Billionaire Elon Musk faced an interruption in&nbsp;his drive to rebrand the microblogging platform Twitter to X when police arrived at the spot and halted the work.

As a part of the rebranding of the social media firm, on Monday, the iconic vertical Twitter lettering was removed from the company’s San Francisco headquarters when the local police department paused them from continuing the “unauthorised work,” as per The San Francisco Standard reports.

Only the letters “er” were left on one side of the sign with the bird logo at the time when the work was stopped.&nbsp;

The police officers on the scene said that the Twitter officials had a work order to pull the down the sign at the Market Street headquarters but the firm did not inform the security officials and the owner of the building.

“Police on the scene said someone with Twitter had a work order to take the sign down but didn’t communicate it with security and the property owner of the building,” the Standard added.

Amid the confusion the police were called, however, the officials later through their inquiry determined that no crime had been committed and that the incident was not a police matter.

"Officers assigned to Tenderloin Station responded to the area of 10th and Market streets regarding a report of a possible unpermitted street closure," The San Francisco Standard quoted a police spokesperson as saying in an email.&nbsp;

"Through their investigation, officers were able to determine that no crime was committed and this incident was not a police matter."&nbsp;

On Monday, Elon Musk while elucidating on his decision to rebrand Twitter as 'X' said that it was not 'simply' a renaming process.&nbsp;

In a post on X, Musk said acquiring Twitter was to ensure freedom of speech as well as "act as an accelerant for X - the everything app."

"This is not simply a company renaming itself, but doing the same thing," Musk wrote, adding that Twitter had served its purpose and that it had evolved past its name.&nbsp;

"The Twitter name made sense when it was just 140 character messages going back and forth – like birds tweeting – but now you can post almost anything, including several hours of video," wrote Musk.&nbsp;

He also hinted at the big changes that were coming, including the transformation of the platform into a financial app.&nbsp;

"In the months to come, we will add comprehensive communications and the ability to conduct your entire financial world. The Twitter name does not make sense in that context, so we must bid adieu to the bird," Musk emphasised.&nbsp;

Police halt Twitter's rebranding drive halfway at company's San Francisco headquarters

Twitter is being forced to leave its Boulder, Colorado headquarters because it hasn't paid the rent in months, according to a report&nbsp;in the Denver Business Journal.&nbsp;

As reported by TechCrunch, the company moved into the premises in February 2020 and used a letter of credit with a value of about $1 million to pay for the first three months of rent.

The judge issued an order on May 31 for the sheriff to assist in evicting Musk's company within 49 days after the landlord sued Twitter in court last month, according to TechCrunch.

The company has previously faced legal action from a number of other landlords who claim it hasn't been paying rent on its San Francisco headquarters and its King Charles-owned office in London.

Musk allegedly stated in a 4 a.m. conversation&nbsp;that the company would only pay office rent "over his dead body," according to a lawsuit&nbsp;brought by former Twitter workers last month.

As per&nbsp;the lawsuit, Alex Spiro, Musk's lawyer, "loudly opined" that it was unfair for Twitter's landlords to expect it to pay rent since San Francisco was a "shithole."

It appears to be a strategy to assist Twitter save expenses after Musk, as previously reported by Insider, reduced employees by over 90 per cent&nbsp;to save money.

<h2>Twitter suspends accounts belonging to Elon Musk critic Aaron Greenspan</h2>

Twitter, which is controlled by Elon Musk, has suspended two accounts that belong to Aaron Greenspan, a loud opponent of the Tesla CEO, and has removed both his personal account and that of Plainsite, his online database.

Twitter reportedly suspended the handles on Tuesday, according CNBC. At the time of suspension, Plainsite had roughly 24,000 followers compared to about 2,500 followers for Greenspan's personal account.&nbsp;According to CNBC, Greenspan has meticulously&nbsp;followed legal actions taken by or against businesses, mostly in the United States, such as Tesla and Twitter. Both these are companies&nbsp;that Musk owns.

With the help of two friends, Greenspan founded Plainsite in 2011, which gives consumers free access to files from both state and federal courts. He has engaged in legal battles with the wealthy over the years.

In the latest "shock" to them, when the disgruntled employees showed up for work on Monday (November 5), they were greeted by the sight of "modest bedrooms featuring unmade mattresses, drab curtains and giant conference-room telepresence monitors", reports Forbes.

As per the latest reports, San Francisco's Department of Building Inspection has launched an investigation into the complaint that Musk has converted the company's headquarters.

"We need to make sure the building is being used as intended," said Patrick Hannan, the department's communications director adding that residential buildings, even those meant for short stays have "different building code requirements".

It remains unclear just how many beds are there, however, the anonymous source speculates that there were "four to eight" uncomfortable-looking beds on every floor.
