On Day 19 of Donald Trump’s hush money trial, the prosecution concluded its case, presenting over 200 pieces of evidence and testimony from 20 witnesses. The defence began its rebuttal, which was marked by dramatic courtroom moments and heated exchanges.

Here are the key takeaways from Day 19 of Trump's hush money trail:&nbsp;

<h2>- Prosecution rests case</h2>

The prosecution wrapped up after days of extensive testimonies from Michael Cohen, Stormy Daniels, former Trump aide Hope Hicks, and ex-National Enquirer publisher David Pecker. Michael Cohen repeated his allegations that Trump directed him to pay Daniels and approved the reimbursement plan central to the charges.

Trump's attorney Todd Blanche, during cross-examination,&nbsp;attempted to discredit Cohen’s reliability. Prosecutors bolstered their case with documents and expert testimonies to corroborate Cohen's claims.

<h2>- Defence witness infuriates judge</h2>

Defence witness Robert Costello faced Judge Juan Merchan's ire for repeatedly violating courtroom decorum. Merchan rebuked Costello for his audible complaints and disrespectful behaviour, even clearing the courtroom of the press momentarily. "When there’s a witness on the stand, if you don’t like my ruling, you don’t say ‘jeez,’” Judge Merchan told Costello. “You don’t give me a side eye and you don’t roll your eyes.”

Merchan said, “I’m putting you on notice that your conduct is contemptuous" and “if you try to stare me down one more time, I will remove you from the stand.” Costello will continue his testimony under cross-examination by prosecutor Susan Hoffinger.&nbsp;

<h2>- Trump's defence, Cohen's theft</h2>

The defence, having started its case with Costello and a paralegal, seems poised to rest on Tuesday (May 21).&nbsp;Judge Merchan scheduled closing arguments for next Tuesday (May 28).&nbsp;

Earlier, in an admission of theft, Cohen under cross-examination said he stole $60,000 from the Trump Organization, citing frustration over an unpaid bonus.

He also reaffirmed his testimony that Trump authorised the payment to Daniels.

<h2>- Prosecutors vs defence over Cohen’s call</h2>

Blanche had questioned Cohen's account of a phone call updating Trump on the Daniels payment by calling Trump’s former bodyguard&nbsp;Keith Schiller at&nbsp;8:02 pm on October 24, 2016.&nbsp;

Blanche said that it was actually about a harassing prank caller.

However, Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger&nbsp;countered with evidence, placing Trump and his bodyguard together at the time of the call at a&nbsp;Trump’s rally.&nbsp;

Cohen maintained he spoke with Trump about Daniels numerous times in October 2016, standing firm despite rigorous cross-examination.

The Trump campaign has come out strongly against The Apprentice, a film that shocked audiences at Cannes with its portrayal of former US president Donald Trump raping his first wife, Ivana Trump, among other things.&nbsp;

A spokesperson of the campaign confirmed that the Republican plans to sue "to address the blatantly false assertions from these pretend filmmakers."

<h2>'Pure fiction'</h2>

In a conversation with Variety following the film's premiere, Trump's chief spokesperson Steven Cheung on Monday (May 20) slammed the movie, directed by Ali Abbasi and starring Sebastian Stan as Trump.

Cheung called it "garbage" and "pure fiction," saying it sensationalises "lies that have been long debunked."

"As with the illegal Biden Trials, this is election interference by Hollywood elites, who know that President Trump will retake the White House and beat their candidate of choice because nothing they have done has worked," said Cheung.

Labelling the film "pure malicious defamation," he said it "should not see the light of day, and doesn't even deserve a place in the straight-to-DVD section of a bargain bin at a soon-to-be-closed discount movie store, it belongs in a dumpster fire."

The Apprentice received an eight-minute standing ovation at Cannes on Monday, reports The Guardian.&nbsp;

It includes scenes of Trump undergoing liposuction and scalp-reduction surgery.

However, the most controversial scene is where he rapes Ivana Trump.

Even though it opens with a disclaimer stating that the events are fictionalised, the movie has sparked intense reactions.

<h2>The alleged rape</h2>

The rape scene is a dramatised version of an incident disclosed in the couple's 1990 divorce proceedings.

Ivana Trump initially described the 1989 incident as a rape but later retracted, stating that while she felt violated, she didn't mean it in a criminal sense.

"On one occasion during 1989, Mr Trump and I had marital relations in which he behaved very differently towards me than he had during our marriage. As a woman I felt violated … I referred to this as a rape, but I do not want my words to be interpreted in a literal or criminal sense," she said in a 1993 statement.

US presidential elections have focused in the past few months largely on two issues how the Biden Administration has handled the crisis in war in Gaza. Two the raging abortion debate in the US. Now Republican leader and presidential hopeful Donald Trump's speech has put another key issue under the spotlight America's gun laws.

Former US president Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner signed a 99-year lease deal with the Serbian authorities, allowing his company to recondition two buildings at the site of the former Yugoslav army headquarters in Belgrade that was bombed in US-led NATO strikes in 1999. In a statement, the Serbian Construction Ministry said on Wednesday (May 15) that Kushner’s US-based investment firm Affinity Global Development “will invest in the revitalisation” of the former military complex. The building project, however, has caused widespread criticism in Serbia as the site is a painful symbol of the NATO bombing campaign. Donald J. Trump, the former president, is in hot water over his Chicago tower's taxes. Trump's big tower in Chicago was supposed to be a success, but it ended up losing a lot of money because of high costs and the recession. When Trump tried to get some money back through taxes, the IRS said he did it wrong.

Donald Trump's former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen is expected to take the witness stand Monday in the former US President's hush money criminal trial. Watch in for more details!

Trump Hush Money Trial: Michael Cohen expected to testify Monday

Barron Trump, the youngest son of Donald Trump, who has remained mostly out of public view as he completes high school, will make his first appearance in the political arena in July, as reported by AFP.

At the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee, he will take on the role of delegate alongside his siblings to represent Florida. This convention marks the formal nomination of Donald Trump as the Republican candidate for the upcoming presidential election, as delegates from across the nation gather to officially endorse their chosen candidate.

Barron will join his siblings Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Tiffany Trump as members of the Florida delegation, according to the state party's announcement.&nbsp;

Earlier this year, Barron was seen standing head and shoulders above his family members at his grandmother's funeral. While residing in the White House during his father's presidency, Barron was meticulously sheltered from public exposure by his mother Melania.

"He's on the delegation roster and Barron is very interested in our nation's political process," a Republican campaign official told ABC News.

Trump's oldest daughter, Ivanka, isn't going to the convention in Florida as a delegate. She worked with her husband Jared Kushner as a top advisor when her father was president before.

Trump's sons, Don Jr. and Eric, are usually with him and often join him on the campaign trail to help him get re-elected.

Trump is making sure his family has more power in the party before the election. In March, they chose Lara, who is married to Eric, to be in charge of&nbsp;the Republican National Committee.

The ex-president has been given a break from his legal proceedings in New York to be present at Barron's graduation next Friday.

This testimony unfolded in open court on Tuesday morning (May 7) in Manhattan.

"He was wearing silk or satin pajamas that I immediately made fun of," Daniels said as a prosecutor questioned her about the encounter. "'Does Hugh Hefner know you stole his pajamas?'" she recalled asking Trump.

Her detailed and explicit testimony provided new insights into a story that has been extensively scrutinised over the years.&nbsp;

Barron will join his siblings Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Tiffany Trump as members of the Florida delegation, according to the state party's announcement. Earlier this year, Barron was seen standing head and shoulders above his family members at his grandmother's funeral. While residing in the White House during his father's presidency, Barron was meticulously sheltered from public exposure by his mother Melania. In March, they chose Lara, who is married to Eric, to be in charge of the Republican National Committee. The ex-president has been given a break from his legal proceedings in New York to be present at Barron's graduation next Friday. The judge presiding over Donald Trump's criminal trial&nbsp;fined him $1,000 on Monday (May 6), for breaching the gag order for the tenth time.

Justice Juan Merchan cautioned that he would contemplate incarcerating Trump for any subsequent infractions. Merchan noted that the nine fines of $1,000 each imposed previously did not appear to dissuade Trump from violating the gag order, which prohibits him from publicly discussing jurors, witnesses, and the families of the judge and prosecutors if such remarks try to interfere with the case.

Merchan stated that he saw jail time as "truly the last resort" for several reasons, including the trial's disruption, the political implications of imprisoning a leading presidential candidate before an election, and the exceptional security challenges of detaining a former president with ongoing Secret Service protection.

Nonetheless, he said that Trump's persistent and deliberate violations of the gag order amounted to a "direct attack on the rule of law."

“I do not want to impose a jail sanction and have done everything I can to avoid doing so. But I will if necessary,” Merchan said from the bench in the absence of the jury.
