Iran's top Sunni religious leader Molavi Abdolhamid criticised the executions of protesters in the country, calling it a violation of the Sharia law and further warning the government authorities that such extreme steps won't stop the anti-government protests.

He specifically denounced the execution of the first protester, Mohsen Shekari, as he told the worshippers present in Zahedan that the movement "will not be extinguished by killing people”.

“The man's execution was "incorrect" and against Sharia law,” the Sunni leader said. The young protester, Mohsen Shekari, was hanged on December 8 for wounding a security guard using a knife and blocking a street in Tehran.

Abdolhamid said that the protester should not have been hanged for injuring a government security agent and blocking a street. The cleric added that Sharia includes lesser punishments even in the case of Shekari who was convicted for “fighting against God”.

The cleric also emphasised death sentences issued against five protesters who were charged with the government security agent's killing, saying, “Where is it written in Sharia that for killing one Basij member five people should receive the death sentence, and in such a short time?”

Abdolhamid claimed that many innocent citizens have been killed by government agents since September, however, no one has been held accountable and no justice has been delivered.

“Executions in Iran had no precedent in Islam in any period. (Similar executions) did not take place during Prophet (Mohammed) or during the four senior Caliphs who succeeded him, including Imam Ali,” he said.

Foxconn employees will receive CNY500 after referring a new recruit if the referred person works in the company for 15 days. They will be given another CNY500 if the recruit continues to work for the company for a month, as per a message forwarded on messaging app WeChat.

Foxconn apologised last month for facing a "technical glitch" in making payments after protests broke out in the factory in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou over overdue pay and Covid restrictions.

The announcement was made after viral videos showed workers, in huge numbers, fighting with security staff. In October, a video surfaced showing workers jumping the fence after they were forced to stay in lockdown inside the facility due to the Covid outbreak.

In the official statement, the UN requested the Chinese government to not detain or use force against the protestors in the country and to allow them to show their dissent in a peaceful manner. The United Nations Human Rights Council on Thursday denounced Iran's suppression of peaceful protestors and resolved to launch a high-level investigation into the bloody crackdown, following the death of Mahsa Amini.

The UN's highest rights council decided to establish an international fact-finding mission to look into all infractions associated with Iran's response to the ongoing protests with 25 votes in favour, six against, and 16 countries abstaining.

The council erupted in thundering applause as the result was revealed, allaying fears that Iran and its allies might be able to reject the resolution.

Michele Taylor, the US ambassador, praised the outcome.

"Iranian officials will not be able to perpetrate this violent crackdown anonymously," she said in a statement. "The international community is watching."

The decision took place at the conclusion of a special meeting called by Germany and Iceland and supported by 50 nations to review the situation in Iran, which has been shaken by two months of unrest.

As the protests spread throughout the nation and grew into a sizable movement against the theocracy that has ruled Iran since 1979, Iranian authorities have become harsher in their response to them.

Volker Turk, the UN's human rights chief, claimed he had invited Tehran to visit Iran but had not heard back.

He informed the council that since Amini's passing, more than 300 individuals had died. Over 50 children are among the victims, according to the Norwegian organisation Iran Human Rights.
