In southern India, over 80 individuals have been injured as a result of a clash between police and protesters who halted the construction of a $900 million port belonging to Asia's richest man, Adani.

the protesters forced workers to stop working at the Vizhinjam seaport.

In the recent clashes, hundreds of angry protesters stormed a police station with lethal weapons, damaging official vehicles, the police documents claim.

The construction has been halted for over three months after the villagers blocked the entrance for construction vehicles claiming that the activities are causing harm to their livelihoods, Reuters reported.

India: Hundreds of protesters clash with police over Adani's port project, 80 injured

In what can be regarded as a great leap for the Indian space sector, a private firm has inaugurated its own rocket launch pad and mission control centre. This latest development from Chennai-based rocket company Agnikul Cosmos will enable them to launch their own rockets into space. This private facility, also India’s first such, is located within India’s existing and lone spaceport, the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.

The new facility has been inaugurated on Monday, by the Chairman, of ISRO, Dr S. Somanath, senior officials from ISRO and the Agnikul team. It has been designed by Agnikul and executed with support from IN-SPACe (the government entity which supports and promotes private space firms in India). This facility comprises two sections - Agnikul Launchpad (ALP) and Agnikul Mission Control Centre(AMCC).

Also read | ISRO conducts 200th consecutive launch of 'RH-200' sounding rocket; here's all you need to know

According to Agnikul, all critical systems connecting these two sections - which are 4 km away from each other are redundant to ensure 100 per cent operationality during the countdown. The Launchpad is built specifically keeping in mind the ability to support liquid-stage controlled launches, while also addressing the need for ISRO’s range operations team to monitor key flight safety parameters during launches. Additionally, it has the ability to, as necessary share data and other critical information with ISRO’s mission control centre.

Agnikul’s first launch will be a controlled & guided mission having a vertical launch and will happen from this launchpad. The mission would be a technology demonstrator that will mirror Agnikul’s orbital launch but at a reduced scale. The company's Agnibaan rocket is a highly customisable, 2-stage launch vehicle, capable of taking up to 100 kg payload to orbits around 700 km high (low Earth orbits) and enables plug-and-play configuration. Agnilet is the world's first single-piece 3D printed engine fully designed and manufactured in India and was successfully test-fired in early 2021 & became the first company in the country to test its engines at ISRO.

Speaking at the inauguration event, Secretary, Dept. of Space and Chairman, ISRO, Dr S Somanath said "The first exclusive launch pad for a private launch vehicle has come up at Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC). Now India can travel to space from one more space platform. Thanks to Agnikul."

Commenting about their new facility, Srinath Ravichandran, Co-founder & CEO, Agnikul said, "The ability to launch from our own launchpad while still working with ISRO’s launch operations teams is a privilege that we have been granted by ISRO & IN-SPACe and I am deeply grateful to them for the same. It is dream come true for all of us at Agnikul to launch our vehicles from a facility we have designed and built ourselves."

Over the last 60 years, the most sophisticated aspects of India’s space programme (such as building and launching rockets, satellites, and operating support facilities) have been the monopoly of India’s Government-run space agency. However, the space sector reforms rolled out by the Indian Government in 2020, permitted private companies to delve into this niche sector and carry out business activities.

In line with this, India has witnessed a multiplication of start-ups in the space sector, recently India’s first privately built rocket was launched into the upper atmosphere, and satellites built by Indian firms were launched on India’s workhorse PSLV rocket (built and operated by the Government-run space agency).

The announcement from Agnikul takes this further, as it would be the fifth operational rocket Launchpad in India. ISRO operates two main launchpads in Sriharikota meant for its large orbital rockets and has a Sounding rocket complex for its smaller & sub-orbital rockets. ISRO’s lead facility in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram also has a Launchpad for small-sounding (sub-orbital) rockets. In addition to this, the Indian Government is building another spaceport for small orbital rockets, closer to the tip of the Indian peninsula, at Kulasekarapattinam in Tamil Nadu.

Iran's football federation on Sunday lodged a complaint to FIFA after US Soccer Federation (USSF) posted a modified Iranian flag in one of its social media posts.

Iran's football federation on Sunday lodged a complaint to FIFA after US Soccer Federation (USSF) posted a modified Iranian flag in one of its social media posts. According to state news agency IRNA, the word “Allah” was removed from the Islamic Republic’s flag. “In an unprofessional act, the Instagram page of the US football federation removed the Allah symbol from the Iranian flag," said the Iranian football federation. The now-deleted post showed the Group B table in which USA and Iran have been drawn together. The post carried the correct flags of all countries in the group, barring Iran whose flag's green, white and red colours were present without the emblem of the Islamic Republic. When quizzed if it was done on purpose, US soccer media officer Michael Kammarman said it was done to show "support for the women in Iran fighting for basic human rights". "We didn't know anything about the posts but we are supporters of women's rights, we always have been," said US defender Walker Zimmerman, before adding, "We're focused a lot on Tuesday and the sporting side as well but at the same time we're firm believers in women's rights and support them." The death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini in September at the hands of Iran's morality police has triggered a nationwide protest. Germany and Spain locked horns in a Group E encounter on Sunday which ended all square after a pulsating 90 minutes. While the game was devoid of any controversy, the sidelines gave rise to another topic point after Qatari fans clapped back at the German football team and federation for its hypocrisy and woke gestures.

The Qatari fans in the stands hit back at Germany by holding photos of former German international Mesut Özil. The photos were in a response to the German football team covering their mouths during the match against Japan in protest over the ban of ‘One love armbands’ by FIFA.

The Qatari fans were reminding the Deutsch football team that it never stood for its own player who was made a scapegoat for the teams' insipid show at the 2018 event in Russia. Germany suffered a group-stage exit at the tournament but it was Özil who was targetted for the setback.

Both Özil and his teammate Ilkay Gündogan had posed for a photograph with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan before the start of the 2018 WC. Afterwards, Özil became the centre of controversy as the German media, public and the federation hounded him.

Özil quit the German national team following the tournament citing 'racism' and 'disrespect' as the reason. "I am German when we win, but I am an immigrant when we lose," Özil said famously, at the time.

"When high-ranking DFB officials treat me as they did, disrespect my Turkish roots and selfishly turn me into political propaganda, then enough is enough," said Özil in a statement at the time.

"This is not why I play football, and I will not sit back and do nothing about it. Racism should never, ever be accepted," he added.

At the time, the former Arsenal player was advised by the upper hierarchy of German football to not mix politics with the game. However, the same federation is now willing to break the rules set by FIFA and the host country to further its agenda.

After German players covered their mouths during the photo, the German FA released a statement saying, “We wanted to use our captain’s armband to take a stand for values that we hold in the Germany national team: diversity and mutual respect.”

“Together with other nations, we wanted our voice to be heard. It wasn’t about making a political statement – human rights are non-negotiable. That should be taken for granted, but it still isn’t the case. That’s why this message is so important to us. Denying us the armband is the same as denying us a voice. We stand by our position,” it added.

The photos were in a response to the German football team covering their mouths during the match against Japan in protest over the ban of ‘One love armbands’ by FIFA. Qatar hit back in style 👏👏👏 pic.twitter.com/zTsNzV2Agd — Mo (@SalaHolic_11) November 27, 2022 × The Qatari fans were reminding the Deutsch football team that it never stood for its own player who was made a scapegoat for the teams' insipid show at the 2018 event in Russia. Read more: Mesut Ozil in Arsenal: Guilty for speaking out or not the same footballer anymore? Read more: Germany players cover mouth in protest over ‘One love armbands' ban by FIFA After German players covered their mouths during the photo, the German FA released a statement saying, “We wanted to use our captain’s armband to take a stand for values that we hold in the Germany national team: diversity and mutual respect.” “Together with other nations, we wanted our voice to be heard. It wasn’t about making a political statement – human rights are non-negotiable. That should be taken for granted, but it still isn’t the case. That’s why this message is so important to us. Denying us the armband is the same as denying us a voice. We stand by our position,” it added. (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

Elon Musk shared on Saturday that he may launch his own smartphone if Apple and Google decide to remove the Twitter app from their app stores. Since Twitter is reportedly facing close scrutiny by both Apple and Google app stores, there were concerns that the micro-blogging platform may be removed from their app stores. Musk was replying to right-wing podcaster Liz Wheeler’s suggestion that he should create a new phone if the tech giants boot Twitter from their app stores.

Wheeler said the endeavour would not be a challenge for a man who builds rockets to Mars, and added that “half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android” and purchase instead the “tELONphone” a term she coined for the device.

As per Reuters, the National Health Service (NHS) nurses' walkouts are the first in what could be a series of walkouts after the government rejected a proposal for negotiations to address demands for pay increases of five per cent over inflation.

"Nursing staff have had enough of being taken for granted, enough of low pay and unsafe staffing levels, enough of not being able to give our patients the care they deserve," said Royal College of Nursing (RCN) General Secretary Pat Cullen.

This will be the most recent strike in Britain. This year, numerous public and private sector employees—from lawyers to ground crew at airports—have also held protests.

According to the government, it has approved independent pay proposals and will provide at least £1,400 ($1,590) raise to almost one million NHS workers this year.

Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni extends Ebola lockdown in Mubende and Kassandra by 21 days

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's public support have slipped to a new low. A Kyodo news poll found that support for Kishida's government has dropped to 33.1 per cent from 37.6 per cent a month earlier, marking his lowest rating in polls conducted by the organisation since he took office in October 2021.

Even the $200 billion economic stimulus package meant to soothe inflationary woes brought on by the yen's plummet to 32-year lows failed to help Kishida's approval ratings.

According to the survey released on Sunday, a slew of cabinet resignations has intensified resentment over the ruling party's affiliation with a controversial religious group.

Kishida's approval ratings have reportedly been falling ever since the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in July. The death according to Reuters exposed long-standing and close links between Japanese lawmakers from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and the Unification Church, which some have called a cult.

Scandals that have resulted in the resignation of three cabinet ministers since last month have made the issues faced by the government worse.

According to the recently conducted Kyodo survey, 62.4 per cent of respondents disapproved of Kishida's handling of the resignations of Ministers of Economic Revitalization Daishiro Yamagiwa, Minister of Justice Yasuhiro Hanashi, and Minister of Internal Affairs Minoru Terada.

However, in response to the government's push to strengthen Japan's defence capabilities, 60.8 per cent of respondents said they would favour the nation gaining counterattack capabilities to strengthen deterrence, a move that is considered contentious under the pacifist constitution, while 35 per cent were against it.

Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has come out in defence of the outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The agency said that the allegations surrounding the army chief and his family members making the rounds on social media were "misleading".

A recent report by Pakistani investigative news website FactFocus claimed that Gen Bajwa and his family amassed assets worth 5.66 billion US dollars (12.7 billion Pakistani rupees) over the past six years of his term. This includes assets and businesses both within and outside Pakistan.

The claims in the report were based on tax records and wealth statements of the Bajwa family.

Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, initiated an investigation shortly after the news was released and stated that the leak violated "the complete confidentiality of tax information that the law provides."

However, the military's media wing ISPR said in its statement that the data presented in the report was exaggerated and based on assumptions, reported Dawn.
