Father makes daughter fill a bowl with tears for ignoring him while watching TV

Aman in China has come under fire for punishing his three-year-old daughter for watching too much television by giving her a bowl to fill with tears.
According to the South China Morning Post, the incident took place last month when the father, who is from Yulin, an autonomous province in southern China, was making dinner and motioned for his daughter, Guangxi Zhuang, to join him at the dining table.
The unidentified man noticed that his daughter nicknamed, Jiajia, was so engrossed in a television show that she had not heard him.
He then turned off the television in rage which made the daughter start crying. "You can watch TV again when your tears fill this bowl," he stated, giving her a large empty bowl.
In the video, shot and shared by the girl's mother, the little child can be seen gathering her tears in a bowl beneath her face and trying to squeeze her eyes further.
After holding the bowl for more than ten seconds, she told her parents that her hands were tired and that she couldn't do the task.
Her father then asked her to smile for him. According to the mother, the sight of the girl giggling with tears on her face pleased her parents.
With 220,000 likes on Douyin alone, the video of the crying girl became viral on Chinesemainland's social media. While many people thought Jiajia was a lovely child, others criticised her father.
News of parents taking harsh disciplinary actions towards children is common in China.
In 2022, a father in central Hubei province urged his disobedient 11-year-old daughter to spend hours digging for lotus roots in the hot Sun to teach her the importanceofeducation.
Meanwhile, some parents take a different route, showering their children with extra love and care. Earlier this year, in Shanxi province, central China, a father publicly knelt before his teenage daughter on the street, apologising for not being able to buy her an iPhone.
