Chinese military cadres need to “purify their social circle," read a commentary in the state-run PLA Daily by the department of the Commission, without further stating about the leaders who were removed from their official posts.&nbsp;

Adding to the instruction to “purify their social circle”, the daily further asked them to even “physically isolate” themselves if required.&nbsp;

“The most effective way to stay away from dangers and temptations is to conduct ‘physical isolation’,” said the commentary on Friday, while speaking about the code of conduct that the cadres should follow during social interactions.

The code of conduct was issued by the Central Military Commission in June.&nbsp;

The commentary said that if meal appointments or events are not necessary, they should be avoided. &nbsp;

The commentary came after Qin Gang was removed as the foreign minister by President Xi Jinping in late July after just seven months, making it the shortest tenure served by anyone in China.&nbsp;

As per reports, the intelligence has suggested US officials that Li was removed from his post.

China’s PLA warns cadres against socialising with ‘wrong people’

People’s Liberation Army (PLA) lieutenant general He Lei said that Taiwan, after unification with mainland China, can give its own governance ideas as they do not violate the “one China” principle. 
 
“What’s important now is to find new solutions for the ‘two systems’ so that ‘one country, two systems’ can work for Taiwan,” He Lei stated on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue defence conference held in Singapore. 
 
The statement was made by the lieutenant general while saying how Beijing would make unification of the self-ruled island more palatable, and added that “there are wise people in Taiwan who can make their suggestions”.

<h2>Xi's&nbsp;proposition about reunification with Taiwan</h2>

The same proposition about reunification with Taiwan was raised by Chinese President Xi four years ago when he chaired an anniversary session in Beijing, said Andrew Yang Nien-dzu, a former Taiwanese defence minister. Yang stated that Xi's remarks underscored the chasm of understanding between Taipei and Beijing. 
 
“Beijing’s ‘one country, two systems’ formula has no market in Taiwan and Taiwanese people believe this is just a trick by the mainland to destroy the Republic of China government,” stated Yang, using Taiwan’s official name. 
 
“Taiwan has stated its position clearly that the Republic of China is an independent sovereign state. If Beijing really wants to negotiate, then it has to make clear its stance about the Republic of China, or there isn’t really any room for negotiations,” he added. 
 
Taiwan is considered by China as a breakaway province which will be eventually united with the mainland, if necessary by force. The government has emphasised that they aim at peaceful reunification under its “one China” principle, according to which Taiwan and the mainland are one country.

He Lei stated that the issue of Taiwan was a “continuation of China’s civil war”, which ended in 1949. “Taiwan is an internal issue for China and it is a continuation of the civil war,” he said. 
 
“This is why the Chinese military is called the People’s Liberation Army – because (Taiwan) is not liberated yet and China is not yet united. Now the Tsai Ing-wen (government) of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party wants to promote Taiwan independence, and invites foreign intervention,” he added. 
 
“This is why we cannot renounce the use of force … we are still fighting the war of liberation,” Lei stated. Ties across the Taiwan Strait have hit a new low since Tsai, of the independence-leaning DPP, became the president in 2016, and came to power for a second term three years ago. 
 
National Taiwan University's retired professor Chang Ya-chung said “one country, two systems” failed to understand the reality that the ROC government ruled Taiwan. 
 
“If it is Beijing’s position that the civil war has not ended, then it will need a three-step solution (for reunification) and the first one would be a peace agreement to end cross-strait hostility,” said Chang. “This will help pave the way for reunification talks, and only the final step is to discuss what political system Taiwan may adopt,” he added.

These billboards have a huge "100" written in red and show the Communist Party’s sign, hammer and sickle, and hang on busy roads and near the main retail stores.

The government is going out of its way to make sure that when the party with more than 91 million members starts celebrations for its 100th birthday, there is no hiccup or ‘disobedience’ from the residents.

"Build a civilised image everywhere, let's all be civilised citizens," a banner reads. Other billboards encourage locals to “learn the Lei Feng spirit” with a picture of Lei Feng, one of China’s most famous and 'ideal' soldiers,&nbsp;plastered over the billboard.

In places where billboards were failing to catch attention, the Communist Party has installed large digital screens that broadcast a bright red theme with continuous images of troops of the People’s Liberation Army in their helmets and bayonets. This imagery goes with a text that reads, "Raise a new generation of spirited, capable, courageous and morally upright revolutionary soldiers".

The party has not just stopped at billboard and digital screens.

A movie will also be released next month that will concentrate on the party’s foundation, and to make sure it is a huge success, the authorities have managed to rope in the big names of the Chinese entertainment industry.

The defence minister was speaking after inaugurating the bridges built in strategically key areas of Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

The defence ministry said despite unprecedented snowfall breaking a 60-year record, all strategic passes and roads were cleared for traffic about one month before their average yearly opening dates.

"I am happy to know that over 2,200 kilometers of roads have been cut by the BRO during the last two years, using the latest technologies, and state-of-the-art equipment. Also, surfacing was carried out on about 4200 kms of roads," he added. Amid the border standoff with China, India is expediting work on several key projects including on a strategic road linking Darcha in Himachal Pradesh with Ladakh that will criss-cross a number of high-altitude snow-bound passes.

The nearly 290-km-long road will be crucial for the movement of troops and heavy weaponry into the frontier bases of the Ladakh region and will provide a crucial link to the Kargil region.
