US-based kitchenware company Tupperware and its subsidaries have filed for bankruptcy after struggling to meet sales goals, ballooning losses and growing competition. The publically traded&nbsp;company filed&nbsp;for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and has asked the court for permission to start a sale process&nbsp;of the business.&nbsp;&nbsp;

According to bankruptcy filings in the US&nbsp;Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, the 78-year-old firm listed $500 million-$1 billion in estimated assets and $1 billion-$10 billion in estimated liabilities.&nbsp;

The company's shares have fallen by more than 50 per cent&nbsp;this week after reports that it was planning to file for bankruptcy.

"Over the last several years, the company's financial position has been severely impacted by the challenging macroeconomic environment," Chief Executive Officer Laurie Goldman said in a press release.

"As a result, we explored numerous strategic options and determined this is the best path forward. This process is meant to provide us with essential flexibility as we pursue strategic alternatives to support our transformation into a digital-first, technology-led company better positioned to serve our stakeholders."

The company, however, added that it will continue to serve the customers with its products while the bankruptcy proceedings are underway.&nbsp;

"Whether you are a dedicated member of our Tupperware team, sell, cook with, or simply love our Tupperware products, you are a part of our Tupperware family. We plan to continue serving our valued customers with the high-quality products they love and trust throughout this process."

A spokesperson for the NDP said that protesters gathered outside the parliament had been "intimidating" and "harassing" politicians, their staff and others.

"Jagmeet Singh does not tolerate bullies and does not condone violence," the spokesperson said in an email.

In the court documents, Analha, who is a young people worker on the council’s Targeted Support Team, complained that Pitt and her colleague commented "Your dog is male" when he claimed that his dog was gender fluid. He says it felt like "an attack on his ‘personal choices and lived experiences".

He stated that both the women made "some transphobic comments and this caused an emotional impact on the peer group."

Pablo has an Instagram page which Analha says he started "to bring awareness regarding gender and sexuality through my dog".&nbsp;

"I identify my dog as gender fluid, and I actually enjoy speaking with people about human gender expression and how we (as a society) imprinted this in animals and culturally we repeat the gender expressions and stereotypes to the young generation," he said in the employment tribunal documents in January 2023.

"When [the other employee] stated 'Your dog is male!' with a provocative and angry tone of voice, the group was silent and shocked, she ignored our previous conversation and I felt this was the first attack on my personal choices and lived experience."

Both women were reported for their "really aggressive tone" and "non-inclusive and transphobic" views. She was told that her comments had a "detrimental impact on the mental health and well-being of the complainants". Pitt was banned from contacting members of the group or attending meetings and so she decided to make a harassment complaint with the tribunal.

The judge stated, as per records, that Pitt suffered because of her "gender-critical beliefs" and was awarded over £55,910 and won £8,000 in legal costs. According to data from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a leading military think tank, such an increase would see Russia leapfrog the United States and India in terms of the number of active combat soldiers it has at its disposal and be second only to China in size. The IISS said Beijing has just over 2 million active duty service personnel.

The move, the third time Putin has expanded the army's ranks since sending his military into Ukraine in February 2022, comes as Russian forces push forward in eastern Ukraine on parts of a vast 1,000 km (627-mile) frontline and try to eject Ukrainian forces from Russia's Kursk region.

Although Russia has a population more than three times larger than Ukraine's and has been successfully recruiting volunteers on lucrative contracts to fight in Ukraine, it has - like Kyiv's forces - been sustaining heavy battlefield losses, and there is no sign of the war ending anytime soon.

Both sides say the exact size of their losses is a military secret.

Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of Russia's lower house of parliament's defence committee, said the increase in active troop numbers was part of a plan to overhaul the armed forces and gradually increase their size to match what he described as the current international situation and the behaviour of "our former foreign partners."

"For example, we now need to form new structures and military units to ensure security in the north-west (of Russia) since Finland, with which we border, has joined the NATO bloc," Kartapolov told Parlamentskaya Gazeta, the Russian parliament's in-house newspaper.

"And in order to carry out this process, we need to increase the number of troops."

Putin since 2022 had previously ordered two official increases in the number of combat troops - by 137,000 and 170,000 respectively.

In addition, Russia mobilised over 300,000 soldiers in September and October 2022 in an exercise which prompted tens of thousands of draft-age men to flee the country.

The Kremlin has said that no new mobilisation is planned for now, however, and that the idea is to continue to rely on volunteers signing up to fight in Ukraine.

Dara Massicot, an expert in the Russian military at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace think tank, questioned whether Moscow was ready to foot the bill for the increase in active servicemen.

"There are ways to staff a standing 1.5 million force but the Kremlin will not like them if they are truly grappling with what that requires," Massicot wrote on X.

"Are they really able to boost the defense budget to sustain procurement AND this requirement?"

Massicot, who has released a report on Russia's drive to regenerate its army, said Moscow could take the unpopular and difficult decision of expanding the draft size or change the law to allow more women to work in the military to reach such a goal.

"Look for signs that this is a real initiative to recruit and expand, and not a kind of show to intimidate others. The current volunteer method is working but has strains. This (the expansion) means more expense/strain," she said.

Donald Trump rolls out new cryptocurrency venture but provides little detail

Ohio Senator&nbsp;JD Vance has revealed what Donald Trump told him over the phone after the&nbsp;former US president survived a second assassination attempt in as many months on Sunday (Sep 15).&nbsp;

“The big difference between conservatives and liberals is that … no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months, and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump in the last couple of months,” Vance said.

Support for October&nbsp;7 did not necessarily mean support for Hamas or killings or atrocities against civilians, PSR said, adding that "almost 90% of the public believes Hamas men did not commit the atrocities depicted in videos taken on that day".

The poll showed a drop in the number of respondents in Gaza who said they support Hamas to 35 per cent&nbsp;from 38 per cent. But the Islamist movement remained more popular than Fatah, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, in both in Gaza and the West Bank.
