A samosa seller’s inspiring story of cracking NEET UG, one of the toughest exams in India, is winning hearts over the internet.
Physics Wallah’s Alakh Pandey shared the extraordinary story of 18-year-old samosa seller, Sunny Kumar from Noida on Instagram, who cracked NEET UG to get admission in undergraduate medical programs.
At just 18, Kumar managed his studies with his small shop in Noida. He used to study after finishing school at 2:00 pm and also work at his samosa stall. After coming home fromthe stall heused to continue his studies till late in the night.
Physics Wallah, an educational tech company, shared two videos of Kumar from its official Instagram page. One video shows the room of the student Sunny Kumar and also captures Pandey’s surprised reaction to seeing how the walls in Kumar’s room are filled with notes. The other visual captures him praising Kumar for his achievement.

Kumar cleared the NEET 2024 exam with an impressive 664 marks out of 720 with just one year of preparation while working on his samosa stall for 4-5 hours, as per Physics Wallah.
"Bhaut baar sari raat padai karta tha phir subah aankhein dard karti thi" (At times, I studied all night, which used to cause pain in my eyes in the morning),” Kumar recollected.
While sharing about how he decided to pursue a medical profession, Kumar said his curiosity for medicines and how people get treated attracted him towards this exam and field of profession.

“Dawai dekh kar interest aya, log theek kaise hote hai, ye samjhna tha isliye Biology liya” (My interest was sparked by seeing medicines, and I wanted to know how people are cured, thereby choosing Biology),” he added while talking about his interest in the medical field.
He further said, “Selling samosas won’t define my future.”
Kumar has been studying at Physics Wallah since 11th standard, observing his struggles, Alakh Pandey offered him a scholarship of ₹6 lakh and promised to pay the tuition fees of medical college.
