Musk and his legal team have also subpoenaed the whistleblower who is known as "Mudge", seeking information about the microblogging platform's methodology for measuring spam accounts.

Famous hacker Peiter Zatko, a.k.a Mudge, alleged in his complaint last week that Twitter falsely stated it had a strong security plan and that the company prioritised user growth over eliminating spam.

Reuters reports that in a letter dated August 29, Musk and his legal team said that if the allegation were accurate, Twitter had violated some of the terms of the merger agreement.

According to a regulatory filing made by Musk on Tuesday, his legal team claimed that allegations regarding specific facts that Twitter was aware of before July 8 but which&nbsp;were not disclosed to them create additional and distinct grounds to terminate the agreement.

However, Twitter has said in its regulatory filing that the new termination notice was illegal and void under the terms of the agreement.

For more than a month now, Tesla CEO has sought ways to terminate the deal with Twitter. In his attempts, he has subpoenaed Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, the social media company's employees and also external players like ad tech firms.

Musk says that the reason behind this is that he was misled by Twitter about the true number of bot or spam account on the platform.

In a hunt for material to help him abandon the contentious $44 billion Twitter buyout deal, Elon Musk has now knocked on the doors of co-founder and former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.&nbsp;

AFP reports that as per records made public, the Tesla CEO has served Dorsey with a legal order that requires him to give Musk any communications or documents pertaining to the April takeover agreement.&nbsp;

New York-based Integral Ad Science (IAS) and DoubleVerify, have been served subpoenas by Musk's attorneys demanding any records or correspondence about their participation in any audit of Twitter's user base or in examining accounts.

As per Reuters, the two businesses serve advertisers who want to make sure that the ads they pay for are seen by actual people and not just automated bots. They do this by using technology to verify independently&nbsp;that actual people are viewing digital ads.

Alleging the social media platform misled him about key aspects of its business before he agreed to a $44 billion buyout, Elon Musk has accused Twitter of fraud.

While Twitter is seeking to force him to close the deal, Musk has argued the number of users who can be shown advertising on the platform is far below the firm's figures.

"Twitter's disclosures have slowly unraveled, with Twitter frantically closing the gates on information in a desperate bid to prevent the Musk Parties from uncovering its fraud," the filing stated.

Accusing Twitter of committing fraud and breaching its contract along with violation of a securities law in Texas, Musk’s counterclaims were filed confidentially last week.
