Over 16,000 people in Canada's eastern province of Nova Scotia were forced to evacuate their homes on Monday (May 29) as one of hundreds of wildfires raging across the country threatened the city of Halifax.

Wildfire raged through Canada on Sunday as the cities of Halifax and Nova Scotia declared a state of local emergency after wildfires forced evacuation in the areas. Authorities have said the emergency would be in effect for up to seven days unless extended as per the report several schools have also been shut in the affected areas.
