The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has decided to allow Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq and Fazalgaq Farooqi to play in franchise T20 cricket after initially revoking their No Objection Certificates (NOCs). Their eligibility to play in global T20 leagues was suspended after the trio had expressed desires to be relieved of the central contracts last month. The ACB, not only immediately suspended their ongoing NOC, but barred them from playing in any global T20 league for next two years.

The board, however, has now relaxed its previous instance and has allowed the players to take part in limited number of T20 leagues. The ACB has also cleared all three of them for signing the central contracts. The trio although, has been issued a final warning along with a financial penalty - wage cut from their month salary and/or their match fees. The move comes after the players expressed 'strong desire' to represent the country following a comprehensive investigation done after the initial sanctions.

Speaking on the latest relaxation, ACB chief Mirwais Ashraf said: "We really hope the players avoid making similar inconveniences in the future as we expect them to represent the country in the best of manners. The ACB and the rules are above all of us and it's important to adhere to the regulations because there are no exceptions for anyone in this regard. However, such cases of a similar nature would be dealt with more strictly as we prioritise the prestige of the Afghanistan Cricket and the organisation."

While Naveen and Farooqi had played in the T20I series against UAE after the first set of sanctions, Mujeeb has been included in the squad for the upcoming three T20I series against India which starts on January 11. Mujeeb was in Australia, playing in domestic T20 tournament Big Bash League (BBL) when the sanctions were announced.&nbsp;

Earlier, the ICC chairman Greg Barclay had also confirmed Saudi’s keen interest in cricket.

"If you look at other sports they've been involved in, cricket is something I imagine would be attractive to them," he said. "Given their advance into the sport more generally, cricket would work quite well for Saudi Arabia. They're pretty keen to invest in sport, and given their regional presence, cricket would seem a pretty obvious one to pursue," Barclay added.

Not only this, but the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation chairman Prince Saud bin Mishal Al-Saud also told Arab News last month that their aim is to create a sustainable industry for locals and make the country a cricket destination.

"Our aim is to create a sustainable industry for locals and expats living in the Kingdom and make Saudi Arabia a global cricketing destination."

As per the report, a few of the Saudi government representatives have also been spotted around the Indian cricket body and looking to convince the top bosses to join hands for a supreme future project. Besides this, they also want to stage the annual Asia Cup in addition to hosting the opening match or even a round of IPL in the country.

"He wrote to the board yesterday. I don't see an issue in him getting the nod to play in overseas leagues now that he has retired from international cricket and IPL," a BCCI source told PTI on Tuesday.

The BCCI has barred active players from taking part in overseas T20 leagues and that is one of the reasons, Yuvraj considered retirement to make himself available for competitions around the world.

Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan, who had retired from international cricket, were allowed to be part of the T10 League in the UAE.

Last month, Irfan Pathan became the first Indian player to be included in the Caribbean Premier League draft though he remains an active first-class player and did not take prior permission from the BCCI.

The BCCI had also withdrawn his brother Yusuf's NOC for participation in a Hong Kong T20 tournament two years ago.

Last week, Yuvraj had said that he was looking forward to play in foreign T20 leagues.

"I want to play T20 cricket. At this age I can manage to play some kind of fun cricket. I want to go and enjoy my life. It's been too stressful just thinking about my international career, performing and big tournaments like the IPL," said the 37-year-old.&nbsp;
