<p>The flyer reportedly purchased his ticket three months in advance, however, flight attendants informed him that the flight was oversold, leaving no seats available for him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Regardless of being asked to deplane, the flyer refused, according to the Columbian media.</p>

<p>The clearly upset passenger launched into a heated argument with the flight attendants. He felt he was being treated unfairly and demanded, "Stop offering me lousy alternatives, I have to be on that flight!" In an attempt to gain leverage, he declared, "I'm a lawyer, you should show me some respect."</p>

<p>Tension escalated as the flight attendants, faced with the man's disobedience, warned they'd call the police.</p>

<p>In Colombia, the selling of flight tickets is regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to regulations, the airline should have offered the affected passenger an alternative way to reach their destination on the same date and via the same route.</p>

<p>If the airline couldn't get him on another flight to Bogotá that same day, they were obligated to compensate him at least 30% of his ticket price.</p>

<p>“The said passenger verbally abused the crew members and then went on to physically assault one of them on board. On landing at Delhi airport, the passenger continued with the unprovoked, aggressive behaviour and was handed over to the security personnel. We have also reported the incident to the regulator," the spokesperson said.</p>

<p>The statement added that the safety of the crew members and passengers is the utmost priority of Air India. "Safety of our crew and passengers is of utmost importance to us and we strongly condemn this unruly behaviour of the passenger. We will offer all support to the affected crew members," the spokesperson said.</p>
