Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal has revealed the reason behind their marquee player Rishabh Pant's exit from the team. Pant, one of the most fearsome T20 players in the world, wasn't retained ahead of the recently-concluded mega auction.&nbsp;

"My heart wanted him back in the auction, and I tried getting him back. Kiran also was like, it is OK," Jindal said while talking to RevSportz.

"We will make up later. Both of us will make up with him after the auction if we get him, we will figure it out. We tried, but then the price became too high. So, it was nothing to do with ownership. It was a joint decision that we took," he added.

As for the reason behind not retaining Pant, Jindal noted: "I think we were very aligned as an ownership group. It was a collective decision that was taken. We had a lot of discussions with Rishabh. There were things that we expected of Rishabh that we did not get last season or in the previous seasons and we gave him honest feedback on that," Parth said.

"We both, GMR, JSW, we are one family. We are one, we are united and it was a decision we took. We gave him feedback. Feedback was not taken as we expected it to be taken. He took an emotional call. He has also grown up in this franchise and he was a young boy when he started," he added.

The batter, however, went on to become the costliest buy in IPL history after being acquired by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crore ($3.21 million). While DC tried to use Right-to-Match (RTM) option to retain the southpaw, the price became too steep for them.

"Rishabh is batting. He's running. He has started his wicketkeeping. He is likely to be fully fit for the IPL. I am expecting Rishabh to play IPL and he will lead from match one. First seven games, we are going to play him only as a batter and depending on how his body reacts, we will take a call for the rest of the IPL," Jindal said while speaking to ESPN Cricinfo.

Pant has been posting videos of his preparations for IPL 2024. He has missed a considerable amount of cricket following his horrific car crash. With him returning for DC, it will bolster their squad as the team struggled in IPL 2023 and ended at the ninth spot under David Warner. While the Delhi camp is happy to reappoint Pant as the captain, they are believed to be taking it slow with the Indian star batter as he won't be donning the gloves at least in the first half of the mega event.&nbsp;

Jindal also opined on pacer Anrich Nortje, who has missed a lot of cricket in recent times due to injury concerns. On the South African pacer, who missed the 2023 ODI World Cup, SA20 and the entire multi-format series versus India at home, Jindal stated, "He's fit. Right now, he is bowing at 80 per cent&nbsp;intensity. Next week, he will bowl at 100 per cent. He's going to make his comeback in the IPL. He is going to join our camp and should be good to go for our first game."

On Thursday (Feb 22), the partial schedule of IPL 2024 was released which covers fixtures&nbsp;for the first two weeks. Delhi will not play their first two home games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital as the ground will not be ready to host the matches soon after WPL 2024. Thus, they have opted to play in Visakhapatnam.

Delhi Capitals' Chairman &amp; Co-owner Parth Jindal expressed that he is very happy and excited with the make-up of the Delhi Capitals squad for the inaugural edition of the WPL. "We had a very good auction, with the right blend of young and experienced players in the squad. I am very excited about the Indian players that we have managed to pick. And, also excited to get the most renowned foreign players into the squad," he stated in a release.

Delhi Capitals' Head Coach Jonathan Batty said, "A fantastic start with those first three sets done. We had a slow start, but the owner did amazingly well, he held his nerve. We've signed fantastic players including Meg, Shafali and Jemimah, so really happy about the squad."&nbsp;

Expressing her excitement, India batter Jemimah Rodrigues said, "I am super excited to be a part of this family. Looking forward all the adventures that we going to have. What a team we have!
