Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed an attack on Saudi Arabia's Defence Ministry in Riyadh and its biggest oil refinery, Ras Tanura. AFP reported that the blast shook the capital of Saudi Arabia, and the maritime fire agency Vanguard said a fire was reported in the Ras Tanura area in the early hours of Tuesday, local time. The attack is being reported as Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, along with Pakistani and Turkish officials, just completed four-way regional security talks."Our armed forces targeted the Ministry of Defence in the enemy Saudi capital, Riyadh, with a ballistic missile, and the hit was direct," Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said. The Houthi military spokesperson also claimed that the Houthis "were able to target the Ras Tanura refinery in the Eastern Province with a ballistic missile", adding the strike caused "massive fires".The attack on the Defence Ministry in Riyadh was not confirmed by Saudi Arabia. AFP reported an explosion in the capital earlier in the day. A text message alert was also sent urging people to seek shelter. Authorities said they intercepted and destroyed two Houthi ballistic missiles launched towards the city.Saudi Arabian authorities and Saudi Aramco have not confirmed a direct Houthi missile strike on the Ras Tanura oil refinery. The Saudi Ministry of Interior and Civil Defence have strictly banned recording and sharing any footage of missile or drone attacks. So the extent of damage is unknown."The fire has reportedly been contained, while the extent of damage and any impact on oil-loading operations remain unclear at current," Vanguard said. Also Read: Delhi traders urge Rahul Gandhi to postpone INDIA bloc rally once againRas Tanura is the largest and oldest oil refinery in Saudi Arabia; it is also the most complex one. In its first response against attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, India said that such strikes undermine regional security and threaten freedom of navigation in the Bab-el-Mandeb strait. India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in government's official response said that India condemns such strikes. Houthis on Tuesday targeted energy facilities belonging to oil giant Saudi Aramco in southern Saudi Arabia as part of a “broad operation.” Saudi authorities said that the strikes triggered fires at multiple oil installations and utility sites and injured 73 people. On Monday, Houthis said that Saudi Arabia launched multiple attacks on Houthi-held areas using aircraft and cruise missiles and struck al-Jawf, al-Bayda, Marib and Taiz provinces. "India condemns attacks on Saudi sovereign territory, especially the targeting of civilian and economic facilities. Attacks that undermine regional security and stability and threaten freedom of navigation in the Bab-el-Mandeb were unacceptable," ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in response to a media query. The latest crisis has began as a part of escalating tension between the US and Iran, with Iran-backed Houthis now targeting US-ally Saudi. Yemen’s civil war began in 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, along with large parts of northern Yemen, forcing the internationally recognised government into exile. A Saudi-led coalition, which included the United Arab Emirates, intervened the following year in an effort to restore the government to power. Tensions between the US allies Saudi Arabia and the UAE escalated earlier this year as their partnership in Yemen’s war deteriorated, ultimately prompting the UAE to withdraw from the conflict. The civil war has killed at least 150,000 people, according to UN estimates, and at times pushed Yemen to the brink of famine.

India has condemned Houthi attacks on energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, warning that such strikes undermine regional security and threaten freedom of navigation through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. New Delhi reiterated its concern over escalating tensions and risks to maritime trade.
