<p>Napoli stunned Juventus 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw to claim the Coppa Italia on Wednesday and bring their fiery coach Gennaro Gattuso the first major trophy of his managerial career.</p>

<p>Paulo Dybala and Danilo missed Juve’s first two efforts in the shootout while Napoli converted all their attempts to win the trophy for the sixth time and end Juve’s hopes of securing the treble this season.</p>

<p>It was the first title to be settled in the Italian season which has just restarted after a three-month hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>

<p>Although it had been planned for the players to collect their own medals in a “self-service” ceremony, the Napoli players received theirs from the respective club presidents Aurelio De Laurentiis and Andrea Agnelli.</p>

<p>It was a remarkable achievement for 42-year-old Gattuso, who took over Napoli in December with the team in disarray after the players had rebelled against a week-long training camp imposed on them by De Laurentiis.</p>

<p>“Football has given me so much and that is why I have so much passion for it,” Gattuso said. “It’s something I can’t let go of, not even for a second.”</p>

<p>“Those of who have this job must have respect for it because we’re lucky. I want to see people who put passion into it, I want a sense of belonging and respect.”</p>

<p>Napoli could have won without penalties but were defied by an outstanding double save from Gianluigi Buffon in stoppage time.</p>

<p>New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the USTA would take “extraordinary precautions” to protect players, including robust testing, additional cleaning, extra locker room space and dedicated accommodation.</p>

<p>“Everyone is still waiting on an official announcement of details from the U.S. Open and tours about the season,” the spokeswoman said in a statement to Reuters.</p>

<p>“But if the conditions are as set out on paper for U.S. Open, as Simo (Halep) has been consistent in saying, it’s highly unlikely she will play.”</p>

<p>Her coach Darren Cahill had told Reuters last week the protocols were “incredibly difficult” and would probably not work for the two-times Grand Slam winner.</p>

<p>The USTA and men’s and women’s tours are expected to provide details later on Wednesday.</p>

<p>The Rogers Cup men's tennis tournament in Canada won't be played in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.<br />
Tennis Canada announced Wednesday that the event's start date will be pushed back until Aug. 7, 2021.</p>

<p>The annual ATP Tour event, which rotates between Toronto and Montreal, was scheduled to be played Aug. 8-16 in Toronto.</p>

<p>With the Rogers Cup 2020 women's tournament in Montreal shelved earlier this month and rescheduled for next year in the same city, the men's event also will remain in Toronto in 2021.</p>

<p>Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani on Wednesday said he doesn’t see the T20 World Cup happening in Australia later this year while adding the cricketing world can’t risk players’ safety in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp;<br />
Mani’s comments follow Cricket Australia Chairman Earl Eddings’s comments after the latter said that the showpiece event seems “unrealistic and very, very difficult” given the logistical and international travel concerns.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"God forbid if some player(s) falls ill or mishap occurs during the tournament, it will have a big impact and create panic in the cricket world and we can't take that risk," Mani, who also heads the ICC's Finance and Commercial Rights Committee, said.</p>

<p>Mani conceded that bio-bubble environment is feasible only in a bilateral series but would be difficult when 16 teams are participating in a tournament.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Having a bio-bubble environment is feasible for say a bilateral series like Pakistan in England, but it is very difficult when 16 teams are involved," the PCB chief added.</p>

<p>ICC, after their last Board meeting, had said that they would take a call on the T20 World Cup next month as it wants to take the best possible decision regarding the future of the tournament. Whereas CA chairman Eddings said the prospect of hosting the T20 World Cup is unlikely.</p>

<p>"I would say it is unlikely...Trying to get (teams from) 16 countries into Australia when most countries are still going through COVID spiking is unrealistic or very, very difficult," CA chairman Eddings said on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Livid with the International Cricket Council for continuing to put off a decision on the fate of this year's T20 World Cup, the BCCI has accused outgoing chairman Shashank Manohar of deliberately dragging his feet on the issue.</p>

<p>With Cricket Australia's chairman Earl Eddings once again citing his board's inability to host the global event from October 18-November 15, the BCCI feels that the ICC's "delaying tactic" could severely hurt IPL preparations.</p>

<p>"Why is the outgoing ICC chairman (Manohar) creating confusion? If the host cricket board doesn't want to conduct T20 World Cup, why will it take a month to announce the decision? Is he trying to hold BCCI to ransom?" a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.</p>

<p>The ICC, after a board meeting earlier this month, decided to wait another month and explore more contingency plans before taking a call on the event in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.<br />
The official feels that a quick decision on postponement would also help member nations plan their bilateral engagements.</p>

<p>"It's just not about the BCCI or the IPL. If ICC announces the postponement during this month, even those member nations whose players are not a part of IPL can plan their bilateral series in that window. The delay in decision-making will hurt everybody," he fumed.</p>

<p>A quick decision by the ICC will ensure that BCCI's (IPL) operations team can start preparing the likely hosts which will certainly include Sri Lanka where there are three grounds -- Premadasa, Pallekele and Hambantota.</p>

<p>Sri Lanka is being seen as more cost effective compared to the UAE and as Sunil Gavaskar said that it's the ideal country to have a September IPL.</p>

<p>The BCCI vs Manohar feud is not new. The Nagpur-based lawyer's frosty relationship with another former BCCI president N Srinivasan is believed to be the root cause of the tensions.</p>

<p>"He has been a former BCCI president, who worked against our interest. BCCI's revenue share was reduced despite the country contributing to ICC's revenue," the official said.<br />
Another veteran official, who has seen Manohar operate in BCCI for years, has a question for the ICC chairman.</p>

<p>"Why do you thrive in confusion? I want to ask Mr Manohar. The current situation is only increasing the confusion, creating a number of dilemmas," he said.</p>

<p>The other question that BCCI mandarins are asking is why the process of nomination for the next chairman has not been officially announced.</p>

<p>"There have been a couple of ICC Board meetings but things like e-mail leaks and investigation gained precedence over announcement of nomination process. If you ask me, I will never be sure till Manohar relinquishes the chairman's post and not seek a third term," the veteran official said.</p>

<p>An ICC chairman can have three terms of two years each.</p>

<p>In fact, an ICC board member fears that delay in nomination process could come in the way of making a unanimous choice.</p>

<p>"Colin Graves is still the front-runner and if Sourav Ganguly is not interested, he will also have BCCI's backing. In case of Ganguly, it will be interesting if he will throw his hat in the ring in case there is no unanimity," said the board member.</p>

<p>Ehsan Mani is considered to be a left-field choice who will certainly not have the BCCI's backing. The name of Debbie Hockley, president of New Zealand Cricket, is also doing the rounds.</p>
