<p>“These were registered XL bully dogs and prior to officers’ arrival had been contained inside a room in the house. They did not leave the house at any time during the incident."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The woman's family is being supported by officers as the community grapples with&nbsp;the&nbsp;tragedy.</p>

<p>There has been a notable increase in reported attacks in recent years by the breed.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Previous cases</strong></h2>

<p>In a previous case, a mother and son were jailed after an eight-year-old boy was seriously injured in an attack by an XL bully dog.</p>

<p>The UK government responded to the surge in attacks by introducing strict regulations. As of February 1, it is illegal to own an XL bully in England and Wales without an exemption certificate.</p>

<p>Owners who applied for an exemption needed to purchase insurance.</p>

<p>In addition to this, they also have to microchip their dog and pay a £92.40 fee per animal.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Older dogs must be neutered by June 30. However, there is a relaxation for dogs under the age of one as they can be neutered by this year's end.</p>

<p>Britain announced on Tuesday (May 21) that victims of the contaminated blood scandal will receive interim compensation payments worth £210,000 ($267,000) each.</p>

<p>The scheme to pay ‘comprehensive compensation’ will ideally be operative by the end of the year.</p>

<p>The total cost of the scheme is estimated at more than 10 billion pounds ($12.7 billion).</p>

<p>John Glen, the British Paymaster General acknowledged that people were “still dying each week from infections” and might fear that they would not live to receive compensation.</p>

<p>Subsequently, Glen said that before the full scheme’s establishment, interim payments would be made to living infected beneficiaries within 90 days, starting in the summer “so that they can reach those who need it so urgently most”.</p>

<p>Additionally, John Glen told the UK parliament that the government will establish the ‘Infected Blood Compensation Authority’ under interim chair Robert Francis, a senior lawyer, to supervise the compensation scheme.</p>

<p>The announcement comes a day after a bombshell report blamed the National Health Service (NHS) and successive governments for failures that resulted in more than 3,000 deaths.</p>

<h2><strong>Who will be eligible for the compensation?</strong></h2>

<p>Those eligible for interim payments include living-infected beneficiaries, people registered with existing support schemes, those who register with the support scheme before the final compensation scheme becomes operational, and the estates of those who pass away between now and payments being made.</p>

<p>Those who have been infected or affected as a consequence of the scandal are eligible for the final compensation scheme.</p>

<p>This would include people who have been directly or indirectly infected by NHS blood, blood products or tissue contaminated with HIV or hepatitis C or have developed a chronic infection from blood contaminated with hepatitis B.</p>

<p>Where an infected person has died but would have been eligible under these criteria, compensation will be paid to their estate.</p>

<p>As per the Infected Blood Inquiry, more than 30,000 people in the United Kingdom were infected with viruses like hepatitis and HIV after they were transfused the tainted blood between the 1970s and early 1990s.</p>

<h2>Compensation scheme open to families and friends of victims</h2>

<p>Glen added that under the main compensation scheme, relatives and friends of victims would also be able to claim compensation.</p>

<p>“That means partners, parents, siblings, children, and friends and family who have acted as carers of those who were infected are all eligible to claim,” he added,</p>

<p>The compensation payments will not be taxable.</p>

<p>In his statement, John Glen said full details of the compensation scheme will be published on the government’s website on Tuesday.</p>

<p>He confirmed there will be a wide-ranging debate in the House of Commons next month on the findings of the Infected Blood Inquiry.</p>

This would include people who have been directly or indirectly infected by NHS blood, blood products or tissue contaminated with HIV or hepatitis C or have developed a chronic infection from blood contaminated with hepatitis B. Where an infected person has died but would have been eligible under these criteria, compensation will be paid to their estate. As per the Infected Blood Inquiry, more than 30,000 people in the United Kingdom were infected with viruses like hepatitis and HIV after they were transfused the tainted blood between the 1970s and early 1990s. <p>The quakes also prompted many residents to rush out of their homes and onto the streets. Campi Flegrei, which is home to at least 360,000 people, has witnessed more seismic activity in recent years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, seismic activity is nothing new for Pozzuoli which is located on the Campi Flegrei, Europe’s largest active caldera (the hollow left after an eruption), but a 4.2-magnitude quake last September had already sparked fears among the residents.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>‘I’m scared’</strong></h2>

<p>Local authorities set up tents and organised around 400 temporary bunks for people as many people were scared to go home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I’m scared. I opened this morning but there isn’t anyone because people are scared,” Gaetano Maddaluno, 56, a hairdresser in the city of Pozzuoli, told AFP by telephone on Tuesday morning.</p>

<p>Local authorities also said that 140 inmates of the women’s prison were transferred to other institutions as they were assessing the damage to the jail.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The helicopter crashed in mountainous terrain near the Azerbaijan border while returning after the inauguration of dam at the common border with the Republic of Azerbaijan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Raisi's death was confirmed Monday morning.</p>

<p>From overnight, people in the Islamic Republic prayed for his safe return, but opponents of the regime have been celebrating with fireworks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In one of the videos, a female narrator said that the celebrations and fireworks happened in southern Tehran. In another video, a male narrator said that fireworks were in the city of Saqqez in northwestern Iran's Kurdistan province.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A video shared on social media shows Afsaneh Yousefi, whose son was executed alongside three other prisoners in January for alleged links to Israel, dancing in celebration after Raisi's death.&nbsp;</p>

"We spoke about the idea of spiritual democracies like going a bit further, when you just not judge on the moral laws, but you also go a bit deeper and you go on spiritual laws," she explained.</p>

<p>For Nistor, India stands as a prime example of how spiritual values can complement democratic principles, fostering a deeper sense of unity and purpose among people. "India is the main character that could tell us to humanity. India can be an example, to speak, to think for us as one family, the family of planet Earth," she asserted.</p>
