Zubair Kamili, a customs commissioner, reported that the family landed from Vietnam on July 11. He revealed that the accused Jagjeet was in possession of two trolley bags that his older brother Manjit Singh, who had come from Paris at about the same time that day and left the airport, had reportedly given to him.

According to reports, Jaswinder assisted Jagjeet in removing the tags from the bags that held the weapons. As they made their way to the exit gate, the customs authorities stopped them and discovered the weapons.

"The suspects were detained under section 104 of the Customs Act (authority to arrest) and the trolleys, together with firearms, were seized under section 110 of the Act Section 110 of the Act (seizure of goods)," said Customs Commissioner Zubair Kamili.

Sandwiched between a pharmacy and a general store, his shop in the Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province -- the spiritual birthplace of the Taliban -- is flush with fresh inventory.

Camouflage combat vests and bandoliers hung from the walls as Mohammed showed off his wares, including US-made Smith &amp; Wesson pistols and ammunition belts.

More pistols, grenades, walkie-talkies and jars full of bullets lined the glass display in the front.

The end of the conflict has led many weapon-owners to conclude they no longer need them, Mohammad explained.

"People who have had guns at home for years bring us their weapons," he said.

Mohammad has a customer lined up too.

"We buy them and sell... to the Mujahideen," he said, referring to the Taliban.

"The Taliban don't let anyone else take (the weapons)."

Mohammad did not just have weapons -- there were accessories too.

White Taliban baseball caps with the Muslim proclamation of faith printed on them hung from the ceiling. The group's flags were also on sale.

Another dealer in the dusty Panjwai market, whose shop was adorned with large Taliban flags and pictures of the group's top leaders, had more potent offerings.

They included assault rifles -- variants of the AK-47 as well as the US-made M4 and M16 -- and even light machine guns.

The Taliban for years procured weapons and ammunition from the black market. They also captured arms and equipment from the battlefield and abandoned military posts, according to UN and Western monitors.

And the recent collapse of the Afghan military created an arms bonanza for the militants.

Alongside a large haul of American-made infantry weapons,&nbsp;Afghanistan's new rulers now possess equipment and vehicles -- including humvees, armoured personnel carriers, and at least one functioning Black Hawk helicopter.

The militants are also making the most of their spoils.

The <a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/china-is-our-most-important-partner-says-taliban-spokesperson-zabihullah-mujahid-410510">Taliban</a> are cashing in on a wide variety of items from abandoned Afghan and Western military bases.

The police received information suggesting that some members of a radical group, who had participated in an unlawful assembly on October 20 and attacked the Mong Kok police station with a large number of petrol bombs, were planning to use weapons including guns to create chaos and attack the police during Sunday's demonstration, Li said at a media briefing on Sunday.

The police, therefore, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/hong-kong-gears-up-for-mass-rally-as-government-appeals-for-calm-266882">mounted an operation</a> on early Sunday morning at 11 locations in various districts of Hong Kong.

At that location, the police also seized three daggers and some sabres.

In the Heard Street in Wan Chai, where a suspected assembly point of the radicals is located, the police seized two bulletproof vests.

In Tsuen Wan, the New Territories, the police launched a search operation and found a large number of fireworks believed to be used for attacking police stations. They also seized nine extendable batons and four pepper sprays.

The police arrested eight men and three women aged between 20 and 63 in the operation for offences including the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/hong-kong-police-say-pistol-among-weapons-seized-ahead-of-protest-266910">possession of a firearm</a> without a license, dangerous goods, prohibited weapons and unlawful assembly.

Hong Kong unrest: Police arrest 11, seize semi-automatic pistol in raids

WION&#39;s Pakistan bureau chief <a href="http://www.wionews.com/south-asia/wions-pakistan-bureau-chief-taha-siddiqui-narrowly-escapes-abduction-attempt-29101" target="_blank">narrowly escaped an abduction attempt</a> on him this morning in Islamabad, Pakistan.&nbsp;

Taha Siddiqui had been on his way to the Islamabad airport in a cab early Wednesday morning -- he was going on leave for three days -- when another car overtook him and blocked his path.&nbsp;

Speaking to WION in Delhi, Taha said 10 to 12 yanked open the rear left door -- he was sitting in the back -- and pulled him out.&nbsp;

&quot;Saale ko goli maaro,&#39; the men, who Taha said were armed with Kalashnikovs and pistols, shouted.&nbsp;

They then hit him and threw him back in the cab. Taha said the right rear door was open, through which he got out.&nbsp;

He ran across the incoming traffic, got to another cab, and managed to make his getaway.

Taha then made his way to the police.&nbsp;

He was able to send out a tweet from the Dawn journalist Cyril Almeida&#39;s Twitter account.&nbsp;

Reuters reported Taha as saying in the statement he made to police that he had appealed for help from a passing military vehicle during the abduction attempt on him.&nbsp;

A militant and a policeman were killed while three other security personnel were injured in an encounter on Tuesday in Pakistan&#39;s restive Khyber Pakthunkhwa province. 
 
District Police Officer Swabi Javed Iqbal told reporters that the terrorist was killed when police raided a house in Gadoon Amazai area of Swabi district after credible information about the presence of terrorists. He said terrorists opened-fire on the police team, and that constable Muhammad Javed died while sub-inspector Muhammad Tariq and frontier corps personnel Muhammad Sajjad sustained critical bullet wounds. 
 
They were shifted to Peshawar for treatment.&nbsp;In retaliation, he said, police shot dead a terrorist identified as Anwar Sayed wanted in cases of terrorism. 
 
The police arrested two brothers of the terrorist from the house and also recovered a hand-grenade, one Kalashnikov, two pistols and cartridges.&nbsp;A search operation was conducted after the encounter during which dozens of suspects were taken into custody. 
 
In a separate incident, at least 42 suspected people, including 19 undocumented Afghan nationals, were arrested during a search operation in Hayatabad area of Peshawar district, bordering Khyber Agency.&nbsp;Drugs and arms were also recovered from some of the suspects. 
 
Pakistan has intensified the crackdown against illegal Afghan nationals in parts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa province after it decided not to allow any foreigner to stay in the country without valid documents.
