The ICC prosecutor Karim Khan, while filing arrest warrants&nbsp;applications,&nbsp;announced on Monday (May 20) that he has "reasonable grounds to believe" that these Israel and Hamas leaders "bear criminal responsibility for the following war crimes and crimes against humanity" committed&nbsp;in the Gaza strip from at least 8 October 2023.&nbsp;

Together we have engaged in an extensive process of evidence review and legal analysis including at the international criminal court in The Hague,” she said.

The panel concluded that Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Mohammad Deif, and Ismail Haniyeh have committed war crimes, including "hostage-taking, murder, and crimes of sexual violence".

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in a separate statement, also denounced the “shameful” bid by the ICC and said that Washington “reject(s) the prosecutor’s equivalence of Israel with Hamas.”&nbsp;

Blinken added that “this decision does nothing to help, and could jeopardise, ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement that would get hostages out and surge humanitarian assistance in.”

A nursery worker in the United Kingdom is facing charges for claiming the life of a nine-month-old baby girl.

Kate Roughley strapped Genevieve Meehan's face down to a beanbag for almost 90 minutes before she suffocated and died.

The 37-year-old Roughley, who is the deputy manager of Tiny Toes nursery in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, placed in "mortal danger" as a "punishment", heard the trial.

She was found guilty of Meehan's manslaughter following a four-week-long trial at a Manchester court and will be sentenced on Wednesday (May 22).

As per local media reports, the court heard that Meehan, who was called by her family as Gigi, was found strapped face down to a beanbag, swaddled in a blanket on 9 May 2022, in Tiny Toes' baby room.&nbsp;

Gigi's father, John Meehan, outside of the court said that his daughter's death had destroyed the family and there was not even a day when they did not grieve for her.

“Knowing what she had done, she could have taken responsibility and saved our family from enduring the horror of this trial. However, such a basic act of decency was beyond her. Instead, she has lied and lied and lied throughout and has sought to deflect attention to anyone but herself,” he said.

Meanwhile, Justice Juan Merchan said jurors would return a week from now (May 28) to hear closing arguments.&nbsp;

“Next Tuesday...you will hear the summations of the attorneys, you will probably the next day... hear my jury charge and I will expect you will begin your deliberations hopefully at some point on Wednesday,” Judge Merchan told the New York jury, as quoted by AFP.&nbsp;

The jurors would return next Tuesday, following the three-day Memorial Day weekend to hear the closing arguments.&nbsp;

Trump’s lawyers have asked Merchan to dismiss the case before it reaches the jury, saying that the testimony rests on the testimony of ex-lawyer and fixer-turned-foe, Michael Cohen, who has a well-documented history of lying.

While such dismissals are rarely successful, the judge indicated on Monday (May 20) that he was inclined to let jurors assess Cohen’s credibility for themselves.&nbsp;
