Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday demanded action against former JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav for body shaming her during an election rally, saying she felt insulted by his comments and the Election Commission must take cognizance.

Yadav made the personal comments, calling Raje fat and asking people to give her rest, while addressing a rally in Alwar on the last day of campaigning in Rajasthan on Wednesday.

"I feel insulted. This is the insult of women," Raje told reporters in Jhalawar, adding that she was "absolutely shocked" and did not expect such a comment from an experienced leader.

Raje, who is fighting for another term in office, said the leader who had close relations with her family could not control his language.

"It is important," the chief minister asserted, "that the Election Commission takes cognizance of this and sets an example so people don't repeat such a thing in future."

A video of Yadav was circulated on social media, with many labelling his comments crass and misogynistic.

Yadav was campaigning for the Loktantrik Janata Dal in Alwar district's Mundwar constituency, one of the five seats where the Congress has entered into an alliance with various parties.

Raje's sharp response to Yadav's remarks came on a day the state is voting for a new assembly. The votes will be counted on December 11.

After at least 579 candidates withdrawing their nominations for the December 7 elections on Thursday, 2,873 candidates have been left in the fray.

Of the 189 women candidates, 23 are from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and 27 are from the Congress.

The BJP has fielded sitting MLAs Anita Bhadel, Kiran Maheshwari, Anita Singh, Sushil Kanwar, Manju Baghmar, Kamsa, Suryakanta Vyas and chief minister Vasundhara Raje, among others.

Sitting MLA Shakuntala Rawat, former Union minister Girija Vyas, discus thrower and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Krishna Poonia, former MLA Zahida Khan are among the Congress' candidates contesting the elections.

Since Rajasthan's first assembly elections in 1952, which saw only four women contesting, there has been a nearly 50-fold increase in the number of female candidates.

It is also the highest number of women candidates contesting in the last 10 years with 69 in 1998, 118 in 2003, 154 in 2008 and 166 in 2013.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and minister in Rajasthan government, Surendra Goyal, submitted his resignation from the party on Monday, a day after he was denied the ticket to contest the state assembly poll.

The BJP released its first list of 131 candidates on Sunday, following a Central Election Committee meeting, wherein Goyal was confirmed to have been replaced by Avinash Gehlot for Jaitaran constituency.

Goyal, a five-time MLA from the seat, submitted his resignation letter to the state unit party president Madanlal Saini. He was the state's Water Resources Minister.

The BJP has fielded 25 new faces and 85 sitting MLAs for the ensuing assembly polls. Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will contest from Jhalrapatan assembly constituency from where she has been contesting since 2003.

The assembly polls in the state will take place on December 7 in a single phase for all 200 seats, which are at stake in the state. The counting of votes will take place on December 11. The BJP had won 163 of the 200 assembly seats in the last Assembly polls.

Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party has removed Kumar Vishwas as party's Rajasthan unit in-charge. Deepak Bajpai will now take over Vishwas's office. Kumar Vishwas was appointed as Rajasthan unit's in-charge last year in May.

Vishwas's ties with AAP leadership has not been very cordial for the past one year. During many incidents, Vishwas has expressed dissent questioning party's leadership on a range of issues. Vishwas openly condemned Kejriwal's move to apologise to several political leaders in defamation cases.&nbsp;

Vishwas was recently snubbed by Kejriwal while deciding names for the Rajya Sabha from Delhi quota.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the party announced its decision to contest the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections. Party members alleged that Vishwas, reportedly, did not take much interest in affairs relating to Rajasthan assembly polls.&nbsp;

Senior AAP leader Ashutosh, at a press conference in New Delhi, shared that the party’s political affairs committee (PAC) met a couple of days ago to discuss the upcoming Rajasthan polls.&nbsp;

“The party decided to contest the Rajasthan Assembly elections with full strength.”

Ashutosh also noted that Kumar Vishwas was vested with the responsibility to look after party's affairs with respect to the Rajasthan assembly elections. "Due to some realities, he could not give as much time to it,” Ashutosh added.&nbsp;
