<p>According to Miami-Dade police, a confrontation erupted at the Martini Bar within the CityPlace Doral premises early Saturday morning (April 6). The altercation led to the fatal shooting of a security guard, who intervened in the altercation, by the gunman. Subsequently, the assailant was also killed in an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement, as reported by Alvaro Zabaleta, a Miami-Dade detective, cited by the Guardian.</p>

<p>Six bystanders, comprising five men and one woman, sustained injuries during the shootout, along with a police officer who was shot in the leg, as stated by Zabaleta.</p>

<p>“Officers that were working at the commercial establishment at the time immediately responded, and there was an exchange of gunfire,” Zabaleta said during a news conference.</p>

<p>“Unfortunately, the security guard lost his life while he was performing his duties, and of course, our heart goes out to that family,” he added.</p>

<p>The wounded police officer, who applied his own tourniquet according to CBS News, has been discharged from the hospital. Local residents expressed shock at the violent incident.</p>

<p>The identity of the shooter is being investigated by authorities.</p>

<p>The authorities said they were responding to “an active shooting” at the Paddock mall in Ocala, located about 80 miles north-west of Orlando, on the day before Christmas Eve.</p>

<p>The incident took place on Saturday at around 3:40 pm.</p>

<p>The police said the gunman fled the mall after what they described as a “targeted” attack on the victim.</p>

<p>Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken told the media that a male victim of the shooting incident was found dead in a common area of the mall after he was shot multiple times.</p>

<p>A woman was also shot in the leg.</p>

<p>The mall was packed with shoppers ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities when the incident happened.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin confirmed that the attacker had been apprehended and the situation brought under control. He told reporters: "Police are clearing the scene. The situation is easing."&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a message sent to reporters, Yuthana Srettanan, the director of the Erawan Emergency Center, earlier said three people were killed and four wounded in the incident.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In social media videos, dozens of police vehicles and a number of ambulances could be seen outside one of the shopping centre's main entrances.&nbsp;</p>
