The man, as per reports, claimed that the curry was actually made using chicken, but that he used titled 'How to cook peacock curry in the traditional way' to get more views and likes.

Officials also found chicken feathers during the raid at his house.

Peacock is the national bird of India and is listed under Schedule-I of the Wildlife Protection Amendment Act, 2022, which means it is a protected species. Thus, a case has been registered against Kondam Pranay Kumar, and the forest department has started an investigation.&nbsp;

In a statement to the press, Forest Range Officer (FRO), R. Kalpana Devi said that Pranay was immediately taken into custody after receiving the information.

The FRO said they inspected the place where the curry was cooked and seized the dish.&nbsp;

She said that even naming the national bird for likes or otherwise in such a manner was an offence.&nbsp;

"Naming a peacock is also an offence. We will send the curry to the lab for testing and after the report, we will take action."

She added that any act that directly or indirectly promotes killing wildlife is subject to penal action. The case has now been referred to the police for further action, and the further action would depend on the forensic test of the curry.

Kannada actor Darshan and his wife Vijaya Lakshmi have been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act for keeping four rare bar-headed geese at their farm in Mysuru.&nbsp;The Karnataka forest authorities&nbsp;have also booked the farmhouse's manager&nbsp;Nagaraj.

After the actor revealed in an interview that he has these rare migratory birds at his farmhouse, the forest department sleuths, on Friday, conducted raids and&nbsp;seized the rare birds, which were later released near the Hadinaru lake in Bengaluru, which is considered a magnet for migratory birds.

Deputy Conservator of Forests B. Bhaskar also stated that his sleuths found a black swan, ostrich, emu and a few other rare species of birds at Darshan's&nbsp;farmhouse.

Ironically, the actor is an ambassador for wildlife conservation and was also nominated for&nbsp;Karnataka State Board for Wildlife last year.

According to a report by Deccan Herald, the actor could face up to three years in prison, if found guilty under Sections 9, 39 and 51 of the Wild Life Protection Act 1972 and Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Act 2022.

Kannada actor Darshan booked for possession of rare migratory birds at his farmhouse

In a coordinated mission that involved air and sea-based assets, the Indian Coast Guard apprehended a fishing boat that was attempting to smuggle sea cucumber, an endangered species, into Sri Lanka.

The apprehended fishing boat was carrying 1 ton of sea cucumbers, which are valued at about $683,000&nbsp;USD. The fishing boat along with three crew members have been brought to Tuticorin for further investigation.&nbsp;

The interception of the boat had taken place on Saturday noon and the boat was just about 3.5 miles from the International Maritime Boundary line. The boat was intercepted off the Mandapam coast. The north western tip of the Sri Lanka is easily accessible(in terms of distance) from the areas surrounding Mandapam town in Tamil Nadu. Some parts on the north-western tip of Sri Lanka are less than 100kms or 54 nautical miles away, from certain points on the Tamil Nadu coast.

Illegal harvesting and overexploitation of these animals leads to poorer sediment health, reduces nutrient recycling and impacts biodiversity.

Salman's counsel, however, had said that the prosecution had engaged in tampering and fabricating evidence as well as roping in fake witnesses to prove its case.

Before Independence, blackbucks were extensively hunted in the princely states of India due to which their population has been declining continuously.
