New York's attorney general is seeking $370 million from former president Donald Trump in a fraud case which has seen the real estate mogul accused of inflating the value of his properties, court documents showed Friday.

"Record evidence... supports disgorgement of $370 million, plus pre-judgment interest," said the filing, significantly more than the $250 million that New York Attorney General Letitia James previously said she would seek.

Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, and his two eldest sons are accused of fraudulently inflating the value of their real estate assets to receive more favourable bank loans and insurance terms.

The amount to be paid will be determined by the judge, Arthur Engoron, whom Trump has repeatedly attacked on social media.

It will be released in his final decision and order.

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, lashed out at James, calling her "totally corrupt" and saying "I did nothing wrong."

"My financial statements are great &amp; very conservative," he said. "This case should never have been brought."

The former president will separately stand trial on March 4 in Washington in a federal case in which he is accused of seeking to upend the results of the 2020 election in a concerted effort that led to the violent January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol by his supporters.

Trump also faces federal charges for allegedly mishandling top secret documents after he left the White House, and has been charged with racketeering in Georgia on accusations that he tried to overturn the 2020 election results in the southern state.

Trump lawyer Christopher Kise said there was “really nothing more to say to a judge who has imposed an unconstitutional gag order and thus far appears to have ignored President Trump’s testimony and that of everyone else involved in the complex financial transactions at issue in the case”.

New York Judge Arthur Engoron had first imposed a gag order on Trump in October after he shared a photo on social media of the judge’s principal law clerk posing with Senate Majority leader and Democrat Chuck Schumer, and falsely called her Schumer’s “girlfriend.”

Since then Trump has been fined a total of $15,000 for violating the partial gag order twice.&nbsp;

Since the beginning of the trial, the Republican frontrunner has denounced the proceedings as a partisan “witch hunt”. During his first appearance, in November, Trump often avoided direct answers and spent much of his time complaining of unfair treatment.&nbsp;

At one point, a visibly angry Engoron told Trump’s lawyer, Kise, to “control your client”.&nbsp;

Engoron, whom Trump has branded “hostile” and a “political hack”, has already ruled that Trump and his sons manipulated financial statements to dupe banks and insurers, while the trial is currently focused on the damages.&nbsp;

The Republican frontrunner had put both his sons in charge as executive vice presidents of the Trump Organization while he served as the American president between 2017 and 2021.&nbsp;

The former president’s two eldest sons Donald Jr and Eric were the first members of the Trump family to testify in the trial, in back-to-back appearances in a New York courtroom, and said they were not involved in the questionable valuations.&nbsp;

During the trial, Eric said he was not aware of the financial statements which lawyers say – and the judge ruled – helped fraudulently inflate the value of their father Donald Trump’s business, and were used to secure loans and insurance that allowed the company to keep functioning.

New York state lawyer Andrew Amer presented emails, video calls and other evidence that showed him discussing financial estimates, including changes to the valuation methodology for a golf course.&nbsp;

“Certainly I was aware of it, but I don’t think I was the main person involved, or even very involved,” said Eric in the courtroom speaking about the appraisal of the family’s Seven Springs estate.&nbsp;

The lawyer also pulled up decade-old emails in which a fellow Trump Organization executive asked Eric – who also became frustrated as the evidence was pulled up by the state lawyer – for the information needed to complete one of his dad’s financial statements.&nbsp;

“We’re a major organization, a massive real estate organization – yes, I’m fairly sure I understand that we have financial statements. Absolutely,” Eric said, his voice rising. However, he insisted that he “had no involvement and never worked on my father’s statement of financial condition.”

Eric’s testimony followed his brother Donald Jr’s who took the stand again on Thursday and blamed the accountants, both inside and outside the company. “They had more information and details on all of this than I would have,” said Trump’s eldest son.&nbsp;

As per Reuters, the evidence submitted to the court also shows Eric and Donald Jr signed statements certifying that they had provided accurate information to Mazars, an outside accounting firm which prepared the financial statements.
