Despite not directly supplying weapons to Ukraine, so as not to antagonise Moscow, S Korea is doing its part of the bidding by arming allies. It has supplied weapons worth $12.4 billion to Poland which has been against Russia from the beginning. Romania, another NATO nation is also in the middle of a negotiation to buy S Korean K9s. "The defence industry is a new future growth engine and the pivot of the high-tech industry. With the intensifying competition for technological supremacy, we need to secure technological competitiveness to develop game-changing weapon systems for future wars," he said in a meeting held at Korea Aerospace Industries last year. S Korea has started 2023 on a positive note as well. In one of the most lucrative deals ever, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) sealed a $920 million (1.2 trillion won) deal to export 18 FA-50 light-attack aircraft to Malaysia. One such company is Lockheed Martin, an American defence and aerospace company that has positioned itself as a major player in the war profiteering game.

Recently, the company announced a record-breaking production of its Himars MLRS, a multiple rocket launcher system that many nations are now lining up to use.

Himars has proven to be highly effective, allowing the Ukrainian armed forces to gain decisive victories over the Russian army, most notably in the counteroffensive launched in September and October 2022 that led to the recapturing of Kherson.

Given the system's success, the US military has provided $2 million in aid, including ammunition for Himars, which has been combat tested and proven highly reliable.

In fact, in December, the army awarded Lockheed Martin the contract for full-rate production of the high mobility artillery rocket system M142 launchers, to support both the US Army and its overseas military sales partners.&nbsp;

Several nations, including Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and even the Netherlands, have lined up for purchase.

Meanwhile, on the other front, the company is hopeful that Australia's defence review will lead to an increase in orders for its F-35 fighter jets.&nbsp;

China still has the largest conventionally built military since World War II, according to Australia’s defence minister.&nbsp;

The decision to give new defence equipment to Australia is largely due to the country's strong relationship with the U.S., which wants to counter China's growing influence in Taiwan and the South China Sea.

As the diplomatic tensions between these countries keep getting worse, the profits of war companies like Lockheed Martin speak for themselves.&nbsp;

The company's revenue base stands at $66 billion, with strong stock returns of about 24 per cent in the last 12 months.&nbsp;

The sales of Lockheed Martin have risen at a decent growth rate of 3.4 per cent to the current valuation.&nbsp;

People say that the high production of its Sikorsky helicopter programs, AC-3, and long-range anti-ship missiles, among other things, is to blame for this growth.

As the war in Ukraine continues to last for more than a year, the business will likely continue to increase as countries increase their defence spending.&nbsp;

Two states contributed to six of the top 10 airports with firearm incidents last year. Three airports in Texas —Dallas, Houston, and Austin reported 833 cases in 2022.

Another 427 cases were reported by three airports in Florida —Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Tampa.

The guns are confiscated based on different local and state laws. But TSA fines them as much as $14,950. Passengers if found violating the laws can lose their PreCheck status.

Even though passengers are allowed to carry unloaded firearms inside checked luggage, they are required to tell the airline they intend to travel with weapons at check-in.

However, guns are not allowed in carry-on bags or passenger cabins, even if a passenger has a concealed weapon permit.

Experts point out that the trend of carrying loaded guns reflects the deep-rooted problems the country is facing.

He emphasised the importance of providing enough ammunition to Ukraine for the systems already in place and added that there was an "enormous" need for spare parts and ammunition.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, last week while speaking to a group of Western leaders, appealed to leaders to provide a wide range of air defence systems and weapons to help the country fight the ongoing invasion by Russia.

Stoltenberg said that providing Ukraine with military support is the fastest way towards establishing peace.

"We know that most wars end at the negotiating table - probably this war too - but we know that what Ukraine can achieve in these negotiations depends inextricably on the military situation," he added.

Ukraine was invaded by Russia on February 24 in what Putin stated was a "special military operation" against what seems to him as a threat to the security of Russians.

NATO's Stoltenberg appeals members to supply more weapons to Ukraine

The demand for weapons has grown world over following the Ukraine-Russia war and this is something that will reflect in the defence budgets, Maj Gen (retd) Yoav Har-Even, CEO of Israeli firm Rafael Advanced Defence Systems told WION. Rafael has been offering various weapons and weapon systems to the Indian Armed Forces for more than 25 years and the firm now hopes to export the missiles that they make in India. The Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missile, the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile(MRSAM) and Spice guidance kits for air dropped bombs are a few Rafael systems used by India.&nbsp;

Speaking to WION on the sidelines of the roll out of the 100th&nbsp;MRSAM from the Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems(KRAS) Indo-Israeli facility in Hyderabad, Har-Even said that Rafael has been working in India for more than 25 years. "Five years ago, we got the vision from the Indian Prime Minister for Make-in-India and we joined with the Kalyani group to establish KRAS and make the private sector a relevant player in the defence industry" he said.

On the plans to export made-in-India missiles and technology to foreign customers, he said that it would be possible once large quantity of production is achieved and the hardware is first inducted in adequate numbers into the Indian Armed forces. He indicated that there is a lot of potential to export made-in-India missiles and hardware, which is jointly developed with Rafael. The Israeli-firm is looking to export such hardware to their customers around the world.&nbsp;

Queried about the future projects of Rafael, he said that the company had a heritage of developing the 'Trophy' active protection system for battle tanks, 'Spike' family of anti-tank guided missile, Iron Dome Missile system and 'Litening' electro-optic targeting pod. "We are now developing and producing the next-gen of all the missiles, electro-optic and communications systems, these are all relevant to the Indian market. Once the customer decides that they want certain capabilities, we are ready to not only sell, but to produce and do some of the development in India. This is our vision and we are going to do it" he said.&nbsp;

Rafael has been offering various weapons and weapon systems to the Indian Armed Forces for more than 25 years and the firm now hopes to export the missiles that they make in India. The Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missile, the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile(MRSAM) and Spice guidance kits for air dropped bombs are a few Rafael systems used by India. Speaking to WION on the sidelines of the roll out of the 100th MRSAM from the Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems(KRAS) Indo-Israeli facility in Hyderabad, Har-Even said that Rafael has been working in India for more than 25 years. "Five years ago, we got the vision from the Indian Prime Minister for Make-in-India and we joined with the Kalyani group to establish KRAS and make the private sector a relevant player in the defence industry" he said. On the plans to export made-in-India missiles and technology to foreign customers, he said that it would be possible once large quantity of production is achieved and the hardware is first inducted in adequate numbers into the Indian Armed forces. He indicated that there is a lot of potential to export made-in-India missiles and hardware, which is jointly developed with Rafael. Israel has walked a tightrope ever since Russia invaded Ukraine. Israel has sought to preserve relations with the West as well as with Russia.

Israel needs Russian cooperation to continue its campaign of air strikes in neighbouring Syria, where Russian forces are present and where Israel frequently hits what it calls Iranian-linked targets.

But weapons supplies were off the table, "due to a variety of operational considerations," the defence minister added.&nbsp;

"Initially, he tried to hide these thinking that he got some precious objects," PTI&nbsp;quoted the official from the Archaeological Survey of India.

The official also added that&nbsp;police and the local administration recovered the objects from him later.

Patel told PTI, "We stayed for about eight days in the village and carried out a scientific investigation of the field from where the objects were found. It was found that the weapons and other objects found are 3800-4000 years old and belong to the chalcolithic or copper age. The weapons are of made pure copper."

The weapons included some swords measuring close to one metre long and harpoons of multiple&nbsp;types. Among the ones found, one&nbsp;of the harpoons has four edges.

Experts claim that according to the size of the objects, the weapons were seemingly used by&nbsp;warriors or the army.

The president also announced an additional $225 million in humanitarian assistance to help people in Ukraine, including by supplying safe drinking water, critical medical supplies and healthcare, food, shelter, and cash for families to purchase essential items.

The aid packages, which come as U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin is meeting with allies in Brussels, could be split into two categories: transfer of excess defence articles from U.S. stocks and other weapons being funded by the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), a separate congressionally authorised program.

Three sources familiar with the details, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that one package of about $350 billion was expected to include more rockets for Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) that had been sent to Ukraine and artillery rounds for M777 howitzers and spare parts.&nbsp;
