With the announcement of NPS Vatsalya as part of the National Pension System of India, the spotlight has been shifted to the growing need to secure children's financial future.

Indeed, NPS Vatsalya has emerged as one of the best schemes to invest for children's better future and has a fantastic projection of an annual contribution of&nbsp;Rs 10,000 for 18 years at an expected rate of return (RoR) of 10 per cent creating a corpus of around&nbsp;Rs 2.75 crore till the time the child turns 60, which makes it very lucrative for the middle class.&nbsp;

NPS Vatsalya scheme is eligible for all minors and requires a minimum initial contribution of&nbsp;Rs 1,000 to open an account and a minimum annual contribution of&nbsp;Rs 1,000 in the years ahead which makes this scheme manageable for citizens from all walks of life.

“Under this scheme, parents can open an account right from the child’s birth. The corpus accumulated will be illiquid till the age of 60," said Lt Col (Retd) Rochak Bakshi, Founder and CEO of True North Financial Services, while speaking to WION.

However, there are other schemes also to invest for a financially secure future for children.

<h2>5 Child Investment Plans With Good Returns&nbsp;</h2>

<h3>1) Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana&nbsp;</h3>

This is the saving scheme launched by the Indian government with the intention to help parents save money for the education and marriage of their daughters. The scheme has an interest rate of 7.6 per cent. Its minimum deposit limit every year is Rs 250 and the maximum is Rs 1.5 lakh.&nbsp;

<h3>2) Child ULIP Plans</h3>

Child Unit Linked Insurance Plans (ULIPs) are bought especially for children. These plans have five-year lock-in periods and are generally purchased for a time duration of 20 to 30 years. According to the fund selected, the money is allocated in debt and equity securities. By the time, the child reaches the age of 18, partial withdrawals are permitted. The paid premiums fall under the 80C deductions.&nbsp;

<h3>3) Child Mutual Fund SIP</h3>

A systematic investment plan (SIP) for children is a monthly mutual fund investment for creating a corpus for their future requirements. The child's parents or guardians can start child SIPs with a minimum of Rs 500 per month for a period of 10 to 15 years.&nbsp;

Speaking about the benefits of SIPs, Bakshi said, "I feel that it will be better to invest for the child in pooled investments like mutual funds and then hand over the assets to the child on reaching the majority. These mutual funds can be aggressive and thus would have a better returns profile. At the same time, these will encourage active participation of the child in learning about Personal Finance issues."

<h3>4) Child Endowment Plans</h3>

Child Endowment Plans provide guaranteed returns as well as life insurance coverage. Generally, they have four payouts in which 25 per cent of the sum assured plus bonuses are transferred to the account of children after they reach the age of 18. However, the returns in such schemes are comparatively low.

<h3>5) Moneyback Insurance Plans</h3>

Moneyback insurance plans for children are similar to endowment plans, however, they provide regular returns at periodic intervals.

Money-Wise: Not just NPS Vatsalya, here are five other child investment plans in India

On Tuesday (Sep 17), hundreds of pagers of Hezbollah fighters suddenly blasted in an unprecedented attack which was called a brutal strike on the militant group's "Achilles' heel".

In the mysterious blast, at least nine people lost their lives and around 2,800 suffered injuries.&nbsp;

The nature of the attack surpassed the level of scope and execution seen in various covert assassinations and cyber-attacks that have taken place in the region in recent years. &nbsp;

Also, the technique reportedly used by Israel&nbsp;to rattle Hezbollah has placed a question mark over its ability to secure its communication strategy. "This is a very concerning development and it shows Hezbollah is very vulnerable to Israel's intelligence capabilities. The leadership of Hezbollah will have to overhaul its communication strategy and will have to come up with a solution which would be more secure than these pagers," said&nbsp;David Wood,&nbsp;Senior Lebanon Analyst at&nbsp;Crisis Group.

<h2>How did the pager explosion occur?</h2>

The wireless pagers suddenly exploded at 3:30 pm (local time) in Lebanon just after a message was delivered on the device, which appeared to have been sent by the leadership of Hezbollah.&nbsp;

As per the officials, the delivery of the messages activated the explosives as the device beeped for many seconds before it exploded.&nbsp;

Nearly 3,000 pagers exploded in the blast. Speaking to the news agency Reuters, a Lebanese&nbsp;security source said that nearly three grams of explosives were hidden in the new pagers and Hezbollah had failed to detect it for months.

Hezbollah has claimed that the attack was orchestrated by Israel, however, the latter has not commented on the attack.&nbsp;

The pagers which exploded had been recently purchased by Hezbollah said a Lebanese security source to CNN.

The explosions have underscored how vulnerable Hezbollah’s communication network is and how it was compromised which led to the deadly blasts.

"This is an extraordinary assault, notable not only for its lethal precision but also for the secrecy surrounding its execution. The attack has left Hezbollah reeling from a severe security breach, and recovery is likely to be slow. The immediate toll—marked by substantial casualties and an urgent scramble for a new, secure means of communication—compounds the group’s vulnerabilities," said&nbsp;Mohammed Soliman, Director,&nbsp;Strategic Technologies and Cyber Security Programme while speaking to WION.

<h2>How were the pagers compromised and turned into explosives?</h2>

The blast showed the world how the compromise of low-tech wireless communication devices can turn deadly.&nbsp;

As per a report by The New York Times, the pagers of Hezbollah were probably compromised during the joint operation between the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel's intelligence agency Mossad.

As per the report, Israel probably kept the explosives inside a batch of pagers and embedded a switch in it to detonate the explosives remotely.&nbsp;

Speaking to The New York Times, International Security Program at Center for Strategic and International Studies deputy director Emily Harding said that there are chances of the pagers getting intercepted by Israeli operatives in between the supply chain before they got delivered to Hezbollah.&nbsp;

Taking to X, director of Armament Research Services N R&nbsp;Jenzen-Jones said that the attack's videos suggest that the “explosive devices were integrated into the pagers."

“The scale suggests a complex supply-chain attack, rather than a scenario in which devices were intercepted and modified in transit," he added.

However, some experts argue that modern consumer devices like pagers contain lithium-ion batteries which can explode or catch on fire if they turn too hot or are brought in contact with metals. But considering the scale of the explosion, it appeared highly unlikely that it was caused by just the battery.&nbsp;

According to a report by Sky News Arabia, Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), which is a highly explosive material, was reportedly placed by Mossad agents in the batteries of the pagers.&nbsp;

Speaking about the massive impact that Hezbollah suffered from the attack with WION, Fellow, Strategic Studies Programme at Observer Research Foundation&nbsp;Kabir Taneja said, "The major takeaway for Hezbollah for this experience is that Israel’s messaging being it still has accessibility deep into the group’s hierarchy and supply chains. So even if a full scale war is avoidable a clandestine war to degrade Hezbollah is very much on the cards."

<h2>Who were the makers of the pagers?</h2>

The pagers which blasted and caused massive losses to the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah were made a European distributor, as per the chairperson of a Taiwanese company Gold Apollo.&nbsp;

Speaking to reporters, Gold Apollo founder and chairperson Hsu Ching-kuang said that a contract was signed by his firm with a European distributor - Budapest-based BAC Consulting KFT - for using the Gold Apollo brand.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He added that the contract was signed with the distributor nearly three years ago.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Initially, the Gold Apollo’s other pager and communication products were only imported by the European company.

However, later the company informed Gold Apollo that they wished to create their own pager and asked for the right to use the brand of the Taiwanese company. &nbsp;

<h2>Why did Hezbollah use pagers?</h2>

For Hezbollah, secrecy has been their most important military strategy. The members of the militant group were known to communicate through an internal communications network.&nbsp;

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had earlier asked the members of the militant group and their families in southern Lebanon to throw away their cellphones, as they feared that their movement could be tracked by Israel through those devices.

“Shut it off, bury it, put it in an iron chest and lock it up. The collaborator (with the Israelis) is the cell phone in your hands and those of your wife and your children. This cell phone is the collaborator and the killer," Nasrallah said.

The militant group at that time decided to instead switch to low-tech technology to connect to each other and hence, turned to pagers.&nbsp;

Speaking about the failure of Hezbollah's plan to use pagers as secured communication devices to stop Israel from intercepting their locations, Wood said, "This is the first time Israel has used communication devices as weapons. Hezbollah was already worried about Israel's ability to interfere with its communications. In fact, this is the reason Hezbollah has been using pagers in the first place because earlier in the conflict it worried that Israel was using mobile phones to locate Hezbollah members, including its senior members. So now this means that Hezbollah's plan to use pagers has also been compromised."&nbsp;

So, what will be Hezbollah's next step to create more secure communications among its members after this embarrassing attack allegedly by Israel and will it impact their military ability?

"It will still be possible for Hezbollah leaders to talk with each other directly or to send messages through couriers who can take messages from members to members. However, it can slow down the efficiency of Hezbollah's military operation because such communication strategies are more time-consuming," said Wood, while speaking to WION.&nbsp;

However, Soliman argues that "psychologically, the impact is immense. Hezbollah now faces an existential challenge: its once-trusted equipment is compromised, creating operational paralysis. This communication breakdown will likely force Hezbollah to rethink and overhaul its military operations. Such a transition carries inherent risks, increasing the chances of further operational missteps—gaps that Israel, ever watchful, will be ready to exploit".&nbsp;

The Earth's crust is continually being reshaped below the Konya Basin in the Central Anatolian Plateau of Türkiye over millions of years, as per the analysis of recent satellite data carried out by Earth scientists at the University of Toronto.

The researchers said that experimental simulations, in combination with geophysical, geodetic and geological data, explained that the basis has been going through the enigmatic sinking inside the rising plateau interior.&nbsp;

Earth's crust is 'dripping' beneath Central Anatolian Plateau of Türkiye. Here's what it means

In a stunning discovery, astronomers spotted the eruption of the largest twin jets from a black hole&nbsp;that&nbsp;can stretch for around 23 million light-years, which is equivalent to lined-up 140&nbsp;Milky Way&nbsp;galaxies.&nbsp;

The scientists saw the jets erupting from the heart of a supermassive black hole, which is located nearly 7.5 billion light-years away.&nbsp;

The jets which blasted out from the black hole released trillions of times more energy every second compared to our Sun.

"We've known about these structures made by jets from galactic-centre&nbsp;supermassive black holes&nbsp;for a long time, but this particular one stands out for three reasons," said team member Martin Hardcastle of the University of Hertfordshire, while speaking to Space.com.&nbsp;

Also Read:&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/science/a-primordial-black-hole-will-pass-through-our-solar-system-after-every-10-years-will-it-harm-759740">A 'primordial' black hole will pass through our solar system every 10 years. Will it harm?</a>

"First, it's the largest yet, at over 20 million light years from end to end, which means it goes from the centre of its parent galaxy right out into the void between galaxies and galaxy groups," he added.

"Secondly, it's one of the most powerful we know about, with a fast rate of matter infall onto the black hole. And finally, it is found when the universe was only roughly half of its present age, and is thought to have been a much more violent place with much more going on that could have disrupted the jets," Hardcastle said.

<h2>Scientists name the powerful jets 'Porphyrion'</h2>

The scientists, along with the team which discovered the megastructure, gave the gigantic jets a suitable mythic name, "Porphyrion," which was borrowed from&nbsp;Greek mythology.&nbsp;

According to the researchers, such an outflow of jets is likely to have played an important role in the&nbsp;evolution of galaxies in the early universe.

"Astronomers believe that&nbsp;galaxies and their central black holes co-evolve, and one key aspect of this is that jets can spread huge amounts of energy that affect the growth of their host galaxies and other galaxies near them," said team member George Djorgovski, professor of astronomy and data science at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), in a statement.&nbsp;

"This discovery shows that their effects can extend much farther out than we thought," he added.

Pophyrion was discovered by scientists using the LOw Frequency ARray (LOFAR) radio telescope.&nbsp;

"Giant jets were known before we started the campaign, but we had no idea that there would turn out to be so many," said Hardcastle.&nbsp;

"Usually, when we get a new observational capability, such as LOFAR's combination of wide field of view and very high sensitivity to extended structures, we find something new, but it was still very exciting to see so many of these objects emerging," he added.

In a stunning discovery, astronomers spotted the eruption of the largest twin jets from a black hole that can stretch for around 23 million light-years, which is equivalent to lined-up 140 Milky Way galaxies. The scientists saw the jets erupting from the heart of a supermassive black hole, which is located nearly 7.5 billion light-years away. The jets which blasted out from the black hole released trillions of times more energy every second compared to our Sun. "We've known about these structures made by jets from galactic-centre supermassive black holes for a long time, but this particular one stands out for three reasons," said team member Martin Hardcastle of the University of Hertfordshire, while speaking to Space.com. Also Read: A 'primordial' black hole will pass through our solar system every 10 years. Will it harm? "First, it's the largest yet, at over 20 million light years from end to end, which means it goes from the centre of its parent galaxy right out into the void between galaxies and galaxy groups," he added. "Secondly, it's one of the most powerful we know about, with a fast rate of matter infall onto the black hole. And finally, it is found when the universe was only roughly half of its present age, and is thought to have been a much more violent place with much more going on that could have disrupted the jets," Hardcastle said. Scientists name the powerful jets 'Porphyrion' The scientists, along with the team which discovered the megastructure, gave the gigantic jets a suitable mythic name, "Porphyrion," which was borrowed from Greek mythology. According to the researchers, such an outflow of jets is likely to have played an important role in the evolution of galaxies in the early universe. "Astronomers believe that galaxies and their central black holes co-evolve, and one key aspect of this is that jets can spread huge amounts of energy that affect the growth of their host galaxies and other galaxies near them," said team member George Djorgovski, professor of astronomy and data science at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), in a statement. Watch: Astronomers find a rare black hole that defies current theories "This discovery shows that their effects can extend much farther out than we thought," he added. Pophyrion was discovered by scientists using the LOw Frequency ARray (LOFAR) radio telescope. "Giant jets were known before we started the campaign, but we had no idea that there would turn out to be so many," said Hardcastle. "Usually, when we get a new observational capability, such as LOFAR's combination of wide field of view and very high sensitivity to extended structures, we find something new, but it was still very exciting to see so many of these objects emerging," he added. The sudden and tragic demise of Ernst &amp; Young's (EY) employee Anna Sebastian Perayil, 26, has taken the country by storm and has ignited a debate on the toxic work culture prevalent at some top consulting firms.&nbsp;

The debate started after the heart-wrenching letter of 26-year-old's mother Anita Augustine went viral, in which she blamed Ernst &amp; Young's toxic work culture for her daughter's death.&nbsp;

Anna had joined the audit and assurance team of the company in Pune in March of this year and died after four months allegedly because of extreme work stress.

Pro-life advocate and Trump fan,&nbsp;Mayra Rodriguez said&nbsp;that her "eyes were burning" as soon as she left the rally so she went directly to the emergency room.

"The emergency room staff, from the triage nurse to the PA asked are you sure you didn't get sprayed with something your symptoms look like you got sprayed with something," said Rodriguez, according to&nbsp;Daily Mail Online.&nbsp;

"I can't see anything when I try to open my eyes. I see a bright light. It hurts, it hurts a lot to open my eyes. I have this cold cloth I put on and take off constantly. It's horrible," she added.

Rodriguez stated her vision started getting restored by Tuesday (September 17) and the problem did not persist.

However, she was not the only one who suffered such an illness after attending the rally.

"It kept getting worse and worse, my eyes were watering a lot, my nose started running then I started feeling my face get really flushed and my neck felt like it was on fire and it just progressed from there," said another attendee, while speaking to KVOA.

Rodriguez's brother also complained about a similar issue. "It was all focused on my eyes, my eyes were red like hell you know, it's unbearable. I couldn't handle it," he added.

Multinational consulting firm Ernst &amp; Young (EY)&nbsp;has come under fire after the grieved mother of their 26-year-old employee took to social media to highlight their toxic work culture, days after the daughter died due to "work stress".

The employee, Anna Sebastian Perayil, was a Chartered Accountant from Kerala who had joined the company just four months ago.&nbsp;

Her mother Anita Augustine has now sent a letter to the head of their India branch - &nbsp;Rajiv Memani - highlighting the toxic work culture of the company and stating how human rights values are being missed by the firm.&nbsp;

<h2>Mother calls out company for her daughter's death</h2>

In her letter, the mother said that Perayil gave her CA Exams in 2023 and joined the company in March 2024.&nbsp;

Because it was her first job, Perayil “worked tirelessly to meet the expectations" which impacted her physical, mental, and emotional health badly.&nbsp;

“She began experiencing anxiety, sleeplessness, and stress soon after joining, but continued to push herself, believing hard work and perseverance were the path to success," the mother said.&nbsp;

She added that since many “employees resigned due to the excessive workload,” the boss of her daughter asked her to “stick around and change everyone’s opinion about the team”.

These pertain to the tragic passing away of Anna Sebastian on 20 July 2024, who joined us in our Assurance team in Pune on 18 March 2024. The fact that her journey with the firm was so short-lived - only four months - makes this tragedy even more poignant for all of us. Anna hailed from Kochi and worked at our Pune office. During the difficult period following her passing, the firm was in regular contact with members of her family. While we acknowledge that no measure can compensate for the loss experienced by the family, we have provided all the assistance as we always do in such times of distress while respecting the family's privacy and preferences. Though no words can comfort a grieving family, I have personally expressed my condolences and have shared my deepest regret for their irreparable loss. I received an anguished e-mail from Anna's mother and have taken note of her message with utmost seriousness and humility. I would like to reaffirm to all of you that our firm places the highest importance on the health and well-being of our people, and we will recommit ourselves to providing a supportive, healthy, and balanced work environment to you all. A trailcam, which was installed outside of Dublin, northeast of Dallas, captured a mysterious creature near a rural&nbsp;Texas community at night which left the wildlife officials shocked.&nbsp;

In the footage, what is seen is a small animal walking on four legs, with&nbsp;all the legs of different sizes and lumps down its back.

The images of the creature were shared by Michael 'Dumas' Demel with his friends and family who said that it was probably a skinwalker or chupacabra - which is a blood-sucking cryptid mentioned in American folklore, as reported by The Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, some have claimed that the creature was a&nbsp;chupacabra, which is famous for feasting on livestock as per the folklore.

"I have three different cameras at three different hunting areas – they catch coyote, deer, bobcats, rabbits, raccoons, foxes," said Demel, while speaking to Pen News.

"I look at approximately 100 plus pics from the three cameras daily, but that was the only photo it showed up on. My first reaction was something didn't look right, so I stopped on the picture to zoom in. My first instinct was that it was a monkey," he added.

In the picture, the eerie creature was seen to have a long snout, small top of the head and lumps down its back which made many believe it was a skinwalker.

In a shocking incident, a school in Britain has allowed a child to officially identify himself as a wolf, as per a report by The Daily Mail.

According to the report, the secondary school pupil is believed to suffer from "species dysphoria", which is a condition in which someone claims that a different species has taken over their body. The school teachers have also extended their support to the claim of the youngster.

This seems to be a common trend in Britain where various schoolchildren are believed to be taking over the personalities of creatures like foxes, dragons, birds, snakes, sharks and even dinosaurs.

Speaking about the condition with The Daily Mail, clinical neuropsychologist Dr Tommy MacKay said, "There is no such condition in science as 'species dysphoria'. It's not surprising that we are seeing this in an age when many people want to identify as something other than they are."&nbsp;

"Now we have a council which appears to accept at face value that a child identifies as a wolf, rather than being told to snap out of it and get to grips with themselves, which would be the common-sense approach," he added.

The official documents reveal&nbsp;how a school in Scotland, in the first-known case, has recognised that a student is identifying himself as an animal.

According to the local authority, the student&nbsp;belonged to a group known as "furries" and identified himself with "animal persona".&nbsp;

The council stated that it offered "personal support" and "more specific support" from a "wellbeing worker", which included help with learning and counselling, and added, "There is very little specific guidance on species dysphoria."

The council explained that it followed Scottish government guidance called Getting It Right For Every Child (Girfec) and they used the "wellbeing wheel" to support students irrespective of the challenges.

Speaking about the issue, Conservative MSP Meghan Gallacher said, "Teachers who are already under significant pressure due to SNP cuts should not feel like they have to tiptoe around issues in the classroom."

"With all the other challenges facing schools, ministers should ensure that teachers feel confident that they can take a common-sense approach when these situations occur," they added.

Shocking! British school allows a child to identify himself as a wolf. Here's why

Vincent van Gogh's popular painting "The Starry Night" is widely celebrated for its artistic style, symbolism and for being a cultural icon.&nbsp;

Regarded as one of the greatest post-impressionist painters, scientists now have also determined that the crown jewel of Van Gogh's artwork is also scientifically accurate and abides closely by the laws of physics. &nbsp;

According to experts in China and France who closely examined the picture, the "hidden turbulence" in the depiction of the night sky closely resembled that of the turbulence seen in nature.&nbsp;

The painting prominently features a swirling blue sky with yellow moons and stars seen from Van Gogh's Saint-Remy-de-Provence asylum in southern France. Two cypress trees dominate the foreground on the left, while a village sits in the distance on the lower right.

<h2>Van Gogh's Starry Night follows Kolmogorov’s law</h2>

The researchers concluded that the picture obeys Kolmogorov’s law, which predicts atmospheric movement and scale according to measured inertial energy.

“With a high-resolution digital picture, we were able to measure precisely the typical size of the brushstrokes and compare these to the scales expected from turbulence theories,” said study co-author Yongxiang Huang of the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science at Xiamen University in China.

Yongxiang stated that the Dutch master's work "reveals a deep and intuitive understanding of natural phenomena" which he probably would have learnt by studying the movement of clouds and atmosphere.&nbsp;

The relative scale and spacing of his whirling brush strokes may have given the said effect.&nbsp;

“Van Gogh’s precise representation of turbulence might be from studying the movement of clouds and the atmosphere or an innate sense of how to capture the dynamism of the sky," Huang said.

The researchers also analysed the bright light-like reflections in the painting and discovered that it closely aligned with another Physics theory, Batchelor's scaling, which essentially describes the smallest fluctuations in turbulence before it dissipates.&nbsp;

“Vincent van Gogh, as one of the most notable painters, had a very careful observation of turbulent flows: he was able to reproduce not only the size of whirls/eddies, but also their relative distance and intensity in his painting," the researcher wrote in the study.
