<p>Shashi Kapoor&#39;s final rites took place at Santacruz crematorium in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. The entire Kapoor family was in attendance at the funeral as the late actor&#39;s elder son Kunal performed the last rites.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Celebrities braved rains and crowd to attend the funeral of the late actor. Among those who were spotted at the funeral were the Bachchans- Amitabh and Abhishek, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Satish Shah, Naseeruddin Shah and his wife Ratna Pathak Shah, filmmakers Rohan Sippy and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and others.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As legendary actor Shashi Kapoor breathed his last on Monday morning, his co-star and friend, superstar Amitabh Bachchan wrote an emotional post on the late actor recalling how Kapoor had inspired him in more ways than one.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bachchan&#39;s emotional blog post was full of nostalgia as he recalled seeing a Shashi Kapoor&#39;s photo in a magazine in the 1960s. The photo was to announce Kapoor&#39;s entry into Hindi films, recalled Big B. &quot;I saw him standing by a Mercedes Sports car, a convertible, a smart trimmed beard and moustache, adorning involuntarily, the face of this incredibly handsome man. It was a picture that filled almost an entire page of a magazine. Shashi Kapoor &hellip; &nbsp;son of Prithviraj Kapoor, younger brother to Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, making a debut in a forthcoming film, is what the caption read ..&quot; wrote Bachchan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The superstar recalled how looking at Shashi Kapoor&#39;s striking image, he had himself thought he stood no chance in films. &quot;And I said to myself, as very uncertain thoughts raced through my mind of wanting to become a film actor, that, with men like him around, I stood no chance at all ..&quot;the actor wrote.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bachchan and Kapoor worked together in 16 films and ruled the Box Office together in the 1970s. The most prominent film that the two featured in was Deewar, which had the two actors playing brothers but pitted against each other.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bachchan also wrote that how Shashi Kapoor was a humble man and despite the stardom, he would always warmly introduce himself to people, irrespective of the fact that they might already know him. The late actor had also inspired Big B to get his now signature haircut.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&quot;His semi curly hair on head, falling carelessly over his forehead and ears, not quite covering it .. &nbsp;and my upper story mumbled again: &lsquo;hey ! maybe you should think of covering your ears as well ..&rsquo; &hellip; and off I went to Hakim the hair dresser at Taj Hotel with my plan .. and executed, it remained till date ..&quot; the actor wrote.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The actor also admitted that in the last few days, he had not visited Kapoor at the hospital and why he chose to visit Shashi Kapoor&#39;s residence on Monday night after he got the news of his demise. &quot; I never ever wanted to see this beautiful friend and &lsquo;samdhi&rsquo; in the state I saw him in hospital .. and I did not today, when they informed me that he had gone.&quot;</p>

<p>Filmmaker Subhash Ghai said working with Shashi Kapoor was a learning experience for him.&nbsp;&quot;I worked with him in two movies. <em>Gautam Govinda</em>&#39; and <em>Krodhi</em>&nbsp;in late &#39;70s. And learnt a lot from him like work ethics, discipline, time planning, compassion and above all his love and passion for good cinema and theatre development,&quot; Ghai tweeted.</p>

<p>Actor Shekhar Suman, who made his Bollywood debut with <em>Utsav</em>, produced by Shashi Kapoor, said he was grateful to the late actor for giving him his first break.<br />

<p>A host of artistes paid homage to the late actor at his residence today. Among them were the Bachchans -- Amitabh, Aishwarya and Abhishek -- Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Boney Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor.</p>

The Indian film industry on Monday mourned the death of actor Shashi Kapoor, as friends and admirers -- led by Lata Mangeshkar, Shyam Benegal and Aamir Khan -- recalled his passion for cinema, while paying homage to a man known for his easy charm and good nature. The actor, aged 79, breathed his last at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here at 5.20pm. Director Shyam Bengal described him as "god's good man" and a beautiful human being. "He was god's good man and a beautiful human being beyond anything else," Benegal, who worked with the late actor in Kalyug and Junoon, told PTI. Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, a close friend of the actor, mourned his death. "I just received the news that Shashi Kapoor ji has passed away. I am really saddened. He was a good human being. Veteran actor Moushumi Chatterjee remembered him as a great actor and jovial person. "He was a gem of a person, a very nice human being. He was a very protective person. He was a very talented hero. I learnt a lot of things from him in the beginning of my career," she told PTI.
