<meta charset="utf-8" />The penultimate episode of Marvel’s much-acclaimed WandaVision is out and it takes us back to the origin of Wanda Maximoff's powers.

{Spoilers ahead}

After Agatha Harkness, the powerful witch makes her first appearance in Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was about time that the viewers got to know the roots and depth of magic imbibed in the Universe since the introduction of Wanda. The new episode gives an insight into what went behind Wanda’s experiment with mind stone and how she has been able to bend the reality, so much so, that a dead Vision was brought back to life.

While the movie fans always saw Wanda and Pietro as the mutants, the series delves deeper and brings forth the idea of her possessing some power long before that. Her connection with Loki's 'Avenger’ sceptre&nbsp;only unleashed her potential, making her the Scarlet Witch.

Who is Scarlet Witch

Noted in comics as one of the most powerful sorceresses on the planet, Scarlet Witch possesses magic and abilities way beyond the comprehension of man and science. With the roots in magic and training in a scientific facility, Wanda herself was oblivious to her magic, till the time Vision died. Her grief unleashed her potential resulting in a reality stemming from ancient magic aided by the abilities of&nbsp;infinity stone.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/wandavision-latest-episode-opens-the-gate-of-marvel-cinematic-universe-to-x-men-and-next-supervillain-364810" hreflang="en">'WandaVision' latest episode opens the gate of MCU to X-Men &amp; next supervillain</a>

Now we know how she was able to hold off Thanos in Infinity War and why she was chosen by the stone.

Her grief resulted in ‘chaos’ magic, as stated by Agatha and it’s clear that the path for Wanda has just started in a more intense direction.

Wanda’s future

It is known that Elizabeth Olsen will be playing a crucial role in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and with her being revealed as a sorceress her role in Doctor Strange's Universe fits perfectly. It’ll be interesting to see how this Avenger is introduced to Strange who has been trained in the ways of sorcerers and is defending the gates and the worlds.

While the Marvel film is still a bit far, the series is setting itself up for a face-off between a distraught Wanda and a S.W.O.R.D facility-resurrected Vision.

The buildup of the sit-com-inspired series reached its peak in the latest episode and proved again that Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch is the key player in this phase of Marvel. Another thing to note is that otherwise high on HYDRA and the cold-war phase of Marvel is a bit behind, as the new phase will have bigger challenges to face in terms of a multiverse and ancient magic.

Agatha, while looking like a foe&nbsp;at this moment, might hold Wanda’s hand (maybe for her own selfish reasons?) and train her in ways, Marvel Comic fans are familiar with.

Overall, WandaVision has taken a spin into an intense world and the ride just gets more interesting from her.

'WandaVision' Episode 8: MCU gets intense as magic takes front seat

The first Marvel series on Disney+ gave the streaming service another entry in Nielsen’s weekly rankings.

According to The Hollywood reporter, 'WandaVision's debut finished sixth among original shows on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and Disney+ for the week of January&nbsp;11-17 in terms of total viewing time. It also gave Disney+ two entries in the top 10 originals, where it joined 'The Mandalorian', for the first time.

Viewers watched 434 million minutes’ worth of WandaVision’s first two episodes, which ran for 30 and 37 minutes. That equates to about 6.48 million complete plays of the two episodes.

Bridgerton reclaimed the No. 1 spot in minutes viewed, while the prior week’s top show, Cobra Kai, slipped one spot to second. Night Stalker had the biggest debut of the week in total minutes.

Netflix’s Outside the Wire premiered at No. 1 among movies, displacing Soul on Disney+. Amazon’s awards contender One Night in Miami ranked fifth among movies, and Hulu made its first appearance in any of the top 10 lists, gathering 106 million minutes of viewing time for the 2010 movie Killers.

Streaming platforms contend Nielsen’s methodology doesn’t capture the full scope of viewing on devices other than TV sets. Nielsen also only measures U.S. audiences, not those in other countries, and currently only includes Amazon, Disney+, Hulu and Netflix in its rankings.

WandaVision makes it to Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 in its debut week

The last episode of 'WandaVision' ended with a big twist with one of Marvel's character returning to life from Wanda's world&nbsp;

*Spoilers ahead*

'WandaVision'&nbsp;episode 5 ended with Wanda (Elizabeth Olson) opening her door and seeing Pietro Maximoff (Evan Peters), aka Quicksilver, her brother who died during the events of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron.'&nbsp;

But while the 'Age of Ultron'&nbsp;version of Quicksilver was portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the new version is played by Peters (reprising his role from 2014’s 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'). The reveal was a major plot twist and possibly introduced the multiverse concept to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though 'WandaVision' has yet to confirm how and why Quicksilver is back.

The series’ head writer Jac Schaeffer is keenly aware of how equally confusing and impactful the character’s reappearance is for longtime franchise fans. Schaeffer discussed “recasting” Quicksilver in an interview with Marvel.com.

“We loved the idea of [bringing him back],” Schaeffer said in an interview with Marvel.com. “And then we were like, ‘How in the world are we going to make this make logical sense? Like, how do we justify this?’ Because that’s the thing: You can hatch a million great ideas, but to make them land, to make them be grounded, to make them feel organic to the larger story [is more difficult].”

Schaeffer admitted that the casting is a big thrill for the franchise fans, especially those who love Marvel and the X-Men Universe.

“This show is such a mind scramble and because it’s working on so many levels, and there are so many notions of what’s real and what’s not — and performance, and casting, and audience, and fandom, and all of that — we just thought it would be the biggest thrill to bring Evan over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Schaeffer said. “We thought like, ‘How do we give him this entrance, and then enjoy that, and then make it crazy?’ And we had long had the idea of the trope of the brother, or the relative, or whoever comes to town and like, stirs things up with the family — that sitcom trope.”

'WandaVision' writer opens up about the return of 'that' character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

The fourth phase of Marvel has officially begun. The first two episodes of Marvel’s much-anticipated series ‘WandaVision’ are out and they keep you looking out for more. The first episode of the series introduces Wanda and Vision as the young couple who has recently shifted to the sub-urban neighborhood of Westview and are living their life as if in a perfect 50s sitcom. Filmed in black and white, the first two episodes just set the world Wanda and Vision are living in, full of goofy comical situations and exaggerated reactions.&nbsp;

However, that’s just an illusion the makers intended to give. With the second episode, it becomes clear that it’s a world being made up by someone, somewhere. It’s key to note that no timeline is mentioned anywhere and there’s a particular reason that colors are amiss in the setting. Certain glitches are apparent by the end of the second episode and that’s when you know the ride has just begun.

Now, Marvel is known for switching things up in a weird fashion and WandaVision is no exception. Had it been just a sit-com setting with two of the most powerful Avengers going about their day (which it certainly is not), still it would’ve garnered its audience. Paul Bettany is a delight, being his breezy self for the first time (we all know how wound up and particular Vision has been in all the films) and Elizabeth Olsen sheds her angry and brooding Scarlet Witch avatar for a silly and goofy Wanda. However, there’s still a tinge of terror and confusion in her voice, giving off the whole facade as a set up for something big.&nbsp;

What’s even more delightful than the show mimicking the likes of ‘Bewitched’ is the presences of supporting casts like Vision’s cranky boss Fred Melamed and wife Debra Jo Rupp, a chirpy yet curious neighbor Kathryn Hahn, and a skeptical mom who is sensing something odd with the couple, Emma Caulfield. There’s much confusion about the presence of Teyonah Parris who was to appear as Geraldine in Captain Marvel, but instead, is a newcomer to Westview like Wanda and Vision? So is this a coincidence or a tie-up to the larger MCU’s mission? Well, with over a decade of consuming Marvel films, one can say there’s nothing like ‘just a coincidence’ in this universe.&nbsp;
Once again, with ‘WandaVision’, makers have kept the fans sitting on the edge, looking, asking, and reading into more. What is this setup? Why is Vision alive? Who was the mystery man in the second episode? Why are the neighbours peculiar? And most importantly, is there a specific reason to mention Star Industries and Hydra? There are a lot of easter eggs and plotlines hidden between the episodes and they are enough to keep fans occupied till the next episode drops, hopeful with some answers.&nbsp;

Overall, the start of ‘WandaVision’ looks like a delightful start to something bigger (hopefully).
