<p>Sushma Swaraj had served in PM Modi's cabinet as external affairs minister throughout the NDA government's first term from 2014 to 2019. Swaraj had decided not to fight the general elections in 2019 due to ill health.</p>

<p>Zuleqa Begum, mother of Mohammed Imran has claimed that his passport and other belongings were forcibly taken by some unidentified persons in Bangladesh.</p>

<p>Narrating her ordeal, Zuleqa Begum told ANI, "Some 15 months back, my son went to Oman for work and started worked in a store. There he befriended a Bangladeshi National. Later on December 16, 2018, Imran came to Hyderabad on vacation and stayed with us in Hyderabad for two months. He then informed us that he is going to Kolkata for some work."</p>

<p>She added that after few days, Imran informed over the phone that he is in Bangladesh to attend a marriage of his Bangladeshi friend whom he had met in Oman, adding that he will be back to Hyderabad in two to three days but unfortunately he did not come back.</p>

<p>Owing to the difficulties faced by the victim, her family has appealed Swaraj to ensure his safe return.</p>

<p>"But once he called us again after 15 days and said that his passport was forcibly taken by few persons and they are also not letting him to speak with us or return back to India. Hence, I request Sushma Swaraj to rescue my son and see his safe return to Hyderabad," the grieving mother said.</p>

<p>A Pakistani lawmaker from Prime Minister Imran Khan's party has met top Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as Islamabad started backdoor contacts with New Delhi to defuse tensions between the two sides in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack, a media report said Sunday.</p>

<p>"The government has begun backdoor contacts with India and the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, who was in India last week, has met Prime Minister Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj," the Express Tribune reported.</p>

<p>"I have communicated a positive note to the Indian leaders and I hope there will now be a change in their behaviour," Vankwani said on Saturday while talking to the paper over telephone.</p>

<p>He also met Minster of State for External Affairs General VK Singh, who has also served as the chief of the Indian Army.</p>

<p>The Sindh-based PTI leader, who is a lawmaker on minority seat, is in India as part of a 220-member delegation from 185 countries who attended the Kumbh Mela on an invite of the Indian government.</p>

<p>His visit comes amid heightened tensions between the two countries in the wake of February 14 suicide attack by Jaish-e-Mohammad that killed at least 40 CRPF soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.</p>

<p>Days after the Pulwama attack, Prime Minister Modi said security forces have been given free hand to avenge the dastardly act.</p>

We assure you that no Pakistani institution is involved in Pulwama attack. If India provides evidence, we will facilitate the investigation," the paper quoted Vankwani as saying.</p>

<p>According to the PTI leader, he told Swaraj that the two countries need to take lessons from past and not to hold on to it.</p>

<p>"Enmity can be brought to an end by befriending the enemy," he said, adding that he himself has returned after Ganga Ashnan (ablution) and never tells lies.</p>

<p>Today, India is also having good relations with those countries who are traditional rivals, like the US and Russia, Israel and Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Iran, she said, adding this is possible due to the government's foreign policy, which is based on "nation's interest first".</p>

<p>Swaraj said that in the last four years the government has rescued around 2.33 lakh Indians, from around the world, stuck at various places including the Gulf countries or war-torn Yemen.</p>

<p>"It was due to our relations with Muslim-majority nations, like Saudi Arabia and Yemen that we were able to evacuate around 5,000 Indians and around 2,000 nationals of other countries, including three Pakistanis," she said.&nbsp;<br />
She also appreciated their contribution in enhancing relations with the UAE, which hosts a 33 lakh-strong Indian community - the largest number of Indians outside India.</p>

<p>About the India-UAE relations, the External Affairs Minister said the relations between the two countries from buyer and seller (of oil for energy) is changing.</p>

<p>"And with the signing of today's agreement, the cooperation between the two countries will achieve a new height. This is only a beginning," she said.<br />
She also praised an Emirati singer Yasir Habib who sang Mahathma Gandhi's favourite bhajan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at the United Nations General Assembly took a strict stand on terrorism stating that "no one should be allowed to support terror or its perpetrators."</p>

<p>The Government of Pakistan on Friday reacted to India's move to call off the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of both the countries. Pakistan government stated that India's reason to cancel the meeting was 'unconvincing'.</p>

<p>India on Friday called off the meeting between Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi that was supposed to take place in New York, United States later this month on the sidelines of annual UN General Assembly (UNGA) session.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The move came after the bodies of three Jammu and Kashmir cops were found in the region on Friday. The soldiers were allegedly abducted and killed by a Pakistan-backed terrorist organisation. India also stated that the <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/true-face-imran-khan-revealed-says-mea-after-calling-talks-pak-167000">true face of Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has been revealed</a> in the wake of the brutal killings.&nbsp;</p>

<p>''Since yesterday's announcement of the meeting of foreign ministers of India and Pakistan, two deeply disturbing developments took place. Latest brutal killings of our security personnel by Pakistan entities and the recent release of series of 20 postal stamps by Pakistan glorifying terrorists,'' Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said on Friday.</p>

<p>Pakistan government rejected India's claim stating that India had announced the bilateral talks much ahead of the "disturbing developments." It described India's comments on Pak PM Imran Khan, "against all norms of civilised discourse and diplomatic communication."</p>

<p>"The reasons cited by the Indian side for the decision to cancel the Foreign Ministers' meeting, within 24 hours of its public confirmation, are entirely unconvincing," read an official statement.</p>

<p>"Firstly, the alleged killing of BSF soldier took place two days prior to the Indian announcement of its agreement to hold the bilateral meeting," the statement read.</p>

<p>"When the allegations of Pakistan's involvement first appeared, the Pakistan Rangers clearly conveyed to BSF through official channels that Pakistan had nothing to do with it. Pakistan Rangers also extended help in efforts to locate the soldier's body. These facts were known to the Indian authorities and a part of the Indian media also reported that Pakistan had refuted its involvement. Yet, this motivated and malicious propaganda continued. Pakistan takes this opportunity to categorically reject these allegations once again. Our authorities would be prepared to conduct a joint investigation to establish the truth," it said.</p>

<p>Reiterating the significance of dialogue, the Pak government stated that it "has always desired peaceful and good-neighbourly relations with India, on the basis of sovereign equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit. In our view, dialogue and diplomacy are the only constructive way forward for the two countries to address mutual concerns, rebuild trust, resolve longstanding disputes, and establish durable peace in South Asia. For its part, Pakistan will persist in its quest for peace and development. But, as we have consistently emphasised, our approach will continue to be guided by the aforementioned principles and the dictates of national dignity."</p>

<p>Friday's incident angered India after which the government decided to call off the upcoming meeting with Pakistan.</p>
