As polling for the fifth and final phase of Assembly elections began in Jharkhand on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged voters to be a part of the festival of democracy by coming out to vote in maximum numbers and make a record.

Polling began on a peaceful note on Monday morning across all 90 seats of Haryana and 288 constituencies of Maharashtra amidst tight security, officials said. The voting in all constituencies will continue till 6 pm in the evening.

After the long-drawn and action-packed Lok Sabha election which returned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power with overwhelming majority of 303 seats, the stage is all set for the 17th Lok Sabha to kick start its proceedings from Monday.

Voter turnout recorded till 3 pm: Bihar- 36.20%, Himachal Pradesh- 45.38%, Madhya Pradesh- 46.51%, Punjab- 40.41%, Uttar Pradesh- 38.01%, West Bengal- 51.83%, Chandigarh- 37.50 and Jharkhand has recorded voter turnout of 55.88%. Watch this video to know more.
