Rep. Barry Moore secures victory over Rep. Jerry Carl in a Republican primary race marked by incumbent-versus-incumbent competition.
In incumbent-versus-incumbent competition in primary races during US elections, two sitting members of the same political party compete against each other for nomination in a particular electoral district.
This scenario arises when redistricting or other factors force two incumbents to run against each other in a primary election. It's relatively rare but can occur when changes in district boundaries, such as those mandated by court decisions or population shifts, result in overlapping territories for incumbent representatives.
This latest contest in Alabama was triggered by a Supreme Court ruling mandating Alabama's adoption of redrawn congressional districts.

Haley campaign spokesperson Olivia Perez-Cubas said that her victory in Vermont made her the first Republican woman to win two presidential primary contests.
The result demonstrated deep fractures in the Republican party, Haley spokesperson said.
“Unity is not achieved by simply claiming ‘we’re united,’” she said. “Today, in state after state, there remains a large block of Republican primary voters who are expressing deep concerns about Donald Trump. That is not the unity our party needs for success. Addressing those voters’ concerns will make the Republican Party and America better.”

Biden released a statement to say that the Super Tuesday results leave the American people with a clear choice: "Are we going to keep moving forward or will we allow Donald Trump to drag us backwards into the chaos, division, and darkness that defined his term in office?"
"If Donald Trump returns to the White House, all of this progress is at risk," Biden said.
"He is driven by grievance and grift, focused on his own revenge and retribution, not the American people. He is determined to destroy our democracy, rip away fundamental freedoms like the ability for women to make their own health care decisions, and pass another round of billions of dollars in tax cuts for the wealthy — and he’ll do or say anything to put himself in power."
