The old premier leader who is currently recovering from gunshot wounds had thrice skipped indictment hearings in session court.&nbsp;

Khan has been accused of concealing in his assets declaration, selling gifts received from state and head dignitaries, including an expensive Graff wristwatch which&nbsp;he&nbsp;received as the premier, at a discounted price from the state depository called Toshakhana and selling it for profit.&nbsp;

In October last year, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ruled that Khan made "false statements and incorrect declarations" regarding Toshakhana gifts. The commission&nbsp;further urged the Islamabad court to proceed against khan under criminal law for hiding the sale of gifts.&nbsp;

Islamabad court suspends Pak ex-PM Imran Khan's arrest warrants till March 13 in Toshakhana case

A local court on Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against all the absconding accused including Yogeshraj named in the Bulandshahr violence case.

Yogeshraj is the convener of the district unit of Bajrang Dal and one of prime accused in the case.

So far, the police have been able to arrest four people.

On December 3, inspector Subodh Singh Kumar and local Sumit were killed in the violence, which erupted after the carcasses of 25 cattle were found in the forests close to a police post.

The locals had alleged that the carcasses found were of the cows, which were slaughtered illegally.

According to sources, the post-mortem examination conducted on Singh had confirmed gunshot injury on his head.

Additional Director General (ADG) Intelligence SB Shiradkar had Friday submitted a report on the violence.

Inspector Subodh Singh, who died in the mob violence, was the investigating officer of the Dadri lynching case from September 28, 2015, to November 9, 2015.

However, the charge sheet was filed by a different IO in March 2016.

Fugitive jeweller Mehul Choksi, a co-accused in the Punjab National Bank fraud case, on Friday moved the special CBI court here for cancellation of a non-bailable warrant against him claiming he has reasons to believe that his return to India might endanger his life.

On May 22 this year, after taking cognisance of the second charge sheet filed in the Rs 12,636-crore PNB fraud case by the CBI, the special court had issued the NBW against Choksi.

Choksi, in an application filed Friday through his lawyer Sanjay Abbott, said his apprehensions over his safety are based upon what transpired during a recent television debate on the fraud.

He told the court that he was "shocked" to watch a debate on a national television news channel where two callers phoned in to share their opinion on the fraud.

The callers, Choksi claimed in the plea, "suggested that a special team be formed to track Mehul Choksi down and shoot him to death once he was brought back to India".

Choksi claimed that the callers said that such treatment would send out a strong message to society and prevent further cases of frauds and fiscal scams.

The fugitive jeweller also claimed that the news anchor concerned and the panelists did not object to the comments made by the caller. Instead, the anchor even laughed at the comments and the same makes it apparent that the anchor and the panelists too "tacitly" agreed with what the callers suggested, Choksi said in the plea.

"From the above two calls made by the callers and the tacit approval given to the same by the news anchor and the panelists, it is clear that the averments made by the applicant (Choksi) in the application filed before this court regarding a threat to his life and the fear of mob lynching are vindicated," the application read.

Choksi also sent some audio and video CDs claiming that they contained the cited footage from the news channel debate.

He has urged the court to make his submission a part of the court records and, in light of the same, to cancel the NBW issued against him.

The special court has now directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to file its reply to the application by October 3 this year, which is the next date of hearing in the case.

This is the second such application filed by Choksi before the special court, claiming a threat to his life and seeking that the NBW be cancelled.

A Special PMLA court issued a non-bailable warrant against billionaire businessman Nirav Modi on Tuesday. Indian billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi, who figures at the centre of an alleged multi-crore bank fraud, has fled to the UK where he is claiming political asylum.

A non-bailable warrant has been issued against Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi in the multi-billion dollar PNB scam. According to reports, a special CBI court in Mumbai court allowed CBI's application for issuing a non-bailable warrant against both the accused.&nbsp;

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday questioned a former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank, HR Khan, in connection with alleged Punjab National Bank fraud case worth Rs 12,600 crores (1.9 billion) and relaxation of gold import policy by the erstwhile UPA government, sources said today.

A Delhi court today declared beleaguered businessman Vijay Mallya a proclaimed offender for evading summons in a FERA violation case.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Shehrawat passed the order after noting that Mallya failed to appear before it despite repeated summons.

&quot;In view that Vijay Mallya failed to appear before this court within 30 days, and no representation was made on his behalf, he is declared as proclaimed offender,&quot; the court said.

The court had on April 12 last year issued an open-ended non-bailable warrant against the liquor baron.

Unlike a non-bailable warrant, &#39;open-ended NBW&#39; does not carry a time limit for execution.

On November 4, 2016, while issuing a non-bailable warrant against Mallya, the court had observed he had no inclination to return and had scant regard for the law of the land.

It had said that coercive process has to be initiated against Mallya as he was facing proceedings in several cases and avoiding an appearance in those matters.

The court had also held that Mallya&#39;s plea that he wanted to return to India but was &quot;incapacitated&quot; to travel as his passport had been revoked by Indian authorities, was &quot;malafide&quot; and &quot;abuse of the process of law&quot;.

Mallya, who is reportedly in London, had submitted before the court on September 9 that was &quot;incapacitated&quot; to travel despite &quot;best intentions&quot; as his passport had been revoked.

On July 9, the court had cancelled the exemption from personal appearance granted to Mallya on an application of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and directed him to appear before it on September 9. The exemption was granted to Mallya in December 2000.

In its plea against Mallya, the ED had also sought issuance of non-bailable warrant against the chairman of the now defunct Kingfisher Airlines to ensure his presence in the ongoing trial of the case, which is at the final stage.

According to ED, Mallya was summoned on four occasions for questioning in connection with a contract signed in December 1995 with London-based firm Benetton Formula Ltd for the promotion of the Kingfisher brand abroad.

When Mallya failed to appear before ED in response to the summons, a complaint was filed on March 8, 2000, before a court here and later charges were framed against him under FERA.

Vijay Mallya declared 'proclaimed offender' by Delhi court

A special court in India on Saturday issued a non-bailable open-ended&nbsp;warrant against British national Christian Michel James and re-summoned two other accused in the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland chopper scam.

James allegedly received around Rs 225 crore as kickbacks from AgustaWestland&nbsp;in the guise of transactions for performing multiple work contracts in the country, reported ANI.

The Patiala House Court in Delhi reissued fresh summons against India-based firm M/s Media Exim Private Limited and its directors RK Nanda and JB Subramaniyam after they had previously failed to appear before it. They were asked to be present for the next hearing on February 22.

The Enforcement Directorate in June last year had filed a fresh charge sheet against James and three others, including the company, in its ongoing money laundering probe in the VVIP chopper scam involving the purchase of 12 helicopters. A part of the finance ministry, the enforcement directorate is responsible for enforcing economic laws and dealing with economic crime in India.

The court issued the arrest warrant against James after it was informed that the alleged middleman was out of India. The Enforcement Directorate requested for a warrant to bring him in the country to face trial. An open-ended arrest warrant does not carry a time limit for its execution.

According to the Enforcement Directorate, Media Exim is a shell company of James and incorporated for facilitating transactions of kickbacks&mdash; an illicit payment made to someone in return for facilitating a transaction or appointment).

Former Indian Air Force chief SP Tyagi and two others were sent to jail till December 30 for his alleged involvement in the scam. Tyagi has been accused of changing the terms of the tender to help AugustaWestland, an Italian company which manufactures helicopters, bag the defence procurement deal.

In 2010, investigators found that the Italian company had paid several middlemen and possibly Indian politicians to get the contract to deliver 12 AW101 helicopters at a price of Rs 3,546 crores (roughly $33.9 billion) to the Indian government. The helicopters were to be purchased for very senior political leaders.

The defence scam had repercussions in Italy too after its highest court handed AugustaWestland chairman Bruno Spagnolin a four-and-a-half prison sentence in 2013.

In 2010, investigators found that the Italian company had paid several middlemen and possibly Indian politicians to get the contract to deliver 12 AW101 helicopters at a price of Rs 3,546 crores (roughly $33.9 billion) to the Indian government. The helicopters were to be purchased for very senior political leaders.
