<p>Prime Minister Modi on Sunday condoled the death of Ajay Devgn's father, Veeru Devgan who served as Bollywood's renowned stunt director. He called his death a "great loss to the industry" in an official letter.</p>

<p>Ajay Devgn shared the letter to his mother Veena Devgan on Twitter.</p>

<p>The letter started with, "I am deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Shri Veeru Devgan who was widely respected for his outstanding work across various domains in the Hindi film industry. This is a great loss for the industry.”</p>

<p>It went on to praise Veeru for his work as a stuntman, action choreographer, director, producer and more. Modi wrote, "This is the sign of a man who completely dedicated himself to his chosen field and hence, kept discovering new ways of contributing to it."</p>

<p>He went on to praise <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/safety-was-veeru-devgans-top-priority-recall-bollwyood-celebrities-222192">Devgan's work as a stuntman</a> "in an era of no visual effects".</p>

<p>"There is something deeply moving about people like Shri Devgan who took great personal risks to enthrall audiences in an era of no 'visual effects', knowing well that the glory of taking those risks would not be credited to them. It is said that great things can be achieved if we do not care who gets the credit but concentrate on doing the best we can," Modi wrote.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added, "He was known for his personal daredevilry, for pushing the limits as an action choreographer as well as for being meticulous about the safety of his team. Shri Devgn lived this ideal and his contributions to the film industry will be remembered forever. "</p>

<p>Veeru Devgan was ahead of his times. Back in the days when technology was not as advanced as today, Veeru Devgan choreographed some of the most interesting action sequences for Bollywood, making his actors` and stuntmen`s safety top priority.</p>

<p>The Hindi film fraternity remembered the veteran action directors work and more about on Monday as he breathed his last. He was 85.</p>

<p>Remembering Veeru as a responsible director, actress Madhuri Dixit Nene recalled, &nbsp;"He was such a caring action director who used to encourage us, but at the same time was very cautious about our safety. When he choreographed an action scene, he kept the safety in mind. He was such a wonderful human being."</p>

<p>Actor-director Satish Kaushik, who had worked with him as an actor and director, was emotional after he returned from the funeral of his 'Veeru paaji'.</p>

<p>"He was such a gentleman. He was a `Punjab ka puttar` in the true sense and had a huge heart. Everyone loved him so much... It was very sad to see him go away today," Satish Kaushik told a news agency.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Actor Anupam Kher called Veeru a "great action director" who always gave top importance to the "safety of actors and his fighter team".</p>

<p>Veeru is best known for directing action sequences for films like 'Himmatwala', 'Mr. India', 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', 'Phool Aur Kaante', 'Dilwale' and 'Laal Badshah'. He had also helmed the 1999 film 'Hindustan Ki Kasam', starring his son Ajay Devgn and megastar Amitabh Bachchan.</p>
