The Bear and Shōgun lead the Emmy nominations! Beloved FX series The Bears earned 23 nominations at the 76th Emmy Awards. The nomination list was announced on Wednesday the comedy show, set in a sandwich shop in Chicago leads the list along with the drama series Shōgun.

The nomination list was announced on Wednesday the comedy show, set in a sandwich shop in Chicago leads the list along with the drama series Shōgun. The Emmys is considered the top television award, honouring the best of TV and OTT. The Bear's 23 nominations broke the record of another iconic comedy show 30 Rock which had earned 22 nods at Emmys 2009. In the drama category, Shōgun led the nominations with 25 nods. The record of 32 nominations, held by HBO’s Game of Thrones since 2016, remains unbroken. Some past favourites, including Succession and Ted Lasso, were not in contention this year, but The Crown and The Morning Show and Only Murders in the Building found mentions in the list and earned multiple nominations. Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale announced this year’s nominees. Ralph also earned a nomination in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her work on Abbott Elementary. She had won in the category back in 2022. The 76th Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, September 15 on ABC. For Indian fans, the awards will be streamed Live on September 16 at 5:30 am (IST) only on Lionsgate Play. Emmy Nominations 2024: The Bear and Shogun earn the maximum nods, see full list here

Hit series Shogun, The Bear, and Baby Reindeer are expected to rack up nominations for this year's Emmys as the contenders for television's version of the Oscars are unveiled Wednesday. Nominees will be announced in a live-streamed ceremony starting at 8:30 am Pacific time (1530 GMT), after which final-round voting begins for the 76th Emmy Awards, set for September 15.

Shogun&nbsp;-- adapted from James Clavell's historical fiction novel -- transported viewers to early 17th-century Japan. Starting from the perspective of a marooned English sailor, its scope widens over 10 acclaimed episodes to span the intricate and deadly court politics of the era, fleshing out a remarkable cast of Japanese heroes and villains.

With another two seasons already in the works, it is a hot favourite in this year's drama categories. "Because it's got everything going for it in terms of acting, writing, directing" and many technical categories, "Shogun is probably going to be the top one," Deadline awards columnist Pete Hammond told AFP.

Bizarrely entered in the Emmys' comedy categories, despite dealing with hard-hitting issues like grief and addiction, The Bear&nbsp;is expected to contend again.

It is up against shows including Hacks, Abbott Elementary, Only Murders in the Building&nbsp;and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

It was billed as a "true story" -- a claim that helped lure audiences, but sparked a lawsuit from a British woman who says she was the inspiration for the stalker and is demanding $170 million in damages.&nbsp; "I don't think the controversy is going to hurt it in terms of nominations," said Hammond.

Baby Reindeer&nbsp;is in contention against the likes of Fargo, True Detective, Ripley&nbsp;and Lessons in Chemistry.

Shogun vs The Bear? Hit TV shows await Emmy nominations

The Bear season 3 teaser is here and we see that Jeremy Allen White is back in the kitchen in the middle of the night. Ready for premiere on June 27, the network FX announced that they are finally cutting short the anticipation for the next season of the popular show, The Bear.&nbsp;

In the short teaser, Jeremy’s Carmy gazes into the camera that zooms out over Lake Shore Drive and the Chicago skyline.&nbsp;

The Bear this time around again, will drop all episodes at the same time and not in portions. The same happened for the first two seasons too. The Bear season 3 will follow the story of a restaurant’s kitchen crew who transformed&nbsp;their family-owned sandwich shop into a fine dining spot in season 2.&nbsp;

‘The Bear’ renewed for season 4, to film alongside season 3?

The Bear stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri snagged television honours on Saturday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, one of Hollywood's biggest ceremonies leading up to the Oscars.

The awards were voted on by members of the SAG-AFTRA actors union, and winners and attendees reflected on their early days trying to make it in show business.

"I am so honoured to be in this community," White said as he accepted the award for best actor in a television comedy. "I wanted to be part of this my whole life. I had no backup plan."

His co-star, Edebiri, won best actress in a TV comedy for the show about a gourmet chef trying to turn around his family's Chicago sandwich shop.

Ali Wong was named best actress in a limited series for road rage drama Beef. She thanked her 83-year-old mother who was in the audience.

"I know it was really hard when I told you I wanted to do standup comedy, and I hope you feel like it all worked out," she said.

Blockbuster movies Barbie&nbsp;and Oppenheimer&nbsp;were facing off again for the night's top award of best motion picture cast. Others in the running are The Color Purple, Killers of the Flower Moon&nbsp;and American Fiction.

The ceremony took place after SAG-AFTRA staged a four-month strike against Hollywood studios last year to fight for higher pay and protections around artificial intelligence.

"It is especially meaningful to be here with us all together again, for this occasion, after going through a very difficult time with the strike," actor Idris Elba said in opening remarks.

The ceremony was streaming live on Netflix (NFLX.O), opening a new tab for the first time, part of the streaming service's efforts to expand its live programming.

SAG-AFTRA's film choices are closely watched because actors form the largest group of voters for next month's Academy Awards, the film industry's top prizes.
