Rakesh Gangwal and his wife Shobha Gangwal are likely to sell their shares for a starting price of 2,400 rupees ($29) each, which is almost six&nbsp;per cent less than the going market rate.

According a CNBC Awaaz report in June, the family was expected to sell between five&nbsp;per cent and eight&nbsp;per cent of its ownership for up to 75 billion rupees (about $900 million).

As of March 31, Rakesh and Shobha Gangwal owned 13.23 per cent and 2.99 per cent of InterGlobe, respectively, while their Chinkerpoo Family Trust owned 13.5 per cent of the company, according to exchange data from June.

In February, Shobha Gangwal decreased her stake in the company by more than four&nbsp;per cent.

Baker said they had talked to IndiGo but the airline was "not yet ready to take a foreign investor". When it is ready, Qatar will be interested, he had said at the time.

It was not immediately clear if the announcement is about a codeshare agreement, stake sale or any other kind of partnership.

Any deal, however, would come at a time when IndiGo's two co-founders, Rakesh Gangwal and Rahul Bhatia, have been embroiled in a dispute about corporate governance of the airline, sparking concerns among investors it could have an impact on the airline's valuation and strategy.

The email was sent to employees by the CEO as there were various media reports on Thursday morning regarding alleged disagreements between the airline's two promoters - Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal.&nbsp;

InterGlobe Aviation owns and manages IndiGo airline, which has around 44 per cent share in the domestic passenger market.&nbsp;

"I want to assure you that the growth strategy of the airline remains unchanged and firmly in place, and the management is fully charged by the Board to implement it," Dutta said in the email.
