Indian national Uzma, who was forced to marry a Pakistan man at gunpoint, thanked External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Indian High Commission officials in Islamabad for facilitating her safe return home on Thursday.

At a joint press conference with the external affairs ministry in New Delhi, Uzma broke down as she described her ordeal after she was forced to marry a Pakistani at gunpoint in the Taliban-infested Buner.

She has blamed Tahir Ali, whom she reportedly met in Malaysia and fell in love with, of forcing her into marrying him in Pakistan.&nbsp;

She said she was drugged by her husband and allegedly kidnapped.

&quot;Tahir&nbsp;tortured me in all ways including emotionally. He threatened to kill my daughter if I didn&#39;t go according to them (family). They kept pistols with them.

The situation developed so fast. Tahir gave me a sleeping pill&nbsp;and from my point of view, this can be called a kidnapping. I did not know that the situation would deteriorate so much after crossing the Wagah Border. The place and the people were&nbsp;so strange. The&nbsp;people were not good. I do not know how to describe everyting, a visibly distraught Uzma said.

She also alleged that the women who went to Pakistan after an arranged marriage were living in very trying circumstances.

&quot;It&#39;s easy to enter Pakistan, but it&#39;s impossible to leave from there. I have seen women who go there after arranged marriages. 
 
They&#39;re miserable and living in terrible circumstances. There&#39;re two, three, even four wives in every house,&quot; she said.

&quot;If I had stayed there for few more days, I would have died. They lure women from east Asian countries like Phillipines, Malaysia... there&#39;re many women like me still trapped there,&quot; she added.

Uzma also expressed gratitude to Sushma Swaraj and India&#39;s deputy high commissioner to Pakistan, JP Singh, for their support.

&nbsp;&quot;I want to express my gratitude to Sushma Swaraj and the high commission officials for helping me. They made me realise that my life is valuable,&quot; she said.

Sushma ma&#39;am used to call me everyday that don&#39;t worry, we will not let anything happen to you. I was happy that the government was doing something for me, it was enough for me,&quot; she said.

Calling Uzma&nbsp;&quot;India&#39;s daughter&quot;, Sushma Swaraj thanked the Pakistan government for helping her return to India.

&quot;The moment she crossed the (Wagah) border, I was relieved. I also&nbsp;want to thank Uzma for placing her trust on the high commission,&quot; she said.

The Islamabad High Court allowed Uzma&#39;s&nbsp;plea earlier in the day and ordered the police to escort her to the Wagah Border.

Uzma hails from New Delhi. She had travelled to Pakistan earlier this month.

Pakistan a 'well of death', says India's Uzma who was forced to marry Pakistani at gunpoint

Indian national Uzma, who had accused her Pakistani husband of marrying her at gunpoint, has finally returned to India, a day after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted her the permission to.

External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj met her in the Indian capital soon after her return.

The IHC had also ordered police to provide her security till the Wagah Border.

An IHC bench, headed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, returned Uzma her original immigration form, which her husband Tahir had submitted to the court on Tuesday, reported Geo News.

Tahir also expressed his desire to meet Uzma in private, which the latter refused.

Justice Kayani remarked that if Uzma does not want to meet Tahir, then she won&#39;t be forced.&nbsp;

Wasim Ahmad, brother of Uzma, said the Indian government had done more than expected for Uzma, who got permission from the Islamabad High Court to return to India.

He also said that the Indian Embassy treated Uzma with full care. She took shelter in the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on May 5, 2017.

He added that he had no words to thank the government, Swaraj, and Indian High Commission in Pakistan.

On May 19, Uzma had submitted a six-page reply to the High Court and reiterated her earlier claims and said that she was forced to sign the Nikkahnama [marriage papers].

The reply also claimed that Tahir`s affidavit was based on lies. The reply also requested that Uzma was allowed to travel to India as her visa would expire on May 30.

Earlier, while recording her statement before the Court of a Judicial Magistrate Uzma (20) also alleged that she was sedated, assaulted, tortured mentally and physically by the man in Pakistan who had invited her to visit his family in Pakistan.

Uzma, who hails from New Delhi, also stated the she had taken shelter in High Commission of India of her own accord and would stay there till she is sent back to India with security.

The case came to the forefront after her husband claimed that Indian High Commission has stopped her wife from leaving the premises during their visit to apply for visa on May 7.&nbsp;

Ali claimed Uzma went inside the building and did not come back.

He then filed a case with the local police alleging that she was detained against her will.

But according to PTI, Pakistan foreign office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said in a statement that the Indian high commission had informed the ministry of foreign affairs that Uzma had approached them with the request that she be &ldquo;repatriated to India&rdquo;.

Zakaria said that according to the Indian high&nbsp;commission, she claimed to have come to know only after her marriage that Tahir was already married and that he had four children, PTI reported.&nbsp;

The court has reportedly ordered the police to provide her security till the Wagah Border.

A 20-year-old Indian woman, who approached the Indian High Commission here with a request to repatriate her, today alleged that she was forced to marry a Pakistani citizen at gunpoint, marking a new turn in the case.

Uzma filed a plea with an Islamabad court against her husband Tahir Ali alleging that she was being harassed and intimidated by him. She also recorded her statement before a magistrate.

Alleging that she was forced to marry Ali on gunpoint, she said: &quot;My immigration documents were snatched&quot;, Geo News reported.

Uzma said she does not want to leave the Indian High Commission premises till she could safely travel back to India.

According to reports, Uzma&#39;s husband met her in the High Commission this morning but he was not present in the court.

The Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi said that the immigration documents state that Uzma obtained the visa under the visit category.

Pakistani authorities have said that the Indian citizen did not share her plans to marry in Pakistan when she applied for the visa and expressed her intent to visit her relatives in Pakistan.
