeking attitudes.

Generating demand for preventive care and medicines using platforms like self help groups and survivor networks is another benefit accruing out of social mobilization. This helps in extending help to even the most marginalized communities. In this process these social mobilization enablers end up creating communities of knowledge aggregators by spreading useful information and personal experiences about the disease, like schools, colleges and other institutions.

Social mobilization's benefits extend beyond fostering dialogues. It also closes the gap between communities and healthcare initiatives through practical implementation. All of this becomes possible because of the relentless support and dedicated efforts of District Magistrates (DMs), Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), and other key officials at the district and block level, whose work ensures that social mobilization strategies are implemented effectively and reach the most at-risk populations.&nbsp;

Inter-sectoral convergence helps in amplifying the reach of grassroot level efforts by pooling in resources and coordinating efforts between different ministries and departments from the national level to the states and districts. This is for example shown by The Ministry of Rural Development which has been mobilizing self-help groups (SHGs) to increase drug compliance. The Ministry of Youth Affairs has also been vital in mobilising the youth by involving National Service Scheme (NSS) coordinators. They have been crucial in the MDA implementation and awareness efforts.&nbsp;

When government and communities join forces, they build coordinated parts of one machinery that guarantees that benefits are delivered to those in dire need. Social mobilization thus forms an integrative approach in tackling public health challenges therefore providing grounds to tackle several other public health challenges. The catwalk became a tribute to the "Material Girl", with all models in blond wigs, some in corsets with pointy breasts, others in black men's tuxedos embellished with trouser braces.

But at Bottega Veneta, not only fashion fans were watching, but investors too.&nbsp;

Krishna Das is an international chanting icon described by the New York Times as “the chant master of American yoga”. An American by birth, Krisha Das has been singing Hindu hymns or bhajans for decades. Das has created a chanting movement across the globe and has released seventeen albums since 1996.

His upcoming show is in Mumbai at NESCO, Goregaon on October 20. &nbsp;

WION catches up with Krishna Das to know more about his life, how chanting has been transformational and oneness in a world fueled by war.&nbsp;

1. What line of thought are you from? &nbsp;

I am a devotee of Neem Karoli Baba from North India, who many believe is a reincarnation of Hanuman itself. From 1970 to 1973 I lived with Neem Karoli Baba. I wanted to live with him forever but he suggested I go back to America since I had karmas to work out there. &nbsp;

My guru Neem Karoli Baba used to say “Sab ek” (all one). Many paths, many names, all one. This has made it easy for me to take teachings from different paths. I’ve learned everything leads to love, to our true selves and true nature.

2. How has chanting created personal breakthroughs in your life?&nbsp;

The practice of chanting is very simple. One repeats sounds which are called names of Gods. When one finds their mind wandering away they can simply come back to the name of God. We spend all of our lives lost in obsessive thinking and obsessive programs running in our minds, all the ways in which we define ourselves and many definitions are negative. They cause suffering, isolate us and prevent us from being happy. Chanting has helped me to connect with the living presence within. You can call it whatever you want to call it. There’s only one sun in the sky but every language has a different sound for it. The idea is that there is one true self and all beings are within that. The light of the supreme soul is what lives within all of us.

3. What are key lessons Neem Karoli Baba taught you in life? &nbsp;

Neem Karoli Baba was a Siddh Mahatma and he helped me experience my true nature. He said “You cannot talk to a hungry person about God” and he was very much into feeding people. His main teaching was love everyone, serve everyone and remember God. In this case, it means doing some kind of bhajan. We spend our whole lives thinking about ourselves - how does this affect me, what about me etc. This “me” is a sickness and we need to rid ourselves of it. &nbsp;Everything revolving around this is greed, neediness, ego and we need to rid ourselves of it. “Me” is just a bundle of thoughts we identify with. &nbsp;

4. What are you looking forward to during your Mumbai show? &nbsp;

I am very happy to come and sing to people. I have no expectations. I look forward to chanting and hope people chant with me. &nbsp;

5. What is your vision for the world?&nbsp;

This world is full of people. As long as people are full of anger, grief, shame, violence - the world will be full of that. We can try to remove the sorrow of the world to ensure the world is more satisfied. It is only possible if we fill more people’s hearts with love. &nbsp;

6. &nbsp;Are people more receptive to satsangs now than before in an era of concerts? &nbsp;

I am very surprised, especially after the pandemic at the intensity of people singing. We all need to free ourselves of the thoughts and suffering of the pandemic, besides the physical suffering. People are anxious to find peace within.&nbsp;

7. &nbsp;Can you share some personal transformation journey stories of people you have met?&nbsp;

I have met people across the world who have been gracious about their experiences with chanting and how it creates something for them to come back to. It’s an anchor in their lives. We need anchors so the boats of our life are not blown around, we are not drowning in the ocean. In this case, chanting helps to create that. It’s the sound of the name within us and represents our true name.&nbsp;

8. In a war-torn and divided world, how can people realise the inherent oneness amongst us?&nbsp;

I don’t think for most people the concept of oneness is real. Oneness is the final ultimate of all truth. We live in a relative world full of our subjective versions of the world. Everything we see, feel, think is based on our own subjective versions and dictated by our needs, wants, likes, dislikes. People should begin to release their anger, frustration, anxiety and drama. People should be honest about what’s causing pain for themselves, their loved ones and the world in general. Oneness is all around us however we don’t know that. I don’t think it’s useful to think we can manipulate our emotions to feel something that can be oneness. We are always trying to avoid suffering and feel pleasure. However, that pushes away from oneness. One has to release the anger and fear within and find love that’s real.

An American by birth, Krisha Das has been singing Hindu hymns or bhajans for decades. Das has created a chanting movement across the globe and has released seventeen albums since 1996. His upcoming show is in Mumbai at NESCO, Goregaon on October 20. WION catches up with Krishna Das to know more about his life, how chanting has been transformational and oneness in a world fueled by war. 1. What line of thought are you from? I am a devotee of Neem Karoli Baba from North India, who many believe is a reincarnation of Hanuman itself. From 1970 to 1973 I lived with Neem Karoli Baba. I wanted to live with him forever but he suggested I go back to America since I had karmas to work out there. My guru Neem Karoli Baba used to say “Sab ek” (all one). Many paths, many names, all one. This has made it easy for me to take teachings from different paths. I’ve learned everything leads to love, to our true selves and true nature. 2. How has chanting created personal breakthroughs in your life? The practice of chanting is very simple. One repeats sounds which are called names of Gods. When one finds their mind wandering away they can simply come back to the name of God. We spend all of our lives lost in obsessive thinking and obsessive programs running in our minds, all the ways in which we define ourselves and many definitions are negative. They cause suffering, isolate us and prevent us from being happy. Chanting has helped me to connect with the living presence within. You can call it whatever you want to call it. There’s only one sun in the sky but every language has a different sound for it. The idea is that there is one true self and all beings are within that. The light of the supreme soul is what lives within all of us. 3. What are key lessons Neem Karoli Baba taught you in life? Neem Karoli Baba was a Siddh Mahatma and he helped me experience my true nature. He said “You cannot talk to a hungry person about God” and he was very much into feeding people. His main teaching was love everyone, serve everyone and remember God. In this case, it means doing some kind of bhajan. We spend our whole lives thinking about ourselves - how does this affect me, what about me etc. This “me” is a sickness and we need to rid ourselves of it. Everything revolving around this is greed, neediness, ego and we need to rid ourselves of it. “Me” is just a bundle of thoughts we identify with. 4. What are you looking forward to during your Mumbai show? I am very happy to come and sing to people. I have no expectations. I look forward to chanting and hope people chant with me. 5. What is your vision for the world? This world is full of people. As long as people are full of anger, grief, shame, violence - the world will be full of that. We can try to remove the sorrow of the world to ensure the world is more satisfied. It is only possible if we fill more people’s hearts with love. 6. Are people more receptive to satsangs now than before in an era of concerts? I am very surprised, especially after the pandemic at the intensity of people singing. We all need to free ourselves of the thoughts and suffering of the pandemic, besides the physical suffering. People are anxious to find peace within. 7. Can you share some personal transformation journey stories of people you have met? I have met people across the world who have been gracious about their experiences with chanting and how it creates something for them to come back to. It’s an anchor in their lives. We need anchors so the boats of our life are not blown around, we are not drowning in the ocean. In this case, chanting helps to create that. It’s the sound of the name within us and represents our true name. 8. In a war-torn and divided world, how can people realise the inherent oneness amongst us? I don’t think for most people the concept of oneness is real. Oneness is the final ultimate of all truth. We live in a relative world full of our subjective versions of the world. Everything we see, feel, think is based on our own subjective versions and dictated by our needs, wants, likes, dislikes. People should begin to release their anger, frustration, anxiety and drama. People should be honest about what’s causing pain for themselves, their loved ones and the world in general. Oneness is all around us however we don’t know that. I don’t think it’s useful to think we can manipulate our emotions to feel something that can be oneness. We are always trying to avoid suffering and feel pleasure. However, that pushes away from oneness. One has to release the anger and fear within and find love that’s real.

Models walked down a red catwalk with lighting ranging from white to warmer shades, nodding to the "moment the sun dives into the sea at the end of an August day", De Sarno said in show notes.

“It’s the moment we find ourselves. This collection is a tribute to those moments, and an invitation to stop, seek your own moment," he said, as the show drew Oscar winner Jessica Chastain and Italian tennis star and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner among celebrity guests.

Accessories included large summer hats, an array of handbags and footwear that varied from loafers and boots to platforms with transparent heels.

De Sarno's colour palette included grey, brown, different shades of green, white, orange and red.

De Sarno, who presented his first Gucci show a year ago, has been resetting the Italian luxury brand with his sleek, pared-back creations since taking over from former designer Alessandro Michele, known for his eclectic, gender-neutral styles.

“A year later, this collection shows an accomplished journey of construction,” De Sarno said.

Gucci is the largest brand at Kering (PRTP.PA), where it accounts for half of the French luxury group’s sales.

In July, Kering reported a bigger-than-expected drop in second-quarter sales and forecast a weak second half, as the group works to re-energise Gucci while facing subdued demand from Chinese shoppers.

The Spring/Summer 2025 women's catwalk show from artistic director team Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons came as Prada enjoys outlier status in the luxury industry, having posted strong growth in the first half of the year even as its rivals see their sales slump.&nbsp;

The Italian brand's collection presented Thursday was an eclectic fashion romp down memory lane, teasing 1990's grunge looks with sadomasochism paraphernalia, a rainbow of coloured leggings, and even a nod to the space age mirrored looks of 1960s French designer Andre Courreges. 
 
"There is a plurality of Prada, elements from different eras coexisting simultaneously to challenge any theory of chronology, creating impossible contradictions, points of difference," said the brand in its show notes, citing "the notion of the superhero" as "the centrality of the individual".

Backstage, the designers broke it down, explaining they wanted to explore all ofPrada's past references, mixing up "the past, the present, the cool, the sexy, the serious..."

There were leather belts with thick steel rings that held up, garter style, low-slung pleated skirts -- paired with barely-there bandeau tops -- while the same steel hardware adorned a black shift dress, clinking as the model sauntered down the runway.&nbsp;

An oversized black sweater dress was adorned with long beige fringe at the knee and bold stripes at the chest, while a black transparent dress with exaggerated ruffled sleeves covered a green bodysuit worn with witchy black pumps.

Among its most daring looks was a lightweight black dress covered in feathers jutting out from the body, paired with a neon orange anorak.&nbsp;

But Prada showcased its refined side as well with a stunning buttercup coat dress with a shawl collar and three-quarter sleeves worn over an electric violet ribbed bodysuit, or a 60's-inspired simple black dress with ivory bands at the waist and short sleeves.

The '60s again made a bold appearance with bright metallic dresses in fabric encrusted with mirrors. Falling halfway down the shin, one space age look was paired with a canary yellow windbreaker and an oversized straw visor -- with no top -- encircling the head.

She introduced elements that jar, or look like a mistake, whether a visible seam or torn collar, "all while maintaining divine proportions and a refined taste," he added.&nbsp;

"By staying the course, it has built a distinctive identity and built a loyal customer base," said Conti.

The CEO of Prada, Andrea Guerra, told investors in July that the difficult macroeconomic context, in which low customer confidence, inflation and an economic slowdown in China has cut into sales, "requires us to be agile and precise in our product range, our communication and our global positioning."

Food Fussiness or FF is "the tendency to eat a small range of foods, due to pickiness and/or reluctance to try new foods," and peaks at around seven years of age, according to the study published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry.

The study participants were identical and non-identical twins whose food habits were tracked over 13 years. This is the first twin study of genetic and environmental contributions to the developmental trajectory of FF from toddlerhood to early adolescence, and stability and change over time, said the study whose lead authors are Zeynep Nas and Moritz Herle. 
 
The study found genetics, or specifically DNA, to be the top factor behind food fussiness.&nbsp;

"Genetic variation in the population explained 60 per cent of the differences in pickiness at 16 months, rising to 74 per cent and more from three to 13 years old," it said.

Individual differences in fussy eating, it said, were largely explained by genetic factors at all ages.&nbsp;

"Fussy eating also shows a significant proportion of environmental influence, especially in toddlerhood, and may, therefore, benefit from early interventions throughout childhood," it added.

Hidden around Churchgate, Nksha boasts an international clientele and great Indian classic food. The gucci mushroom dishes were my favourite, knowing how challenging it is to source them.&nbsp;

Noa by Nutcracker

Noa is located at Kemps Korner. A small corner shop but so many options, I was taken by surprise. Their hot chocolate reminded me of the hot chocolate at Said Dal in London. I was fooled for a minute. I felt like I was in London.&nbsp;

TwentySeven Bakehouse 

The IT girl of restaurants in Mumbai, Aditi Dugar’s pizza spot with unique dishes and pizzas. Taking the gram by a storm, TwentySeven Bakehouse is a casual pizza spot that gives gourmet vibes. You need to reserve in advance, as tables are always sold out.&nbsp;

Brunch and Cake

As the name suggests, brunch and cake is an apt place for girlies looking to go out on a brunch date. The interiors are stunning and the food has classic American breakfast vibes. Pancakes and waffles anyone?&nbsp;

The collection also gave a nod to the resurgence of y2k fashion, with low-rise trousers, cargos and capris that end below the knee.

Before the show, Daniel Lee said he admired artist Gary Hume's "extraordinary use of colour", and his palette of green, lilac and orange is reflected in the collection, which ends with glamorous gold-sequined dresses.

Milan transforms once again into the world's fashion capital starting Tuesday, with Spring-Summer 2025 women's shows rolling out amid a global slowdown in luxury apparel -- and without longtime local icon Giorgio Armani.

A challenging environment for fashion won't stop the shows, however, which run through Sunday and kick off with Fendi.&nbsp;

The best in women's fashion benefits this year from the addition of one more day, the better to squeeze in 57 live catwalk shows attended by buyers, reporters and other industry professionals.

Highlights of the week include Italy's best-known luxury fashion labels, from Prada and Gucci to Bottega Veneta, Versace and Dolce &amp; Gabbana.&nbsp;

But Fashion Week stalwart Giorgio Armani will not be showing his namesake line, having chosen New York for his women's collection on October 17, timed to coincide with the inauguration of a new building on Madison Avenue.

His mid-level Emporio Armani line, however, will get two shows in Milan, followed by a party Thursday in the futuristic theatre located at his fashion headquarters.

Moncler has also shunned Milan this season, opting for Shanghai for its show on October 19, with MSGM, Blumarine and Tom Ford also absent from the calendar.

- Less rosy -

In presenting Milan Fashion Week's lineup to the press, the general director of Agenzia ICE, a division of Italy's Trade Agency that promotes Italian companies abroad, highlighted the industry's 108 billion euros ($120 billion) in turnover and exports of 81.6 billion euros.&nbsp;

In Italy, "the fashion system is the one that contributes more than others to consolidating the image of our country's excellence abroad," he said.&nbsp;

A crucial sector that represents five percent of Italy's gross domestic product (GDP), the health of Italy's fashion industry is currently less rosy than the coming glamorous catwalk shows would suggest.&nbsp;

So far this year, turnover is down 6.1 percent, according to figures from the National Chamber for Italian Fashion, with the trend expected to continue in the second half of the year.&nbsp;

Forecasts suggest the industry's revenue this year will end up down 3.5 percent from 2023 levels, with recent results from top luxury groups confirming the findings, which are in sharp contrast to years of double-digit growth.
