<p>Meet Dimple Ahuja and Rishi Singh Shekhawat, two teenagers from Ambala and Jaipur who have come to do a 3-month app development course at Aravalli Institute.</p>

<p>Dimple is someone who is very career-oriented and focuses on Java more than her looks. Her sole reason for joining the course was to excel in this field and come out with a path-breaking app idea. While Rishi had slightly different reasons, which were very apparent when he walked towards Dimple on the first day of the institute and called her 'future wife.' Dimple was completely unaware that her mother had not hit the pause button on the 'shaadi talk' at home. But, the only reason she was allowed to go to Jaipur was to meet the 'possible future husband.' While the duo did start on the wrong foot, they gradually get to know each other and somewhere in the middle of the show get romantically involved.</p>

<p>Don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad in a simple rom-com. It makes a perfect addition to your binge list, after all, who doesn't like a cute love story with bucket loads of drama. It has been working for many years and it will possibly continue to do so in the future. But, the problem in 'Mismatched' is they try to over-complicate the simple love story. Initially, they try to merge it with a coming-of-age plotline with teenagers trying to find their way in life, but as we reach the last episode it just falls apart.</p>

<p>Honestly, the fact that Dimple's mother was pushing so much for her daughter's wedding at the age of 17 did seem a bit stretched. Also, for Rishi to completely be okay, actually enthusiastic for marriage in his teens did not fit quite well in the 'millennial plotline.' Especially when he had seen nothing but just a picture of Dimple.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Let's also talk about the cliché representation of its characters, who for some reason are always rude and angry with each other. There is a bunch of rich kids who like always are extra mean to the 'not-so-privileged' students of the class. A self-declared leader of the privileged group, who is extra angry and thinks he is unbeatable. An NRI who criticizes the way Indians scream and basically everything about the country.</p>

<p>Surprisingly, Dimple was also unnecessarily mean in some situations, whether it was her defense mechanism or a way to deal with situations, make her unlikeable in some scenes. Even if we ignore all these factors, the thing which really went too far and gave us 'Student of the Year' feels, was when they held a proper stage competition with an anchor and fancy lights for a small bet between Dimple and another student. Here is when the word 'simple love story' just went flying past the window.</p>

<p>What works for the show? The chemistry between Dimple and Rishi is on point and makes us root for the couple. That's why the end of season 1 was so upsetting. The story of the other characters- the subtle romance between Professor Siddharth and an older student Zeenat, Namrata's coming out of the closet story and Anmol's fight with disability. All these&nbsp;parallel storylines were executed very well. We also enjoyed the scenes in which Dimple snaps back at all the sexist remarks made by other students and her mother. Whether it was standing up for the female gamers or her dark skin colour, she came back in a way they least expected.<br />
<br />
Talking about the music of the show, the song which really stuck till the end, was Prateek Kuhad's 'Kaha Ho Tum.' Just as his last song, Kasoor, this one also has another level of charm.</p>

<p>If you have no other show to binge-watch this weekend, you can give Netlfix's 'Mismatched' a try. But watch it with little or no expectations because it's a disappointing downward curve.</p>

<p>Netflix's critically-acclaimed 'Dear White People'&nbsp;has become the latest TV show to shut down production due to multiple positive COVID-19 tests.</p>

<p>According to a report in Deadline, the show, entering its fourth and final season, will shut down filming for two weeks after several team members tested positive. Production was originally slated to begin this spring before it was halted by the original COVID-19 production shutdown.</p>

<p>"Several team members of the Lionsgate television series Dear White People for Netflix have tested positive for COVID-19,"&nbsp;a Lionsgate spokesman said.&nbsp; "They are currently in quarantine, and other staff members have been notified,' the statement added, though it didn't identify who tested positive."</p>

<p>The Netflix drama, which chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s to modern times,&nbsp;keeps changing the main cast in order to accommodate the changes in the age of its principal characters. During a Q&amp;A following the virtual premiere of season 4 on Thursday, the outgoing cast talked about their work on the new season and shared some words of wisdom for the actors taking their place.</p>

<p>Emma Corrin, who originates the role of Princess Diana in the new season is set to be replaced by Elizabeth Debicki in season 5. About her role and a piece of advice to Debicki, she said, "I think it's your portrayal, it's not meant to be mimicry on any level… It should be your own interpretation, and if that changes, it means it changes."<br />

About her role and a piece of advice to Debicki, she said, "I think it's your portrayal, it's not meant to be mimicry on any level… It should be your own interpretation, and if that changes, it means it changes." <p>Bollywood's yesteryear actor-singer Bhagwan Dada's song 'Qismat Ki Hawa Kabhi Naram Kabhi Garam' forms the theme of Anurag Basu's lyrical, poetic anthology 'Ludo'. A story of chaos, of finding love, of finding happiness as life takes its unpredictable course much like a game of dice, 'Ludo' warms you up with its stunning frames, heartwarming performances and its little details.</p>

<p>At the core of the story is Sattu Bhai, a gangster (Pankaj Tripathi) who also serves as the common thread in the four stories. There's a leaked sex tape that an estranged couple must take care of, a desperate wife takes the help of her childhood friend and admirer to get her husband out of the jail who has been wrongly implicated, two uncanny people- united by circumstances and fate are on the run with two big bags full of cash and an ex henchman finds himself in the company of a six-year-old who gives him life lessons that help him find closure.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Much like his previous films, Basu makes 'Ludo' a visually rich experience. Each of the scenes is framed stunningly, with the filmmaker serving as the cinematographer as well as the writer of the film. As a result, Basu implements exactly how he may have envisioned each of the scenes. The characters and their story graph are based on the colours of a Ludo board game. Green is for envy, red is for anger, blue is used for bullying and yellow for happiness. He demarcates the characters and their storyline accordingly- thereby making the film look like a rich palette of colours. Of course, when it comes to Basu, he pays dollops of tribute to filmmakers from the world over. In 'Ludo' there were scenes that looked like an ode to Wong Kar Wai's 'In The Mood For Love' and some of the chase sequences were similar to Charlie Chaplin's style and some to Jacky Chan's. And while many would argue that Basu unnecessary lifts ideas, I feel his tributes are very well incorporated into the plot of a film.&nbsp;</p>

There's, of course, Rajkummar Rao who, once again proves that given a good script, he can prove his mettle at comedy. Rao plays a lovelorn Aaloo, who willingly lets hid childhood crush Pinky (Sana Fatima Sheikh) govern his life. He can do anything for her- give up his life savings, rescue her husband from the jail and even get rid of a dead body. Channelising his inner Mithun, Rao's Aalu is a delight to watch - particularly because of how the actor plays him effortlessly.&nbsp;</p>

Bachchan plays Bittu- a once dreaded criminal - who now after serving 6 years jail term- pines for his daughter and estranged wife ( Asha Negi). Circumstances lead him to the Inayat's character- a seven-year-old who is too smart for her age and who herself pines for the attention of her busy parents. Some of the most heartwarming scenes of the film feature these two. The child is talkative while the man is brooding and the two form an uncanny bond of friendship.&nbsp;</p>

One knows how to manipulate the man who has loved her all her life (Sheikh), one openly seeks a rich man to settle down with as a trophy wife (Sanya Malhotra), one is calculative, smart and foresees a better future with a man she has just met(Pearle Maaney). The women in 'Ludo' may not always be speaking out- but are strong individuals who know what they want in life and how to get it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since it is an anthology, the filmmaker takes leisurely time to establish each of the plots. A lot is happening on screen and the filmmaker gives a detailed introduction of each track. As a result, the film appears to be long. With multiple chase sequence and several intertwining of plots, it can become a task to keep track of each of the stories. It is certainly a bit chaotic but the flaw is salvaged because of the detailed screenplay which most often leaves you smiling.&nbsp;</p>

'Ludo' does not have as many songs as Basu's last screen outing 'Jagga Jasoos' but even then they are beautiful and leave the last impression. If 'Aabaad Barbaad' is about unrequited love, in 'Meri Tum Ho' love takes ownership. The songs are so picturesque - you want to keep watching them over and over again.</p>

'Paranormal' centres around Refaat Ismail, a cynical doctor with a dark wit and whose convictions about the natural world are put to the test when he begins to experience paranormal activities.<br />

"This is one of my life`s projects. I loved (the novels) since I was a kid ... We`ve been trying to get (a series) out since 2006, so finally it has been shown to the audience," said Amr Salama, co-producer on the show along with Mohamed Hefzy.<br />
<br />
Egypt was historically dubbed the "Hollywood of the Middle East" and produces the most Arabic films and television series which are viewed widely across the region.<br />
<br />
"We are on a global platform... so this is an opportunity that is different from any other opportunity we`ve worked on. We can now have fans from other regions, other countries, who speak other languages," said Ahmed Amin who plays the show`s protagonist.<br />

Netflix has said it expects to complete shooting over 150 productions by the end of the year and that it would release more original programming in each quarter of 2021 compared with 2020.</p>
