And with cinema halls reopening from July in US and UK, fans of the filmmaker were looking forward to watching the film on the film in July itself. But that's not going to happen anymore. 
 
Makers of `Tenet` have once again delayed its release and the film will now premiere on August 12.

According to Variety, the USD 200 million budget film was initially slated to hit the theatres on July 17 but was later postponed to July 31. The film was primed to reignite the fire of moviegoing after a long COVID-19 induced shutdown. 
"Warner Bros. is committed to bringing `Tenet` to audiences in theatres, on the big screen, when exhibitors are ready and public health officials say it is time," Variety quoted Warner Bros. spokesperson as saying. 
 
"At this moment, what we need to be is flexible, and we are not treating this as a traditional movie release. We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film on their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy," the spokesperson added. 
 
The latest push back in the release of the action-thriller comes after the New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the theatres in the state will reopen in phase 4.

The film features John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh.

Director Christopher&nbsp;Nolan's thriller "Tenet" will debut in cinemas on July 31, distributor Warner Bros. said on Friday, the first new blockbuster in months for movie theaters that need fresh films to lure audiences after pandemic-related closures.

Theaters are starting to reopen worldwide since going dark in mid-March to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. Cinema operators hope "Tenet" and other blockbusters will help create a late-summer rebound.

The "Tenet" release date announced Friday is two weeks later than the previously planned July 17 debut. But Warner Bros., a unit of AT&amp;T Inc, confirmed that one of the year's most highly anticipated movies will not face a longer delay as many in Hollywood feared.

"Tenet" is a big budget, science-fiction spy movie starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson from the British director of hits like "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Inception." Little has been revealed about the plot.

"We're especially thrilled, in this complex and rapidly changing environment, to be bringing Christopher&nbsp;Nolan’s 'Tenet,' a global tentpole of jaw-dropping size, scope and scale, to theaters around the world on July 31," Warner Bros. Picture Group Chairman Toby Emmerich said.

"It's been longer than any of us could’ve imagined since we’ve seen a movie on the big screen," Emmerich added.

Studios need as many locations open as possible to make back their investments in big-budget movies. Theater attendance will be limited to enforce social-distancing requirements, and it is unclear how comfortable audiences will be to return to cinemas.

Large theater operators including AMC Entertainment Holdings and Cineworld Group Plc have said they expect most of their locations worldwide to be open in July.

But then we heard about a rehearsal that she had with Christopher Nolan and John David Washington, and they both came away and said, ‘Well, if that’s nervous, I don’t know what calm is.’ Because she was perfect and quite awesomely brilliant as far as they were concerned and also completely gracious and delightful with the crew. So she made a tremendous impression."

He was incredibly popular with our cast, they loved him."
