Facebook&nbsp;has removed a number of posts and ads run by Donald Trump’s re-election campaign that featured a symbol used by the Nazis for violating its “policy against organised hate”.

The takedown on Thursday came amid increasing&nbsp;pressure on Facebook&nbsp;from civil rights leaders, Democratic politicians, and the company’s own employees to take a stronger stance against the president’s ugly and at times violent and hateful rhetoric on the platform, though it is not the first time that Facebook has removed Trump campaign ads for violating policies.

"We removed these posts and ads for violating&nbsp;our policy&nbsp;against organized hate. Our policy prohibits using a banned hate group's symbol to identify political prisoners without the context that condemns or discusses the symbol," Andy Stone, a Facebook spokesperson said.

The company said the offending ad contained an inverted red triangle similar to that used by the Nazis to label opponents such as communists.

Trump's campaign team said they were aimed at the far-left activist group antifa, which it said uses the symbol.

Google's Area 120 has launched a new app called Keen, which, the internet believes, is just like Pinterest, but only a little more complicated.

Area 120 is Google's team&nbsp;that is responsible for&nbsp;experimental projects.

Keen helps you gather more information about whatever you are passionate about, and it helps you find like-minded people.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/technology/to-boost-racial-equity-google-pledges-175-million-to-support-black-owned-businesses-306786/amp">Also read:&nbsp;To boost racial equity, Google pledges $175 million to support black-owned businesses</a>

Once on the app, the user can create 'keens' about any topic that he/she wants to know more about, or want to share information about. After creating a keen, the publisher can add information in form of pictures, videos, text or links.

There's also a feature called 'gems' that allows you to mark the information that you found to be particularly helpful.

Just like Pinterest, Keen, too, lets you add friends on the app. It provides you the option of sharing your 'keen' with the world or keep it private, and also allows you to follow people with similar interests.

However, considering this is a Google product, your search history, within the app, will play a major role in assisting the AI behind the app in compiling a history-based showcase of products.

The search and&nbsp;machine learning technologies are powering this system, which will able the app to&nbsp;recommend related content, on the basis of users'&nbsp;saved items.

"Keen isn't intended to be a place to spend endless hours browsing. Instead, it's a home for your interests: a place to grow them, share them with loved ones and find things that will help in making this precious life count," Google said about the app.

Google launches experimental app 'Keen' resembling Pinterest

It was a couple of months when I reviewed the Jabra Elite 75t. The true wireless earbuds from Jabra were my favourite pair for 2020 until now. The Elite 75t’s were very comfortable (never felt like they’d fall out), had a great sound quality that could be tuned further, excellent connectivity and even better battery life. The icing on the cake was the compact size of the charging case.&nbsp;

The earphones to have trumpeted them, you may ask? Well, Jabra themselves came out with something even better; Elite Active 75t. It may not be the revolutionary product you were all expecting but it is a slightly modified version - higher IP rating, rubberised coating and more - of the originals that elevate them to greater heights.&nbsp;

<img alt="Jabra Elite" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="6b498699-4476-4abb-83da-185d26a804cc" src="//cdn.wionews.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/jabra2%20%281%29.jpg" />

The Jabra Elite Active 75t’s are my go-to pair of TWEs in 2020. Let me tell you why.&nbsp;

Oftentimes, truly wireless earbuds prioritise convenience or certain features over good sound quality and battery life. With the Elite Active 75ts, that formula has been turned on its head.&nbsp;

I’ve been using the Elite Active 75ts for a couple of weeks now and I’m truly happy having them as my daily drivers. They’re the best-sounding truly wireless earbuds in the Indian market today.&nbsp;

The one noticeable difference between the Elite 75ts and the Elite Active 75ts is that the latter’s earbuds and charging case have rubberised textures unlike the smooth textures on the former.&nbsp;

The rubberised texture makes a huge difference in the comfort levels when holding the charging case or having the earbuds inside your ears. The earbuds themselves look really sleek and the colour coding between the case and the earbuds deserves a thumbs up.&nbsp;

<img alt="Jabra Elite" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="b2d430cb-498e-4830-9934-523804d3426b" src="//cdn.wionews.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/jabra5.jpg" />

Case and fit: Can wear them for many hours on a stretch&nbsp;

The case itself features a USB Type-C charging point but unfortunately doesn’t support wireless charging like that of the Galaxy Buds+ from Samsung and the AirPods Pro from Apple.&nbsp;

The fit on the earphones is always the number one priority for customers. This is because the sheer number of hours they’d be stuck inside your ears, so having something that is comfortable for the long run, is preferable. Let me just say this. The Elite Active 75ts felt comfortable even after using them for five hours straight. In fact, at times, I had forgotten they were in my ears. Each earbud weighs just 5.5g, while the charging case weighs 35g.&nbsp;

Furthermore, having no wires means TWEs are easy to wear in 2020. While we’re all wearing a mask, it’s easy to just pop these truly wireless earbuds into your ear and take them out whenever. You needn’t have to worry about them getting entangled in your mask.&nbsp;

Included in the box are three different-sized pairs of ear tips so that there is a right fit for everyone. For me, it was the medium-sized that fit snugly in my ears and refused to fall out during runs.&nbsp;

The one downside is that there is no active noise cancellation (ANC) like on the cheaper Galaxy Buds+. The earbuds offer good passive noise isolation that reduces ambient noise. This isn’t ANC but one could argue that you wouldn’t really need/use the feature while exercising, especially if it is outdoors. The Elite Active 75ts have a HearThrough function. This lets you simultaneously listen to your music/podcast as well as what is going on nearby.&nbsp;

Sound quality: Excellent, as always&nbsp;

The Elite Active 75ts&nbsp;sounds way better than they should. The bass is booming and the audio fills your ears like a concert fills a room. The sound comes into your ears just the same way a performance or a movie in a cinema hall does. It doesn’t escape you even for one minute.&nbsp;

There’s also a four-mic array that optimises audio quality during calls. One of the microphones in each earbud is dedicated to noise reduction while making calls.&nbsp;

A much-needed software update&nbsp;

At the end of May, Jabra released an update for the truly wireless earbuds, making them even better and fixing the physical controls that are so hard to get used to. The Jabra Sound+ app now features MySound and MyControls.&nbsp;

MySound customises the audio output based on your hearing. You’re taken through a hearing test - asked to tap the icon at every tone - for each ear individually. Based on the test - frequencies and volumes - the app creates a personalised sound profile. This tech is in collaboration with GN Hearing, a company that’s been developing hearing aids for decades.&nbsp;

MyControls lets you remap the buttons on your earbuds individually. All three controls - single, double or triple pressing a button - can now perform a different action. The one expected feature that hasn’t made it is that MyControls doesn’t allow you to operate one earbud independently. That’s a major disappointment. Jabra has promised to release an update, in the near future, to address this issue.&nbsp;

<img alt="Jabra Elite Active" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="940ce0dd-859c-4265-b5ea-0239f282cc5f" src="//cdn.wionews.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/jabra4.jpg" />

Battery life: Pretty stellar&nbsp;

The Elite Active 75ts are rated at 7.5 hours on a single charge and just about four more charges with the case for a total of 28 hours. I found it to be more or less accurate. I averaged about just over seven hours on a single charge during my test. The charging case died after two whole weeks of listening, which is pretty good.&nbsp;

The charging time though is somewhat slow but that shouldn’t put you off.&nbsp;

Verdict: A must-buy over the regular Elite 75ts&nbsp;

The Jabra Elite Active 75ts have some nifty differences from its elder brother, the Elite 75ts that make it a must-buy in today’s crowded TWEs market. If you really need ANC then you’re the best bet is the Galaxy Buds+ from Samsung.&nbsp;

Besides the lack of active noise cancellation and wireless charging, there is hardly anything to complain about the Elite Active 75ts.&nbsp;

The Elite Active 75ts fit snugly, sound amazing, have long-lasting battery life and a very stable connection. The compact size is the icing on the cake.&nbsp;

&nbsp;he only problem is that these cost Rs 15,999 on Amazon. That’s a hefty asking price in an industry where most of the launches in 2020 have been in the sub-Rs 10,000 price bracket. If you already own the Elite 75ts from Jabra, then there is no real need to upgrade to these.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Right now, the Elite Active 75ts is available in Navy and Copper Black (an Amazon exclusive) but by the end of the month, four more colours - Titanium Black, Grey, Sienna &amp; Mint - will be launched in India.&nbsp;

Facebook Inc said on Thursday it has filed lawsuits against individuals in Europe and the United States for abusing its platforms to offer automated tools for scraping users’ personal data and gathering likes.

The iconic Nokia brand, owned by the Finnish start-up HMD Global dabbles in nostalgia at least once a year. It was 2017 when the iconic Nokia 3310 roared back to life as a modern classic. Then in 2018, they resurrected the Nokia 8110, also known as the ‘banana phone’. Last year saw the return of the quintessential flip phone factor with the Nokia 2720 Flip.&nbsp;

It’s 2020 now and this year Nokia has chosen to please the audiophiles with the revival of the Nokia 5310. 13 years ago it bore the “XpressMusic” tag. In 2020, it is simply being called the Nokia 5310.&nbsp;

The world of smartphones has changed drastically over the years ever since the introduction of the original iPhone in 2007. Feature phones haven’t had such a drastic makeover but even they have chosen to never settle.&nbsp;

<img alt="Nokia" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="f95f1fc7-0b4b-4549-a8a6-4778c1e3e43b" src="//cdn.wionews.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/nokia.jpg" />

The Nokia 5310 lives on&nbsp;

The Nokia 5310 may win the ‘cutest mobile phone of the year’ award but let me tell you that it isn’t much more than a looker. In a world of Jio Phones from Reliance and other beefier feature phones, Nokia is tapping into nostalgia harder than most.&nbsp;

When I first got my hands on the Nokia 5310, I couldn’t wait to unbox it. With a plethora of Nokia mobile phones still lying around my house, it’s safe to say that prior to 2007 they were a huge hit in my household. From form factor to being packed with extra features, Nokia was way ahead of its time back then. The overall design language of the 2020 Nokia 5310 turned back the time and brought back many memories. From a design standpoint, the Nokia 5310 is faultless. I got the black variant with the red side panels that include the music buttons and I was sold.&nbsp;

Today, society lives on its smartphones more than ever. Whether we’re lying down in bed, commuting to our offices or just lost in a city that isn’t ours, smartphones come in handy in more ways than one. We use them to communicate to our friends and family via texting, calling, video chatting and so much more. These days smartphones come with larger displays, multiple cameras, bigger batteries and enough processing power to get us through a full day of work, rest and relaxation and so much more.&nbsp;

First impressions may only go so far though. Shortly after going through the specifications sheet and turning the phone on I became disappointed. It seems like the brand cannot shake off it’s pre-economic recession traits. The brand has grown in many ways but some of its decisions are baffling in today’s world.&nbsp;

The Nokia 5310 is the antithesis of today’s smartphone.&nbsp;&nbsp;

From HMD Global’s standpoint, releasing feature phones in a market like India makes sense. First, the feature phone market is still a large part of the mobile phone industry in India. Second, tapping into that nostalgia helps consumers make an instant connection. Third, according to a CMR report released last week, mobile audio is more important to the consumer than cameras. Fourth, a lot of people are still buying their first ever mobile phone and don’t want to spend a whole lot of dough.&nbsp;

With all this in mind, let’s bring it back to the choices Nokia has made in 2020. The Nokia 5310 comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 8MB RAM, 16MB internal storage (expandable to 32GB via microSD card), a 1,200mAh battery, a VGA camera, dual-front speakers and the most-loved feature, the FM radio.&nbsp;

The camera could have been slightly better and maybe a sharper display, but beyond that, you can’t really fault HMD. With a device this side and a price point palatable for most of the population, there really was not a lot of wriggle room for HMD. There’s also the removable battery that we all miss and the small form factor we certainly loved.&nbsp;

Where you can fault HMD is in the choice of connectivity. In a world of WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube, the least Nokia could have included is 3G, let alone 4G - the standard offering in 2020. Furthermore, unlike Reliance’s Jio Phone 2, there is no Wi-Fi functionality.&nbsp;

With limited capabilities on the Nokia 5310, one struggles to find a reason to think this feature phone will fly off the shelves (virtual, these days, brought to us by the coronavirus pandemic).&nbsp;&nbsp;

Industry analysts will also wrestle with the mere existence of the Nokia 5310. It’s a refurbished device from 2007. It isn’t particularly new or earth-shattering. The competition will easily take it out with feature phones that have beefier specs and cheaper price points.&nbsp;

What’s the game plan, dear HMD Global?&nbsp;

At Rs 3,399, it’s puzzling as to what HMD Global’s strategy is for the Nokia 5310. Is it being pitched purely on nostalgia? Is it going to win the hearts of audiophiles? Is it tapping into first-time mobile phone users? Is it a 2G feature phone trying to stay afloat in a sea of 3G/4G feature phones? Who knows.&nbsp;

When I think of feature phones these days and the ways companies can expand their reach is by pitching it as a second ‘phone’. A phone that never dies, and even if you drop it a thousand times, it won’t get rattled.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Still, the omissions made by HMD Global don’t sync up with today’s consumer demands. Shopkeepers across the country (whenever they finally open up) will be struggling to find reasons to pitch this to the influx of customers into their stories.&nbsp;

The Nokia 5310 is available in just one variant, at Rs 3,399. For reference, Reliance’s Jio Phone 2 is available at Rs 2,999.&nbsp;

The long and short of it is this; Nokia missed the bus by not upgrading certain specifications to what is today’s standards. Playing purely on nostalgia will help sell a couple of phones, but beyond that, the Nokia 5310 is going to struggle.&nbsp;

Reliance’s Jio Phone will eat it alive.&nbsp;

The iconic Nokia brand, owned by the Finnish start-up HMD Global dabbles in nostalgia at least once a year. It was 2017 when the iconic Nokia 3310 roared back to life as a modern classic. Then in 2018, they resurrected the Nokia 8110, also known as the ‘banana phone’. Last year saw the return of the quintessential flip phone factor with the Nokia 2720 Flip. It’s 2020 now and this year Nokia has chosen to please the audiophiles with the revival of the Nokia 5310. 13 years ago it bore the “XpressMusic” tag. In 2020, it is simply being called the Nokia 5310. The world of smartphones has changed drastically over the years ever since the introduction of the original iPhone in 2007. Feature phones haven’t had such a drastic makeover but even they have chosen to never settle. The Nokia 5310 lives on The Nokia 5310 may win the ‘cutest mobile phone of the year’ award but let me tell you that it isn’t much more than a looker. In a world of Jio Phones from Reliance and other beefier feature phones, Nokia is tapping into nostalgia harder than most. When I first got my hands on the Nokia 5310, I couldn’t wait to unbox it. With a plethora of Nokia mobile phones still lying around my house, it’s safe to say that prior to 2007 they were a huge hit in my household. From form factor to being packed with extra features, Nokia was way ahead of its time back then. The overall design language of the 2020 Nokia 5310 turned back the time and brought back many memories. From a design standpoint, the Nokia 5310 is faultless. Facebook Inc said on Tuesday it would affix labels to political ads shared by users on their own feeds, closing what critics have said for years was a glaring loophole in the company’s election transparency measures.

Facebook on Tuesday removed almost 900 accounts associated with the far-right Proud Boys and American Guard, including those belonging to Proud Boys supporters who marched into a protest zone in Seattle Monday and confronted anti-racist demonstrators. Facebook told Reuters the takedowns of more than 500 Facebook accounts and more than 300 Instagram accounts followed a smaller round of suspensions two weeks ago. "We initially removed a set of accounts for both organizations on May 30 when we saw that both organizations started posting content tied to the ongoing protests," said a Facebook spokeswoman who asked not to be identified. "We were continuing the work to map out the full network." Facebook had previously banned the groups for promoting hate, but individual members continued to post images with weapons and urge others to attend protests that followed the Minneapolis killing of George Floyd in police custody. Facebook is under heightened scrutiny as provocateurs use it to coordinate and recruit. It has also acted to make it harder to find groups in the so-called Boogaloo movement. Boogaloo adherents believe a new civil war is looming and are often heavily armed. Some ally with right-wing militias and have sought to capitalize on the protests by instigating violence they hope will escalate into a broader conflict. On Tuesday, two adherents were charged in connection with the murder of a security guard on duty at a federal building during a protest in Oakland. According to an affidavit supporting the criminal complaint, suspects Steven Carrillo and Robert Alvin Justus Jr. belonged to the same unidentified Facebook group and discussed attacking federal authorities on May 28. "It's a great opportunity to target the specialty soup bois," Carrillo posted, in a reference the FBI said was shorthand for three-letter agencies. The guard was killed the following night. After a later carjacking, the FBI said, Carrillo wrote "Boog" in his own blood on the vehicle.

As work from home has become the new normal, Microsoft Teams has introduced a custom background option for video calls

The feature allows you to replace your background in Team meetings with your own custom images or with the ones provided online&nbsp;by Microsoft. Users&nbsp;also have the option to simply blur the background.

After changing the background, you can preview it before it's applied to your video calls. Microsoft has also rolled out an option to schedule meetings. "This capability builds upon the existing ability to “Meet Now, " the blog said.

Microsoft designers have also created 20 virtual backgrounds to show support for the LGBTQI+ community.

Furthermore, Teams users can now put on live captions during their calls and meetings. The company is working on introducing AI-based real-time noise suppression in Teams meetings later this year.

Videoconferencing has become necessary&nbsp;for work and social life as people around the world hunker down at home to avoid the spread&nbsp;coronavirus.

Microsoft Teams allows users to chat, share files, make calls and hold web video conferences. Microsoft charges fees to businesses for its full versions of Teams, but there is a free version that can be used by consumers.

In April, Microsoft reported that Teams had grown to 75 million daily users, more than double its early March figure. On one day, it logged 4.1 billion meeting minutes.

"As Covid-19 impacts every aspect of our work and life, we''ve seen two years'' worth of digital transformation in two months," Satya Nadella, CEO Microsoft said in April.

Two years ago, Whatsapp began testing their payment feature in India hoping to be the first country to use the technology,&nbsp;&nbsp;but the feature has now made its debut in Brazil.&nbsp;

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced this through a post which said: "Today we're starting to launch payments for people using WhatsApp in Brazil. We're making sending and receiving money as easy as sharing photos," he said. He also claimed that the small businesses will be able to make sales right within WhatsApp.

"To do this, we're building on Facebook Pay, which provides a secure and consistent way to make payments across our apps," he added.

According to the Zuckerberg, WhatsApp is working with local backs in Brazil, like Banco do Brasil, Nubank, Sicredi as well as Cielo, the leading payments processor for merchants in the country.

In the official blog post, the company cleared that payment security is their top priority and will use a special six-digit PIN or fingerprint in order to stop unauthorised transactions.

The post stated, "Payments on WhatsApp are made using Facebook Pay. We want that in future people and business can use the same card on all Facebook apps."

In India, the feature did not take off&nbsp;due to regulatory issues. The feature was tested on just 1 million users despite WhatsApp having 400 million users in India.

The post stated, "Payments on WhatsApp are made using Facebook Pay. We want that in future people and business can use the same card on all Facebook apps." In India, the feature did not take off due to regulatory issues. The feature was tested on just 1 million users despite WhatsApp having 400 million users in India.

Amazon.com Inc on Tuesday launched an artificial intelligence-based tracking system to enforce social distancing at its offices and warehouses to help reduce any risk of contracting the new coronavirus among its workers.

The unveiling comes as the world's largest online retailer faces intensifying scrutiny from U.S. lawmakers and unions over whether it is doing enough to protect staff from the pandemic.

Monitors set up in the company's warehouses will highlight workers keeping a safe distance in green circles, while workers who are closer will be highlighted in red circles, Amazon said.

The system, called Distance Assistant, uses camera footage in Amazon's buildings to also help identify high-traffic areas.

Amazon, which will open source the technology behind the system, is not the first company to turn to AI to track compliance with social distancing.&nbsp;

Several firms have told Reuters that AI camera-based software will be crucial to staying open, as it will allow them to show not only workers and customers, but also insurers and regulators, that they are monitoring and enforcing safe practices.

The system is live at a handful of buildings, Amazon said on Tuesday, adding that it planned to deploy hundreds of such units over the next few weeks.

Major US companies will remain engaged in developing a global 5G mobile standard, as Washington seeks to keep them in the same room as Huawei Technologies, which is already&nbsp;ahead in drawing up the specifications.

The US Commerce Department and other agencies signed off on a rule change on Monday that ensures Huawei’s inclusion in a US trade blacklist will not prevent American companies from international 5G standards-development activities.

“This is not a friendly gesture by the US, but simply a reflection on its part that it is too late and too expensive for any country to develop its own 5G standard,” Jefferies equity analyst Edison Lee said on Tuesday.

Large US firms, including Intel Corp and Qualcomm, have already contributed plenty to 5G standards under the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), an international collaboration of seven telecoms standard development organisations that draw up complete mobile system specifications.

The stakes are high for US companies to remain in these standards discussions because 3GPP is now at work on introducing Release 16 of the next-generation mobile technology’s global standard. This involves support for new applications such as autonomous driving, smart factories and remote surgeries in the health care sector – among a range of innovations that are expected to help fuel economic growth for countries over the next decade.

“The US has more to lose if their companies are cut off from further participation in that process,” Jefferies’ Lee said. “Huawei has leading patent shares in 5G, which could rise further if US companies stop contributing.”

China’s road to 5G has been filled with difficulties. In 2012, two years before China Mobile launched 4G services on the mainland, various Chinese entities joined an international initiative to research and develop 5G.

The world’s second largest economy is now estimated to account for 35 per cent of 5G standard-essential patent declarations, about 15 per cent of which come from Shenzhen-based Huawei, according to Lee, citing data from German research firm IPlytics. By comparison, US companies’ share is estimated at roughly 13 per cent, he said.

Apple on Tuesday found itself the target of two EU antitrust investigations into its App Store and Apple Pay as regulators said its terms and conditions and restrictions may violate the bloc's competition rules.

The European Commission said one probe will look into the mandatory use of Apple's proprietary in-app purchase system and restrictions on developers' ability to inform iPhone and iPad users of other cheaper purchasing possibilities outside of apps.

Photo-sharing app Instagram is set to overtake Twitter as a news source, research suggests.

The 2020 Reuters Institute Digital News report found the use of Instagram for news had doubled since 2018.

The trend is strongest among young people. Nearly a quarter of 18 to 24-year-olds used Instagram as a source of news about coronavirus as per the research. But social media platforms were also among the least-trusted sources.

Just 26 per cent&nbsp;of people said they trusted social media as a source of information about the virus. A similar percentage said they trusted news that had been shared via chat apps such as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

National governments and news organisations, by contrast, were both trusted by about 59 per cent&nbsp;of respondents.

Instagram is now used by more than a third of all people who answered the survey, and two-thirds of under-25s. And 11&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;use it for news, putting it just one point behind Twitter.

"Instagram's become very popular with younger people", said Nic Newman, lead author of the report. "They really respond well to stories that are told simply and well with visual images".

Stand-out visual stories in recent months have helped, climate change, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the coronavirus have all seen massive engagement on the platform.

"It's not that one necessarily replaces the other," Newman said. "They might use Facebook and Instagram, or might use Twitter and Instagram."

Instagram is owned by Facebook, which now reaches 85 per cent&nbsp;of people each week. The company's dominance in how stories are being told "remains incredibly important", he added. The firm also owns WhatsApp.

The coronavirus pandemic also seems to have offered a temporary reprieve to a downward trend in how much news organisations are trusted.

Only 38&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;of people said they trusted the news most of the time. Less than half - 46 per cent&nbsp;- said they trusted their favoured news source.

In total, 40 countries were surveyed. Only in six of them did a majority say they could trust "most of the news most of the time".

The case was particularly poor in the UK, where only 28&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;of respondents backed the statement. That figure was 12 percentage points lower than the nation's response in the 2019 report.

That plummet in confidence was only matched by Chile and Hong Kong, which have both seen violent street protests - and still rank more highly than the UK, on 30&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;each.

But things changed substantially once the coronavirus crisis hit.

A slightly differently worded question in April - about the level of trust in information about the coronavirus - saw news organisations surge to a 59&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;trust rating, on a par with national governments.

The report's authors speculate the identical levels of trust as a result of news organisations amplifying public health advice.

But that sudden high has already started to fall.

"What we're seeing is relatively high levels of trust - at the time of the lockdowns - in the media and national governments. But we have some polling since then, which shows that trust in the media fell 11 percentage points between April and May," Newman said.

While not officially part of the report, that recent polling suggests that the "moment of national unity" may have passed.

Amid all this analysis of trust issues, most people - what the report calls the "silent majority" - prefer what they consider "objective" news.

The authors of the report had not asked this question since 2013, since when the use of opinion and open stances on news reporting has grown.

In nine countries where this was explored, all said they preferred news from sources with "no point of view".

The strongest preference was in Germany, Japan, the UK and Denmark. These are "all countries with strong and independent public broadcasters", the report noted.

In contrast, the US - "where both politics and the media have become increasingly partisan over the years" - many more people said they prefer news which shares their point of view.

Instagram will overtake Twitter as source of news: Study

Today, Oppo is one of the biggest Android smartphone manufacturers in the world. Back in the day though, Oppo used to be a well-regarded player in the audio market.

It was back in March when Oppo forayed into the True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earphone market with the Oppo Enco Free. I found them a worthy competitor in the market.

The latest product from Oppo is the Enco M31 earphones at an inexpensive price of just Rs 1,999. Now, these aren’t TWS earphones but they have a neckband design.

Let’s dive in to find out if these are worth your money or not.

<h2>Design: Neckband style</h2>

I know many people love their Bullets Wireless from OnePlus for many years but I was never a fan of their neckband design. I don’t want anything that is remotely heavy sitting on my neck all day long. I’d rather throw a pair of earphones into my pocket.

Still. Saying that the Enco M31’s are one of the lightest neckband earphones I’ve ever tested. During my two-week testing period, there were more than a few times where I forgot they were even resting on my neck. That’s a testament to how lightweight - coming in at just 22 grams - they are.

The Enco M31’s are not only good for listening to while on your daily walk but they’ll also not flap around when you’re running.

<img alt="Oppo Enco M31 Review: A pocket friendly, sweet sounding pair of neckband earphones" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="faf631a4-c005-4e0d-a4fb-7676dbf08089" src="//cdn.wionews.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/0ac4a4ba-45e5-45ea-a706-7acbe65b40ac%20%281%29.jpg" />

The all-black design is somewhat boring and it isn’t anything out of the ordinary. Saying that Oppo has tried to make the pair elegant with the glossy metal trims for the button.

Oppo is offering these earphones in either black or green. Personally, I’d go with the latter, even though I’ve only seen them in images. I’ve been testing the black version.

Last but not the least, I’d just like to mention a bit about the build quality. The price may make these earbuds seem cheap but they are far from it. The build is sturdy and the neckband itself feels very solid. It doesn’t seem flimsy at all. The wires themselves are quite thick and overall these will last you a long time.

The earphones are IPX5 rating which means that they are sweat-resistant and you can work out with them without hesitation.

The Enco M31’s come with a volume rocker and a multi-function button. The buttons are quite simple to learn.

You long-press on the volume rocker for skipping or going to the previous track. A double-tap on the multi-function button enables the bass mode. A single tap on the multi-function button pauses/plays the music. Finally, snapping the earphones together via the magnets will turn off the earphones completely.

<h2>Sound quality and connectivity: Pretty good!</h2>

The Enco M31’s earphones connect over Bluetooth 5.0 and pairing was super quick. I rarely had any problems connecting to them. Even during my runs, the connection between the Enco M31’s and my smartphone rarely shuttered, and even if it did, it was hardly for a second.

The Enco M31’s come with support for LDAC coding. Something competing earphones don’t offer. That in itself makes these a better buy for audiophiles. The similarly priced OnePlus Wireless Z’s lack any LDAC coding and also have a less refined soundstage.

The best part about the Enco M31’s is the instrument and vocal separation. No matter what song you listen to - from Florence + The Machine’s Dog Days Are Over to Down The Road by C2C - the song is crystal clear. Even during Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars, I could separate Mars’ voice from the crowded background noises.

It’s not to say the M31’s are perfect. In some songs, you’ll get a hollow sound coming from the instruments. It’ll feel like the song is escaping you rather than feeding into you. That rarely happened but it is noticeable whenever it does happen.

There is a ‘bass mode’ on the Enco M31’s but I didn’t really care much for it, to be honest. It doesn’t do enough justice as the song itself - no matter what you’re listening to - sounds a little off at all times.

One of the downsides is the call quality. I found it lacking vs competing headphones. Indoors it was perfectly fine but when I was outdoors there was a lot of disturbance at times and my voice couldn’t be heard for a large part of the call. I had to constantly repeat myself.

Funnily enough, most of my calls outdoors resolved themselves within the first ten minutes. They seemed to get better as the call went on. Still, if you need them purely for call quality, then it’s best to skip them.

<h2>Battery life: Less than stellar</h2>

Another area where the Enco M31’s disappoint. With an average volume of 50-60 per cent and LDAC enabled, the Enco M31’s struggled to pass the five-hour mark, routinely shutting down shortly after hitting four hours.

With TWS earphones, you’re given a charging case but with neckband earphones, you have to reach for a USB port somewhere.

<h2>Verdict: A must-have product</h2>

At Rs 1,999. The Enco M31’s are a must-buy. If you already have a primary pair that you aren’t willing to part with, then these are a must-have second pair.

The pros outweigh the cons and purely on from an audiophile perspective, these will never disappoint you.

The Enco M31 is much better than many wired earphones that have been praised for many years. The Enco M31’s are also much better than the competition, namely the OnePlus Bullets Z and the Realme Buds Wireless.

Today, Oppo is one of the biggest Android smartphone manufacturers in the world. Back in the day though, Oppo used to be a well-regarded player in the audio market.

Amazon may face EU antitrust charges in the coming weeks over its use of data from merchants with whom it competes on its platform, a person familiar with the matter said on Thursday, putting it at risk of a hefty fine.

The European Commission has been investigating the US online retailer's dual role as a marketplace for merchants and as a rival since July last year, triggered by complaints from traders about Amazon's practices.

The probe also focuses on how Amazon uses competitively sensitive merchant data to select winners for its "buy box", which allows customers to add items from a specific retailer directly into their shopping carts.

The EU competition enforcer may soon send a charge sheet called a statement of objections to the company, outlining suspected violations of antitrust laws, the person said.

Both the Commission and Amazon declined to comment.

The company will be required to respond to the charge sheet in writing and can also ask for a closed-door hearing to defend itself. If the competition enforcer finds it has breached EU laws, the company could could face a fine up to 10% of its global turnover.

Amazon has faced EU Commission scrutiny in the past. Three years ago, it was told to pay back taxes of about 250 million euros to Luxembourg because of illegal tax benefits, just four months after settling with the EU over its distribution deals with e-book publishers in Europe.

Video conferencing app Zoom&nbsp;closed the account of exiled dissidents in the US&nbsp;after they held a Zoom event commemorating the&nbsp;31st anniversary of the June 4 Tiananmen&nbsp;Square Massacre.

The event on May 31 saw participants dial in from China to listen to the testimonies of a number of people tied to the events of June 4, including the mother of a slain protester, a Beijing resident imprisoned for 17 years for his participation, and multiple exiled student leaders.

On June 7, organisers discovered that the paid Zoom account that they set up for the forum had been disabled, said Zhou Fengsuo, a US-based human rights activist and president of Humanitarian China, the group that hosted the event.

The activists voiced outrage, saying the company may have been under direct pressure from China’s communist leaders.

China's Xiaomi Corp and Oppo are importing some smartphone models into India as their local plants struggle to get back to production levels needed to meet demand that built up during lockdown, sources familiar with matter said.
The move is a costly one as the world`s second-largest smartphone market imposes steep tariffs on imports of devices and components - part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s push to boost manufacturing in India. Most foreign brands in India make nearly all of their smartphones locally.

It also underscores the challenges India faces in kick-starting production as new coronavirus cases soar to nearly 300,000 while more than 8,000 people have died.

Manufacturing facilities in India have been allowed since May to resume operations but several smartphone plants are still grappling with labour shortages, three sources told Reuters.

At the same time, demand is high because phones - not deemed essential goods by the government - were not allowed to be sold during the nationwide lockdown of nearly two months.

The bulk of the Xiaomi smartphones sold in India are made by contract manufacturer Foxconn in the southern states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, while Oppo assembles its India-made phones at a plant on the outskirts of New Delhi.

It was not immediately clear how many phones the Chinese brands are now importing, the sources added, declining to be identified as they were not authorised to discuss the matter with media.

"This is purely to take care of the demand that is there and the fact that they (Xiaomi) are not able to produce to meet demand," one of the sources said, adding the imports were a short-term measure until production and distribution gets back to normal.

Xiaomi did not respond to a request for comment and Foxconn declined to comment.

Oppo`s plant, which also makes phones for the OnePlus and Realme brands owned by common parent BBK Electronics, reopened with reduced staffing on May 7. But it had to close again for more than a week after several workers tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a few instances, staff at Oppo and other smartphone plants have either resigned or not shown up for work for fear of contracting the virus on assembly lines where people work closely, sources said.

"My father said if you live, you`ll find another job," one worker who recently resigned from the Oppo factory told Reuters, asking not to be named.

Oppo India declined to comment.

The production woes have meant delays to sales plans.

OnePlus, which competes with Apple Inc in India`s $400-plus smartphone segment, has had to stagger sales of its latest model on Amazon`s India website.

Realme said in an emailed statement it has been challenging to meet market demand due to supply chain disruptions and "limited production capabilities".

It added it would not risk the health of factory workers by ramping up production quickly and that it expected to be at normal manufacturing capacity by the end of July.

Fleets will be available for everyone in India on Twitter for iOS and Android in the coming days in updated app versions, the company said in a statement. "We are excited to bring the Fleets experiment to India and make it one of the first three countries in the world to experience this new product. From the test in India, we`ll learn how adding a new mode of conversation changes the way Indians engage on Twitter," said Manish Maheshwari, MD, Twitter India. Like tweets, Fleets are based primarily on text, but people can include videos, GIFs or photos in them. To create a new Fleet, tap your avatar on the top left of your profile to create a new Fleet, start typing or tap a media icon to add photo/s or video/s and and tap `Fleet` to post. People can see who`s seen their Fleet by looking underneath a post. They can tap on someone`s avatar to see what the person has shared since they last were on Twitter. Alternatively, one can also find an account`s Fleets by looking on their profile page. "It`ll be interesting to see if it further amplifies the diversity of usage by allowing people to share what they`re thinking in a way that is light-touch and light-hearted," said Maheshwari. To view someone`s Fleet, one can tap an avatar to see their latest Fleets. To engage with your followers on Fleets, buttons to reply and react are available when Direct Messages (DMs) are open. "Followers can reply privately via DM or quickly react with an emoji, and continue the conversation privately in DMs. Replies and reactions will appear in DMs along with the Fleet they are responding to," said Twitter. "We want people to be able to have conversations on Twitter in different ways, with less pressure and more control. That`s why we`re testing a way to share their fleeting thoughts," said Mo Al Adham, Twitter Group Product Manager. (With inputs from agencies)

Twitter starts testing disappearing tweets feature 'Fleets' in India

A South Korean court on Tuesday denied an arrest warrant request for Samsung Group heir Jay Y. Lee after prosecutors accused him of accounting fraud and stock manipulation.

The ruling provided temporary relief for the vice chairman of Samsung Electronics. But he may face further pressure from the case at a time when the world's top maker of smartphones and memory chips contends with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on demand.

Prosecutors on Thursday asked the court to issue an arrest warrant against Lee, culminating a probe into accounting fraud and a controversial 2015 merger of two Samsung affiliates that they said helped facilitate Lee's plan to assume greater control of the group.

After the hearing, he is expected to head to a detention centre to await the judge's decision, expected on Monday or early Tuesday.

Misconduct Allegations

Samsung on Friday denied the allegation of stock-manipulation against Lee, saying it was "beyond common sense" to claim Lee was involved in the decision-making.

In a further statement over the weekend, the group said the lengthy probe is weighing on management, which is in a “crisis” at a time when the coronavirus pandemic and US-China trade disputes are adding to the uncertainty.

The company declined to make Lee available for comment.

This won’t be an unfamiliar process for Lee, nor will it be the end of his legal troubles if the prosecutors’ request is denied.&nbsp;

He served in jail for about one year until February 2018 for his role in a bribery scandal in which he was accused of giving horses as gifts to win support from the government of former President Park Geun-Hye for the merger.

The merger increased his control of the group, and of its crown jewel, Samsung Electronics Co, South Korea's biggest company. His father, Lee Kun-hee, has been ailing for some time.

"If he is arrested, this will further hurt the reputation of Lee and Samsung. There will more questions about his legitimacy as the CEO and successor of the company," Chang Sea-jin, a business professor at Korea Advanced Institute of Science &amp; Technology.

"The public would think, 'Oh he may have done something wrong again."
