<p>Detailing the incident, the boy said the teacher wanted to punish him for not doing his homework. So he was brought to the front of the class where the teacher slapped the right side of his face three times and the left once.</p>

<p>His face started to lose colour three months later. What exactly causes vitiligo is not clear, but experts say that environmental stress factors can contribute to its beginning.</p>

<p>A police investigation was initiated into the matter and the school says they are waiting for its results, as well as a forensic injury assessment to determine what action should be taken against the teacher. Chinese media outlet Benliu News quoted a staff member as saying that the boy had been diagnosed with vitiligo.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the mother is waiting for either the school or the teacher to reimburse the medical expenses incurred to treat her son. She says she has not been able to get in touch with either the teacher or the school regarding the same.</p>
