Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has called out the USA for its hypocrisy whilst adding that&nbsp;the hermit nation will never sit to face Washington for negotiations over its sovereignty, according to state news agency KCNA.

Reflecting on USA's criticism of North Korea launching a spy satellite recently, Kim said it was&nbsp;Washington's "double standards" and "high-handed and arbitrary practices" which dent regional peace and stability.

Notably, Kim also inspected&nbsp;photos of a US naval base in San Diego and a Kadena air base in Japan, taken by the&nbsp;spy satellite.

US had earlier condemned the launch of the "Malligyong-1" spy satellite calling it a "brazen violation" of UN sanctions.

However,&nbsp;North Korea's ambassador to the United Nations, Kim Song, in a rare appearance at the Security Council&nbsp;said only Washington and South Korea were having trouble with Pyongyang deploying a satellite.&nbsp;

"One belligerent party, the United States, is threatening us with a nuclear weapon," said Kim.

"It is a legitimate right for the DPRK as another belligerent party to develop, test, manufacture and possess weapons systems equivalent to those that the United States possesses or is developing."

At the time, she was referring to Biden's statement wherein he said&nbsp;Kim Jong Un's regime would cease to exist if he were to launch a nuclear attack on the United States or its allies.&nbsp;

"A nuclear attack by North Korea against the United States or its allies or partners is unacceptable and will result at the end of whatever regime were to take such an action," Biden had&nbsp;said.&nbsp;&nbsp;

South Korea salvages North Korea spy satellite rocket debris; to examine parts

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong denounced the United Nations Security Council meeting on the country’s recent satellite launch upon “robbery demands” from the United States, reported the state media KCNA, on Sunday (June 4). She also dubbed the meeting “most unfair” while rejecting sanctions and vowed to take “self-defensive” action.&nbsp;

The North Korean leader’s sister, as per the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said that the UN meeting last week was yet another reminder that the council is acting as a “political appendage” to the “gangster-like” Washington. She also went on to say that the UNSC by accepting US’ “robbery demands” is ignoring North Korea’s right to space development.

“I am very offended that the UNSC routinely criticises our exercise of sovereign rights as the United States wants, and strongly condemn and reject this as the most unfair, prejudiced act of interfering in internal affairs and infringing our sovereignty,” said Kim Yo Jong, as quoted KCNA.&nbsp;

She also called North Korea’s satellite launch a “legitimate, self-defensive countermeasure” amid threats from the US and its allies. Pyongyang had also accused Washington of raising tensions in the region with their recent annual military drills.

The North Korean leader’s sister also vowed to continue launching spy satellites which the country has called necessary to counter Washington’s growing US military presence in the region.

“The DPRK will continue to take proactive measures to exercise all the lawful rights of a sovereign state, including the one to military reconnaissance satellite launch,” said Kim Yo Jong, referring to North Korea by its official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Additionally, she said Pyongyang will never acknowledge sanctions resolutions by the UN, “even if they slap them hundred, thousand times.”&nbsp;

<h2>What happened at the meeting?</h2>

The UNSC meeting over North Korea’s failed launch of its spy satellite was called by the US last week. The launch has since been slammed by the US, South Korea and Japan who said it violated UN resolutions barring the nuclear-armed country from any tests using ballistic missile technology.

This led the UN’s under-secretary-general for political and peacebuilding affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo on Friday to take the UNSC to task over the “lack of unity and action” on North Korea’s tests. The state media also published on Thursday photographs of what is said was the new rocket lifting off from a coastal launch pad. The white-and-grey rocket had a bulbous nose, apparently for carrying a satellite or other cargo. According to a report by the news agency Reuters, Ankit Panda from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace said the photographs confirmed that the rocket was a new design. "The launch used the new coastal launch pad they've built at Tongchang-ri, so we might see a larger space launch vehicle use the traditional gantry that has seen some work recently," Panda said. Following Wednesday's launch, US-based monitors reported that commercial satellite imagery showed significant activity at the main pad.
