<p>Lyle’s Golden Syrup, for more than a century now has featured a rather peculiar logo of a lion’s carcass surrounded by bees, for which it also holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s oldest unchanged brand packaging.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was not until 2006&nbsp;that the Guinness World Records took note of the product’s unchanged branding aside from the “slight technical changes” which were made during the war due to “shortages of materials”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2008, the company’s then-owner Tate &amp; Lyle announced that it was changing the tin to a gold colour to mark the 125th anniversary of the golden syrup, also known as light treacle.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, the syrup made from refined sugar was first produced by Abram Lyle &amp; Sons in 1881.</p>

<p>“We’re excited to unveil a fresh redesign for the Lyle’s Golden Syrup brand,” said James Whiteley, brand director for Lyle’s Golden Syrup, in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added that while they will continue to “honour the original branding”, the “consumers need to see brands moving with the times and meeting their current needs.”</p>

<p>The company plans to continue using the product’s old logo on Lyle’s classic golden syrup tin while the bottles and dessert toppings will have the new branding – an animated version of a lion with a single bee placed slightly above its head.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Our fresh, contemporary design brings Lyle’s into the modern day, appealing to the everyday British household while still feeling nostalgic and authentically Lyle’s,” said Whiteley.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the Old Testament, Samson kills a lion with his bare hands, only to find a swarm of bees had created a hive in its body. In the biblical tale, part of the Book of Judges, Samson then eats the honey and even gives it to his parents who were unaware of where the syrup had come from.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He then proceeds to present 30 wedding guests with a riddle to solve: “Out of the eater, something to eat; out of the strong, something sweet.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>A different version of the riddle which says, “Out of the strong came forth sweetness,” was chosen for the logo of Lyle’s Golden Syrup, which stuck around for more than 140 years, until recently.</p>

<p>The relaunch will begin on Russia Day, a patriotic holiday celebrating the country's independence, at the same flagship location in Moscow's Pushkin Square where McDonald's first opened in Russia in January 1990.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the early 1990s, as the Soviet Union crumbled, McDonald's came to embody a thawing of Cold War tensions and was a vehicle for millions of Russians to sample American food and culture. The brand's exit is now a powerful symbol of how Russia and the West are once again turning their backs on each other.&nbsp;</p>

<p>McDonald's last month said it was selling its restaurants in Russia to one of its local licensees, Alexander Govor. The deal marked one of the most high-profile business departures since Russia sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine on February 24.</p>

<p>A motto on the app's home page read: "Some things are changing, but stable work is here to stay."</p>

<p>Russian media, citing leaked images of the new menu, have reported the renaming of dishes such as the Filet-O-Fish to 'Fish Burger' and Chicken McNuggets to simply 'Nuggets'.</p>

<p>"We've learned a lot from struggling with&nbsp;<strong>social issues</strong>&nbsp;and living under closed platforms, and now it is time to take everything that we've learned and help build the next chapter," Zuckerberg said, but added that all apps and their brands will remain the same.</p>

<p>Zuckerberg slipped in the information while explaining the Facebook users about the platform's&nbsp;vision for the metaverse in a live streaming session.</p>

<p>Through this the social media platform is "helping to build the metaverse, a place where we’ll play and connect in 3D," Facebook's official Twitter handle explained.</p>

<p>This announcement comes at a time when several former employees are coming forward in forma of whistleblower and making claims about the social media platform's negligence towards misinformation, security issues, fake news and more.</p>

<p>While Facebook was excited to show off their rebranded company, several people expressed their anger over this change of name and lashed out at Zuckerberg, claiming that the problems in the company will not fade away through rebranding.</p>

<p>Twitter users logged in to shower Mark Zuckerberg with their sets of memes and jokes about the new name, 'Meta'.</p>
