An outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) has made its way through dairy cattle herds across the country and infected one human, who had mild symptoms.

Earlier on Thursday (Apr 25) the FDA reported that initial results from a commercial milk sampling showed about one in five retail milk samples tested positive for viral fragments, with a higher proportion in areas where herds are infected.

Preliminary results indicated "pasteurization is effective in inactivating HPAI," the FDA said in its press release Friday.

Bird flu was previously detected in raw milk, which health authorities have long advised against consuming.

The regulators have again confirmed that till now no evidence has emerged which proves that milk is dangerous for&nbsp;consumption.

While speaking to journalists in Geneva during the launch of the 2023 annual report Friday, Lodhammar said, "We know that typically there is a failure rate of at least 10% of land service ammunition. What we do know is that we estimated 37 million tonnes of debris, which is approximately 300 kilos of debris per square metre."&nbsp;

The Israel-Hamas war started after the Paletine-based militant group launched a shock incursion into southern Israel in which they killed 1,200 people, according to Israeli tallies. It is believed that Hamas is still holding 129 hostages out of the 253 it took on October 7. In retaliation, Israel started the war against Hamas and began the&nbsp;military offensive.&nbsp;

So far in the war, at least 34,305 Palestinians have been killed and 77,293 wounded, according to Gaza's health ministry.&nbsp;

It could take over 14 years to clear debris in war-ravaged Gaza: UN official

For the first time since its COVID-19 vaccine was rolled out, AstraZeneca has admitted that it can cause a rare side effect. In legal documents submitted to the United Kingdom High Court, the pharmaceutical giant accepted that its COVID-19 vaccine "can, in very rare cases, cause TTS".

Here, TTS stands for Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome, which can cause people to have blood clots and a low blood platelet count.

The admittance, as per the Telegraph, could pave the way for a multi-million-pound legal payout.

AstraZeneca is facing class action suits over claims that its COVID-19 vaccine, developed in conjunction with Oxford, caused serious injury or death in dozens of cases.

The first case against the company was lodged by Jamie Scott, father of two, who was 44 when he received the vaccine. Ten days after the jab, Scott complained of tiredness and started vomiting. Soon after, his speech got impaired, and he had to be taken to the hospital, where physicians diagnosed him with a suspected case of Vaccine-induced Immune Thrombocytopenia and Thrombosis (VITT).

He survived the ordeal but was left with a permanent brain injury.

Alongside Scott, 51 cases have been lodged against the company, with victims and grieving relatives seeking damages estimated to be worth up to £100 million ($125.36 million).

Lawyers for the pharma giant, however, in a letter of response sent in May last year contended "we do not accept that TTS is caused by the vaccine at a generic level".

However, in the document submitted in February this year, AstraZeneca said, "It is admitted that the AZ vaccine can, in very rare cases, cause TTS. The causal mechanism is not known."

"Further, TTS can also occur in the absence of the AZ vaccine (or any vaccine). Causation in any individual case will be a matter for expert evidence."

However, lawyers for the victims argue that AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine is "defective" and that its efficacy has been "vastly overstated". AstraZeneca has strongly denied these claims.

Jamie Scott's wife, in a statement to The Telegraph, said, "The medical world has acknowledged for a long time that VITT was caused by the vaccine. It's only AstraZeneca who have questioned whether Jamie’s condition was caused by the jab."

She said while it has "taken three years for this admission to come…it is progress".

"But we would like to see more from them and the Government. It's time for things to move more quickly," she added.

"I hope their admission means we will be able to sort this out sooner rather than later. We need an apology, fair compensation for our family and other families who have been affected. We have the truth on our side, and we are not going to give up."

In her book, the South Dakota governor admitted to killing her dog named Cricket, a “wirehair pointer, about 14 months old”. The female dog, Noem said, had an “aggressive personality”.&nbsp;

According to the Guardian, the book included the story to show her willingness to do anything “difficult, messy and ugly” if it has to be done.&nbsp;

In the memoir, Noem said she had taken Cricket on a hunting trip with older dogs hoping to calm down the wild puppy. However, the 14-month-old dog chased the pheasants while “having the time of her life”.

On their way back, Cricket got out of Noem’s truck while she had stopped to meet a family and&nbsp;killed some of their chickens and bit the governor.&nbsp;

Noem repeatedly apologised to the family and wrote them a check while Cricket, according to her, was “the picture of pure joy”.&nbsp;

“I hated that dog,” she wrote and described Cricket as an “untrainable,” “dangerous,” and “less than worthless…as a hunting dog”.

After she had decided to put the dog down, Noem got her gun and led Cricket to a gravel pit. However, her tale of killing animals did not end there. In her book, she also wrote about killing a male goat, which her family owned, and described it as “nasty and mean”.&nbsp;

She also said that the goat smelled “disgusting, musky, rancid” and chased Noem’s children and knocked them down.

The South Dakota governor killed the nameless goat like she killed her dog after leading it to a gravel pit. However, in this case, the goat survived the first shot forcing Noem to go back to her truck to retrieve another shell.&nbsp;

It was around that time that she reportedly noticed that a nearby construction crew had watched her kill both animals.&nbsp;

“Kennedy looked around confused,” the governor wrote, referring to her daughter, who she asked, “Hey, where’s Cricket?”

<h2>Noem defends herself</h2>

After the report, the backlash against the governor was swift and amid the growing criticism, Noem took to X and said, “We love animals, but tough decisions like this happen all the time on a farm.”

She added, “If you want more real, honest, and politically INcorrect stories that’ll have the media gasping, preorder ‘No Going Back’”.&nbsp;

Noem’s post on X has over 14,000 comments, with many calling on her to resign and others calling her a “monster” or questioning why she didn’t just re-home Cricket.&nbsp;

A report by the news agency AFP on Friday said that Milei sent Conan's cells to US-based firm PerPETuate, which states on its website that five pups were the result of a cloning process, though only four appear on a photo that accompanies the post. The four dogs were named Milton, Murray, Robert, and Lucas. After his election victory in August last year, the 53-year-old thanked Conan, Milton, Murray, Robert, and Lucas for his win. Only these four mastiffs have ever been seen in photos with Milei. According to journalist Juan Luis Gonzalez, author of the unauthorised Milei biography "The Madman," the now-Argentine president consults all his dogs -- dead and alive -- with the help of a medium specialized in "interspecies communication." The medium, Celia Melamed, recently told TN television she had helped Milei "overcome the grief over his dog."
