"When it comes to public health risks, these farms and markets are much like the live animal market in Wuhan where the novel coronavirus is widely believed to have originated," said Jason Baker, Senior Vice President at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

"Filthy fur farms are packed with sick, stressed, and injured animals and are breeding grounds for disease."

Studies also suggest mink are particularly prone to coronavirus infection and could transmit the virus back into humans.

"If the objective is to reduce transmission, then yes, having these mink farms is a big risk because it makes it much more difficult to manage the epidemic and creates such big reservoirs of susceptible hosts," said Francois Balloux, a geneticist with University College London and co-author of a recent paper on COVID-19 transmission in minks.

But while authorities have stepped up checks and offered free coronavirus tests at some bigger breeding facilities, Beijing is seen unlikely to crack down on an industry that earns an estimated $50 billion per year in&nbsp;China&nbsp;alone.

Prices rising

Chinese mink suppliers and traders who had been struggling in recent years due to declining overseas demand are already benefiting from rising prices.

"It felt great," said Wang He, a Shangcun trader and breeder, whose earnings increased 30-50 per cent&nbsp;when the price of mink fur jumped after Denmark ordered the cull.

Chinese demand has remained strong, with rising wealth and little in the way of animal rights activism.

But the coronavirus outbreak triggered a blanket ban on all wildlife trading in&nbsp;China, forcing some smaller breeders out of business and causing "panic", according to an industry association.

In April, the government said mink, arctic fox, and raccoon would be classified as "special livestock" rather than wildlife, and would therefore be exempt from the ban.

There are now signs the market is responding to the culls in Denmark, which was responsible for about 40 per cent&nbsp;of worldwide output.

Many Chinese farmers were considering abandoning the business altogether, said Zhao Yangang, another mink trader.

"They were preparing to stop rearing but now the markets started to move like this they've started breeding again," he said.

Regarding a suggestion on providing vocational education in class IX, Pokhriyal said there are approximately 8,583 CBSE schools that offer vocational education.

He informed that over 2,80,000 secondary schools, nearly 40,000 colleges, and more than 1,000 universities are expected to provide vocational education with an internship after the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Minister also informed that CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) undertook a massive exercise to build online teaching capacities of their teachers as soon as the lockdown started, to ensure continuity of learning through online means, wherever possible."In the process, CBSE has trained 4,80,000 teachers, KVS trained 15855 and JNV trained 9085 teachers all India. The training was also imparted by NVS to teachers regarding online assessment", he added.

Pokhriyal further informed that teachers are being continuously trained for discovery-based and experiential learning. The new National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for School Education has also been initiated and NCERT will be expected to make changes in the textbooks in accordance with the new NCF. Areas, such as creative thinking, life skills, Indian ethos, art, and integration, etc. need to be integrated.

In a question relating to students to be made aware of the ethical values and morals, the Minister said that the National Education Policy (NEP), recommends, students should develop their ethical and moral reasoning.

"Following the ideals of NEP, the teachers can change the mindsets of the students and inculcate ethics &amp; values among the students", he said.

India on Tuesday assured Bangladesh of complete cooperation in ensuring barrier-free trade between the two countries and said that together the two countries can aspire for a better future for people, particularly farmers.

He said, "We have offered duty-free market access to Bangladesh in many products, including, agri-exports. Together we can aspire for a better and brighter future for people of both the countries, particularly for the farmers of both countries to benefit from economic prosperity."

According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce, the Minister said that India and Bangladesh share a very warm and cordial relationship, based on mutual trust and friendship which goes beyond the arithmetic of economic gains and losses. He further said that this partnership stands out as a role model in the region, for good neighbourly relations.

"Our ties have witnessed an upswing in the last 6 years. We have scaled up trade and economic engagement, besides implementing a number of connectivity and infrastructure projects," he said.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina share a common vision and pro-business policies which have enhanced governance in our two countries. They both share an ambition of improving the prosperity of the people, he said.
