Possibility of some kind of incident is real, warns US as China begins military exercise

<p>As US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi began her engagement in Taiwan on Wednesday, China&nbsp;called her visit a "farce" and vowed those who "offended China would be punished".</p>

<p>"This is a complete farce. The United States is violating China's sovereignty under the guise of so-called 'democracy," Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Chinese foreign ministry said the military exercises in the sea near Taiwan are "necessary" and a "just measure to resolutely protect national sovereignty". China had announced the drill ahead of Pelosi's visit last week.</p>

<p>The SPAR19 US Air Force plane made its journey from &nbsp;Kuala Lumpur's Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) to Songshan Airport (TSA) in Taipei covering nearly 2,000 miles and was reportedly tracked by over 708,000 people around the world.</p>

<p>Flight radar data showed during the seven-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur to Taipei&nbsp;a total of 2.92 million people followed at least a portion of the flight.</p>

<p>The plane has a rest area including sleep accommodation with business class seating and worktables and is known as an "office in the sky".</p>
