<p>Years ago &nbsp;I was &nbsp;at &nbsp;a &nbsp;photoshoot with Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla &nbsp;when her &nbsp;saree caught fire from a &nbsp;diyah that &nbsp;was lit next to &nbsp;her. Within seconds her pallu was ablaze. I &nbsp;watched frozen &nbsp;on the &nbsp;spot in horror &nbsp;thinking of what we were witnessing there, when &nbsp;suddenly someone –no it wasn’t Salman--had the &nbsp;presence &nbsp;of mind to stomp on the &nbsp;burning &nbsp;pallu.</p>

<p>Bhumika was saved. Was she &nbsp;reminded &nbsp;of this incident when Halyina &nbsp;was &nbsp;accidently &nbsp;shot dead with bullets that were supposed to be blanks?</p>

<p>I remember another incident. This happened to my &nbsp;(then) dear friend Sushmita Sen.We &nbsp;all know she wears her hair &nbsp;lose constantly. The &nbsp;huge pedestral fan blowing behind her on the sets &nbsp; of a &nbsp;film &nbsp;knew it too. Within seconds her hair was tangled in the blades &nbsp;of &nbsp;the gigantic horror-monster contraption.</p>

<p>&nbsp;My &nbsp;first &nbsp;thought then was, who uses such obsolete &nbsp;contraptions &nbsp; on a modern &nbsp;Indian &nbsp;film set?</p>

<p>This was &nbsp;a good twenty &nbsp;years &nbsp;after &nbsp;a blaze &nbsp;extinguished &nbsp;52(?) &nbsp; lives on &nbsp;the set &nbsp;of &nbsp;Sanjay Khan’s &nbsp;The Sword Of &nbsp;Tipu Sultan. We never really got to know &nbsp;where and &nbsp;how the &nbsp;fire started. There &nbsp;was never any transparency on the issue. Years &nbsp;later when &nbsp;Khan was &nbsp;asked about the horrific &nbsp;episode &nbsp;he &nbsp;brushed off the &nbsp;incident as &nbsp;the work of &nbsp;“Man or God”</p>

<p>That’s quite a staggering range, far broader than Mr Khan’s acting.</p>

<p>No lessons were learnt. &nbsp;Indian filmmakers continue &nbsp;to &nbsp; shoot their &nbsp;films under the most hazardous circumstances. And we are not talking about the new post-pandemic &nbsp;dangers. Long before King Covid ruled the &nbsp;universe, &nbsp;unspeakable &nbsp;risks were &nbsp;taken on &nbsp;film sets specially &nbsp;in India. You may &nbsp;heard &nbsp;about some &nbsp; of &nbsp;the &nbsp;more famous incidents &nbsp;of near-catastrophes &nbsp;on the sets. But let me tell &nbsp;you the shocking &nbsp;truth: most of &nbsp;these incidents &nbsp;are &nbsp;hushed up, or every effort is made &nbsp;to hush them &nbsp;up.</p>

<p>If we begin to count the &nbsp;number &nbsp;of &nbsp;unreported &nbsp;lives which have been &nbsp;lost on the &nbsp;job &nbsp;during film shootings in India we would &nbsp;probably have to close down some &nbsp;major production houses &nbsp;in the &nbsp;country.</p>

<p>I &nbsp;remember some &nbsp;years &nbsp;ago when a &nbsp;horse had died &nbsp;during shooting I &nbsp;anxiously called up the &nbsp;film’s director who brushed &nbsp;off the incident as &nbsp;“one of those &nbsp;things that can’t be helped…eggs &nbsp;have to be &nbsp;broken to make an &nbsp;omelette.”</p>

<p>Right. But &nbsp;whose eggs are &nbsp;you breaking? That’s the &nbsp;question.</p>

<p>The &nbsp;Alec Baldwin &nbsp;incident must not be treated as &nbsp;an isolated one-off &nbsp;event, better left behind and best to move &nbsp;on.No.The entire movie fraternity &nbsp;all &nbsp;over the world should take &nbsp;stock of the safety measures provided &nbsp;on sets. To get that &nbsp;perfect &nbsp;shot &nbsp;, filmmakers &nbsp;are &nbsp;known to go to ridiculous lengths.But at &nbsp;what cost?</p>

I &nbsp;wonder &nbsp;if he knows &nbsp;how heartbroken &nbsp;Halyna’s husband Mathew is &nbsp;.</p>

<p>Days after Alec Baldwin opened about the tragic shooting on the sets of 'Rust' in a TV interview, the actor deleted one of his two Twitter accounts.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Baldwin's Twitter appeared to have been deleted on December 5 though it is unclear why he decided to delete the account labeled @AlecBaldwin as neither the actor nor his representative has offered an explanation to his move so far.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The Hollywood star had two Twitter accounts - one of which he was more active than the other. This is the same account that he used previously to issue statements about the fatal shooting.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, his other account under the handler @AlecBaldwln____ remains live.</p>

<p>During the interview, Baldwin said he <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/hollywood/news-alec-baldwin-denies-pulling-trigger-in-rust-shooting-433408">never pulled the trigger.</a></p>

<p>"The trigger wasn't pulled. I didn't pull the trigger," he stressed. "So, you never pulled the trigger?" When asked for confirmation, to which Baldwin responded. "No, no, no, no, no. I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them."</p>

<p>When asked if he feels guilt, he replied: "No. no." He then elaborated, "I might have killed myself if I thought I was responsible, and I don't say that lightly."</p>

<p>He added, "I have dreams about this constantly now. I go through my day, and I make it through the day. Then I collapse at the end of the day. Emotionally, I collapse."</p>

<p>Following the interview, his wife Hilaria Baldwin showed her support on Instagram.</p>

<p>One day after the interview, she posted their kissing picture on her account and wrote along with it, "'I am here, I love you, and I will take care of you'. These were the only words that came to me when we learned Halyna had died. I remember saying that phrase over and over again."</p>

<p>She praised her husband for the interview, "I was afraid for you to open up because I've seen your spirit crushed, your mental health shattered, your soul in unimaginable pain. Sometimes I wonder how much one body, one mind can take. I don`t want to lose you. You know yourself and wanted to speak. I am proud of you.</p>

<p>"You and I don't always get it right, but we have big hearts and we love deeply.</p>

<p>"So I go back to, 'I am here, I love you, and I'm going to take care of you'. We honour Halyna and her family. To hopefully figure out how this happened and whatever we can do to make sure it never happens again."</p>

<p>Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, armorer on the low-budget Western, spoke to investigators as they probed how live rounds ended up on the New Mexico film set last month, leading to the death of Halyna Hutchins.</p>

<p>Cinematographer Hutchins was shot and killed as Baldwin rehearsed a scene in which he fires a gun at the camera.</p>

<p>According to an affidavit released Tuesday, Gutierrez-Reed told police she had loaded the Colt .45 with five dummy rounds before a lunch break.</p>

<p>After lunch, the weapon was retrieved from a safe, and Gutierrez-Reed added a final round before handing it to another crew member. Moments later, she heard a gun shot from inside the set.</p>

<p>Gutierrez-Reed said she "didn't really check it too much" because the weapon had been locked up at lunch.</p>

<p>"We had the gun the whole time before that, and nothing happened, and I wasn't in there, and they weren't even supposed to be pulling the hammer back," she added.</p>

<p>Police seized more than 500 rounds of ammunition from the set, which they believed to be a mix of blanks, dummy rounds and some suspected live ammunition.</p>

<p>On Tuesday, investigators shared new information about the possible origin of live rounds.</p>

<p>Ammunition for the production came from multiple sources, including Seth Kenney, an Arizona weapon rental supplier.</p>

<p>Kenney told investigators he may have passed "reloaded ammunition" to the "Rust" set which matched the logo on a cartridge suspected to have contained the live round that killed Halyna.</p>

<p>"Reloaded ammunition" refers to rounds that are assembled from component parts, not manufactured as complete live rounds.</p>

<p>Gutierrez-Reed's father Thell Reed, a veteran armorer, said he had provided live ammo to Kenney on a previous film they worked on together that was "not factory made," and which was never returned.</p>

<p>Prosecutors have refused to rule out criminal charges against any person involved with "Rust," including Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed.</p>

<p>The pair are also among those named in at least two civil lawsuits filed by other crew members.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Gutierrez-Reed has said she has "no idea" why live rounds were present, and her lawyers suggested an act of "sabotage" by disgruntled crew members may have caused the tragic shooting.</p>

<p>Reports have emerged of disquiet among staff over allegedly lax safety procedures, and Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza has spoken of "complacency" on the New Mexico set.</p>

The actor-director continued, "It was the guy's girlfriend that was the prop assistant. They didn't have dummy bullets so they made them by taking the gun powder out and putting the bullet back in... Clooney said that, after the gun was sent back to the first unit, "No one checks the barrel. No one notices of the six shells, one of them is missing the bullet and hands it to the first unit. And killed him."<br />

He told that because of what happened to Lee, he continues to abide by safety protocols whenever given a prop gun.<br />

Hutchins, 42, was killed and director Joel Souza, 48, was injured when a revolver that Baldwin was using during rehearsal discharged. The actor had been told the gun was not loaded, according to court documents.<br />

The inventory list, filed in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court, showed investigators also had recovered three black revolvers, spent casings, a gun belt and other items.<br />
