"The saree is a piece of textile deeply immersed in our culture and has evolved through various external influences over time. Every generation has reinterpreted the sari according to its environment and needs. It’s a blank canvas for artistic expression," says Anavila, in an exclusive interview with WION. From having a structured and feminine appeal to turning into a more casual and easy pick over time, the fashion connoisseur also sheds light on the evolution and the democratic nature of sarees. "The saree is an extremely democratic garment; it lends itself beautifully to any body size and shape. Depending on how we style it, it can be worn on any occasion and at any time of the day. The flexibility it provides and the deep-rooted relationship it has within our cultural connotations are what make this garment open to interpretation and engagement, helping it evolve over time and never go out of fashion," she explains. For Anavila, the biggest takeaway from 2024 was to be more meaningful and respect the nature. As for the new year, the fashion couturier predicts the reign of local regional styles in 2025. "As the new generation of youth dives deep into discovering their cultural roots, you will see traditional sari styles being reinterpreted and reimagined for the future," she says, adding, "With the concept of exploring stories that were untold or narratives that have been rewritten, people are learning about and embracing their culture— whether it's pre-colonial drapes or revived techniques. The sari is also experiencing this change with regional voices and traditional craftsmanship gaining prominence, and this is growing for the better."

Women share favourite saree pics for #SareeTwitter trend

<p>Karisma Kapoor who was spotted on Wednesday evening unveiling a designer's new spring/summer 2019 collection at Palladium in Mumbai, spoke about remixed films and songs at the sidelines of the event.</p>

<p>When asked if she is aware of a 'Coolie No 1' remake, the actor said that while she does not have much information about it, she is excited to see it, if the film happens.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As for her take on remixed songs, a growing trend in the industry, Karisma said, "I would love to see someone remix ' Tujhe Mirchi Lagi' from my film 'Coolie No 1.' "</p>

<p>Notably, the inspiration for the actor's comments came from the saree that she was sporting from the label's latest range that draws heavily from Indian flowers and spices.</p>

<p>She was herself draped in a saree that had the 'mirchi' or chilli motif running throughout at the event.</p>

<p>The actor took to her Instagram account and posted a picture of her draped in the saree as well.</p>

<p>Renowned fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, today responded to the backlash over his comments on Indian women and the saree, saying the matter has snowballed into an unintended &quot;gender issue.&quot;<br />

The designer said his remarks at the Harvard India Conference, which were in response to a query on the difficulties that women face in draping a saree, were intended to be a reflection on the &quot;celebration of our clothing history and heritage&quot;.<br />

Sabyasachi told PTI over an e-mail exchange from Boston: &quot;What was intended to be a comment on celebration of our clothing history and heritage became a debate on feminism. This is not a gender issue. Since the question was about the saree, women were involved.<br />

&quot;I would take the same stand on men&#39;s national clothing too. I have not made any statement on a woman&#39;s choice on what she wishes to wear which is always her own prerogative.&quot;<br />

Talking to the Indian students gathered in Cambridge on Saturday, the celebrity designer had said, &quot;I think, if you tell me that you do not know how to wear a saree, I would say shame on you. It&#39;s a part of your culture, (you) need to stand up for it.&quot;<br />

&quot;Women and men are trying very hard to be something that they are not. Your clothing should be a part of who you are and connect you to your roots,&quot; he had added.<br />
