<p>Telugu Desham Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu took oath as the chief minister of south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday (June 12). Naidu is taking the top post for the fourth time&nbsp;after his party clinched a thumping victory in the state's assembly elections, held alongside the general elections.</p>

<p>Naidu was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor S Abdul Nazeer at a ceremony in Vijayawada, attended by&nbsp;Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior leaders of the National Democracy Alliance (NDA), of which TDP is a part.</p>

<p>In the assembly elections, TDP had won&nbsp;135 of 175 seats, while its NDA allies Jana Sena Party (JSP) clinched 21 and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won eight.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Naidu took oath at Gannavaram Mandal, Kesarapalli IT Park in Vijayawada, along with 25 ministers which included three leaders from&nbsp; JSP and one from BJP.</p>

<p>JSP chief Pawan Kalyan took oath as deputy chief minister. The son of Naidu, Nara Lokesh, was also part of the Cabinet.</p>

<p>Besides Modi, the oath-taking ceremony was attended by&nbsp;Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Ramdas Athawale, Anupriya Patel and Chirag Paswan; Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, NCP leader Praful Patel and former vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu.<br />

<p>The council of ministers was earlier finalised after discussions between Naidu, Kalyan, and BJP national leaders Amit Shah and JP Nadda. It was decided that JSP’s Nadendla Manohar and Kandula Durgesh and BJP’s Y Satya Kumar will be included in the council.</p>

<p>The council of ministers has also included three women, two leaders from Scheduled Castes, eight from backward classes, one Muslim and a member of a Scheduled Tribe.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>PM Modi's swearing-in to take place on June 8</strong></h2>

<p>The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janata Dal-United (JDU), the political parties that are also dubbed as the potential "kingmakers", have reportedly given a go-ahead to the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, as per news agency ANI.</p>

<p>Both parties are expected to submit the letters of formal support to the saffron party during a meeting of the alliance.</p>

<p>The meeting of the newly elected MPs of the BJP-led NDA is expected to be held on June 7 in the national capital, reported news agency ANI citing sources.</p>

<p>As per the sources, talks will be held around the government formation by the NDA.</p>

<p>The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) witnessed unexpected Lok Sabha election results on Tuesday (Jun 4) where the saffron party failed to get a full majority, lower than what it anticipated.</p>

<p>As per the data released by Election Commission of India, BJP emerged victorious in 240 Lok Sabha constituencies, while Congress won 99.</p>

<p>This pushes the BJP into a situation where it will have to rely on the support of other parties in its coalition as it falls 32 seats short of the 272 majority mark.</p>

<p>The tally for the saffron party was much lower this time than what was recorded in 2019.</p>

<p>In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 303 seats, whereas in 2014, the party won 282 seats.</p>
