The accused, identified as Arun Sinh Jadhav, has been arrested, he said.

The incident took place near Maloli village in Malshiraj tehsil of Solapur on Tuesday night when the constable was asking people to stay indoors, a duty officer at Velapur police station said.

"At that time, Jadhav came in his car and started abusing the policeman. The accused sought an explanation from the constable as to why he had gone to check his brother's hotel," the official said.

Jadhav snatched the policeman's phone and threw it on the road. He then allegedly slashed the constable's left hand and face with a blade and started thrashing him, the official said.

"The accused then took out a bottle of petrol from his car and allegedly poured it on the policeman. However, a police patil (village-level official) and some others caught hold of Jadhav and stopped him from setting the constable on fire," the official said.

The constable, who is attached to Velapur police station, later lodged a police complaint in connection with the incident.
The accused was subsequently arrested and booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), the official said.

Singh was formally identified by police on Wednesday after his next of kin were informed.

A forensic post-mortem examination held at Fulham Mortuary in London on Monday gave the cause of his death as compression to the neck. Officers from the Met Police's Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) are investigating the case.

Mr Singh was subjected to a vicious assault; the severity of which has caused him to lose his life. My officers are working through hours of CCTV footage and speaking with people in the area to establish what has happened and identify those responsible, said Detective Chief Inspector Helen Rance, who is leading the Met Police investigation.

I would like to appeal directly to anyone who was in the vicinity of Station Road, Hayes, from around 2200hrs onwards on Saturday night who may have seen the victim in company with two individuals. Alternatively, if anyone is aware of the victim's movements earlier that day we would be keen to hear from them,? Rance said.

The Met's Homicide team wants to trace two people Singh was in the company of just prior to his death. It is believed a disagreement may have taken place during which the victim was assaulted.

An NFL player who was the part of Super Bowl-winning team Kansas City Chiefs is now on the front line fighting against coronavirus as a medical doctor.

Chiefs' Right Guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who is also at a "nursing role" at a long-term care facility in Montreal.

Laurent was picked in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft, in 2018 he earned his doctorate in medicine degree from McGill University Canada. He has gone back to his native country to help them in the fight against coronavirus.

He wrote an article in a sports magazine talking about the role and difficulties he faced, "I fell into a gray area where they didn't know what to do with me, because I don't have a license to practice -- yet," Duvernay-Tardif wrote on how difficult it was for him to come back to the medical field. "In the interim, officials briefed me on an almost daily basis, and I used my platform and credentials to relay their messages."

He was cleared to assist medical professionals, and he took a crash course learning the steps of sanitizing and putting the surgical gown.

"That stuff is more important than ever, to protect not only yourself but your patients," he wrote.

"There's so much that needs to happen just to visit with every patient -- masks donned and hands washed and equipment like gloves and visors tugged on and off and thrown away. I handled a medication cart, making sure to administer the right dosage and in the proper way. Honestly, I was drained after -- and looking forward to going back," Duvernay-Tardif wrote.

The inspiration to make the one-metre hat may have come from the Song dynasty.

Chinese emperor Taizu designed similar headgears to keep officials from whispering during assemblies.

However, it is noteworthy that children who already possess short attention spans are bound to be distracted by such headgears.

So, the children channelised their inner creativity and made innovative headgears from materials such as ballons, cardboards to obey these commands. The inspiration to make the one-metre hat may have come from the Song dynasty. Chinese emperor Taizu designed similar headgears to keep officials from whispering during assemblies. However, it is noteworthy that children who already possess short attention spans are bound to be distracted by such headgears.

The Public Investment Fund will be an important part of the deal that consists o three parties. The deal will include Saudi backed PCP Capital Partners, venture capital and private equity company run by British businesswoman Amanda Staveley, and real estate firm Reuben Brothers, which wants to buy the club from English businessman Mike Ashley.

Cengiz has criticized Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's move of taking over the premier league as a "PR tool" for distracting people's attention from the country's poor human rights records. Cengiz has held the Saudi government accountable for her fiance Jamal Khashoggi's murder.

She said: "UK authorities and the Premier League (sic) should not allow someone like Mohamed Bin Salman (sic), who has yet to face any accountability for the murder of my late fiancé, Jamal Khashoggi, to be so involved in sports in the UK,"

"Doing otherwise will greatly stain the reputation of the Premier League and the UK. Mohamed Bin Salman is strategically using international sports to repair his badly damaged reputation after the murder of Jamal."

In 2018, the CIA had concluded the Khashoggi's murder investigation by saying that bin Salman had personally ordered Khashoggi's murder, the prince had denied these charges.

In December 2019, the Saudi government sentenced five people to death after holding them guilty for Khashoggi's murder in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

United Kingdom has broken its previous record for coal-free power generation since the Industrial Revolution.

Coal-fired plants have not contributed to the generation of electricity in the British grids for 18 consecutive days.

This stretch has broken the country's previous record, which was set on 4 June 2019, partly because of a collapse in demand for electricity during the coronavirus lockdown because schools, shops, factories and restaurants have closed.

The greater use of solar power is another significant factor that has contributed to the decline.

This month National Grid said it may need to turn windfarms and some power plants off in order to avoid overloading the electricity grid.

According to National Grid data, Britain's energy system has not used coal-fired plants for more than 438 hours, the longest uninterrupted period since 1882.

The country has set a new solar power record on 20 April after solar farms generated more than 9.6GW of electricity for the first time.

The lower overall demand for electricity means low-carbon energy sources are able to make up a greater proportion of the energy system than usual.

Coal made up only 2.1 per centof the country’s total power mix last year, a dramatic fall from almost a quarter just four years ago.

It showed that the majority of new cases of displacement last year were in poorer countries.

The data used in the study was calculated at the end of 2019. It was revealed that 45.7 million people were internally displaced and effectively became refugees in their own country, as a result of violence in 61 countries.

An additional 5.1 million people in 96 countries had been displaced by natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods.

Contributing to the figures, it says, are 33.4 million new displacements recorded in 2019, the highest annual figure since 2012.

Alexandra Bilak, the IDMC director, said she had hoped internal displacement would receive more global attention this year, following the launch in October of a UN high-level panel to address the problem and find long-term solutions. The panel held its first meeting in February.
