Ahead of the maiden budget of his second term in office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday brainstormed with top bureaucrats of finance and other ministries to finalise the government's 100-day agenda with a focus to revive the sagging economy and create jobs.

Sources said the meeting at the Prime Minister's residence had in attendance all five secretaries in the finance ministry and other key ministries as well as top officials of the Niti Aayog.

The high-level meeting is also expected to clear a five-year vision for the government with a view to achieving a $5-trillion economy goal in the shortest possible time-frame.

It is believed that future course of many of the prime minister's pet projects like doubling farmers' income, PM-KISAN, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, piped water for all, electricity for all and others was discussed.

With the farm sector facing headwinds, Modi last week stressed upon the need for structural reforms in agriculture which would boost private investment, strengthen logistics and provide ample market support to farmers.

The prime minister is likely to have discussed the road map for reforms for every department with a view to making it easier to do business in the country and boost the economy.

The agenda for increasing revenue mop-up and taking reform steps to push GDP growth, which has slipped to a 5-year low of 6.8 per cent in 2018-19, may have also figured in the meeting, they said.

Data showed that even though inflation continued to be within the RBI's comfort range, economic growth in January-March quarter slumped to a 5-year low of 5.8 per cent, pushing India behind China, due to a poor showing by agriculture and manufacturing sectors.

With 2019-20 budget scheduled to be presented on July 5, Modi has started holding deliberations with topmost bureaucrats for ideas, which could form part of the Budget.

While steps to promote investments in manufacturing would be high on the agenda, the Modi 2.0 government would also look at steps to address agriculture distress and improve farm income in the upcoming Budget.

The Budget, which would be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is expected to address issues like the slowing economy, financial sector troubles like rising

NPAs and liquidity crisis in NBFCs, job creation, private investments, exports revival, agrarian crisis, besides raising public investment without compromising on fiscal prudence.

In their pre-budget meeting with Sitharaman last week, economists suggested Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code (IBC)-type framework for NBFC sector, besides initiating job-oriented growth measures and maintaining fiscal prudence. Financial sector on their part pitched for a special liquidity window for non-banking finance companies.

Labour survey report released officially last month showed unemployment touched a 45-year high of 6.1 per cent in 2017-18.

Tanushree Dutta has been quite vocal about the alleged trauma she faced when she was an active part of the Bollywood industry as she set out to become an actress. Bringing #MeToo to India as she called out Nana Patekar’s name for sexually harassing her, Tanushree has now given a new statement in the wake of actor getting a clean chit from the Mumbai police because of lack of evidence.

Her statement read: “The Mumbai Police lied in its report to the court that my complaint with CINTAA did not have sexual harassment in it. They were given the copy of my handwritten 2008 complaint to CINTAA that clearly mentioned sexual harassment corroborating my 2018 FIR. In 2008 they had refused to even take my FIR and twisted and manipulated the complaint to protect the accused. Also, everyone remembers that CINTAA had issued a written apology for not addressing that complaint. This apology by CINTAA was widely published in media and we even gave the cops a copy of that apology to prove that. This is corruption at its grossest level. How can they twist evidence like that and completely turn it against me and in favour of accused??

The video of my car being attacked with my family on the same movie set also was submitted as evidence. And they had Janice Sequeira and Shyni Shetty giving witness testimony in my favour. What more proof does one need to prove harassment??”

She then accused the court magistrate and the authorities for siding with the perpetrator as she reiterated how this incident took away her job and livelihood and how she had to start all over again in a new country. She said, “In India clearly justice, law and order is for sale and criminals can buy themselves clean chit by spending crores on bribing law and judiciary whereas women who get harassed, abused and attacked and mob lynched in public get to be called false and malicious if they speak up and put forward a complaint. How much money did everyone make for this report that squashed my case?? Getting a clean chit with police or court in India doesn't mean you are innocent .Yeh Public hai, sab janti hai!”

Tanushree also raised an important question with the Indian PM Narendra Modi as she asked what happened to his promise of a corruption-free India. She said, “A daughter of the country gets harassed by a serial offender, attacked by a mob in public, denied justice over and over again and her name is maligned, she is threatened, pressurised, her career is destroyed and literally driven out of the country to live a life of anonymity and your police force say her complaint is false and malicious!!! Yehi hai apka Raam Rajya?? Being born in a devout hindu family maine toh suna tha ki Raam naam satya hai toh phir kyun is desh mein asatya aur adharm ki bar bar Vijay hoti rahi hai?? Jawab dijiye mujhe. (Why do lies and falsehood always win in our country, please answer me)”

Meanwhile, after the clean chit issued to Nana, the actress is likely to file a petition at the Bombay High Court in the coming days.
